Watch all-world Fred Warner screwed into the turf on the backside in the 2022 NFCCG because he had to respect the Hurts keeper.

Gainwell, Sanders, and Scott were able to run against a 49ers defense without Warner near the ball.

That was not true last year because the middle of the O-line was injured or snap-tipping hot garbage and the OTs were hurt or playing hurt.

There was nowhere for Saquon or Hurts to run. Tank was able to run over people at times but Patullo was too stupid to use him.

AJ was a fraud going at half speed. Calcaterra played as well as pulling a drunk fan from the stands to lead block.

Summary:

Aj sucked. Calcaterra sucked. Siri is no good and lacks qualifications to be a head coach.

The future looks bright. Hurts numbers will be at least as good as Purdy's this year.

Very Optimistic post.

My take, is that offense will struggle. If I am optimistic the first month. If I am being pessimistic at least half the season. The great news is that Defense can and will bail us out...unless other teams make a focus on the running game and run the ball at us. Then defense will get tired and offense will not have time to get into a rhythm.

Therefore establishing running game has to be Offense Priority.

Yeah I hate the no pre season play. Live reps are the only way to start off better. I can't stand the joint practices being a substitute for games

It always takes 4-6 games in the regular season for a new scheme, whether offense or defense, to start to jell. It's just too complicated to get all the different facets to work smoothly in practice and preseason games. New offenses and defenses need regular season intensity and speed to make all the proper tweeks and adjustments.

The eagles are going to win games early in the season with their defense. The offense, hopefully, will develop over 4-6 games.

Observers so far have felt that things look different. I’m interested to see the new motion concepts and seeing if they’re working to get guys open. Ultimately I agree that one thing will be the same and that’s this team will still be a run first offense. One concept that I do believe will change is that they will be throwing more passes to the backs. I want to see Barkley get some screen passes and get more touches in the pass game. Also without Brown constantly whining for the ball and pouting on the sidelines I expect to see a variety of players getting touches.

More of Tank too, please. Utilize the talent that is there.

Not if you have an offense that adjusts to the adjustments- same look, a gazillion different plays run from it.
Now the D has to guess. Thats what this offense is and why it is the way it is, and why its still in the NFL at all.

It's a work in progress. There are going to be bumps, especially early on. But hopefully we see continued improvement over time. If this offense becomes dangerous ... coupled with our defense?? Oh my ...

I think going in to this season if I’m honest I’m tempering my expectations. We have a very very good defense that could absolutely be top 3. It’ll keep us in games if the offense is struggling. And then with the offense I just want to see signs of growth and that things are moving in the right direction. The offense mostly for 2-3 years has not been fun to watch. The run game aside in 2024 it’s just been a struggle to watch.

I feel mostly positive about the offense. My biggest issue is that Lemon is not even able to be a part of it yet.

From what I am hearing it also sounds like Stowers has been close to useless so far. It will be interesting to see what he does in preseason games. They have plenty of depth without leaning on these two but I expected much more after draft weekend.

I feel there is a question brewing at the end of this season one way or another. If this offense fails this season, do the Eagles finally stick with the OC or do they once again go with a new guy? The really juicy scenario is what if it succeeds? Do they once again install a new OC and play caller?

That's the question that's never asked, if we had given the 1st year OC's we've had another year, rather than kicking them out, would they have improved with experience?

At some point we have to give it a go surely, for all Patullo's faults last year, was anybody going to do a significantly better job with that mess of an interior O Line taking away 60% of our offense? We went from running all over the league with Saquon seeming to break off a couple of 20 yard plus runs every single game to getting swallowed up at the line of scrimmage or behind on 75% of plays.

After making such a hoohah about getting Mannion, you kind of think they have to give him a couple of years, or else it all looks a bit silly.

They'll give them the most basic vanilla offense. So basically they are using the Patullo playbook this offseason!
