Not as good as 2024 and giving him 90% of the carries is counterproductive.

Your argument to me has been ignore the proof.Barkley gets about 1 yard before contact here:Right now, neither guy is averaging even 1 yard before contact. The run blocking has been terrible this year and was a problem last year. Barkley would still be putting up 2024 numbers with 2024 blocking. How you choose to spell him during the game is its own argument.

You just don't give him 90% of the carries. But how can you say that??? The blocking is the issue, not him!! NO RB in this league will get going if a defender is right in his face as soon as he gets the ball....THAT is how bad the OLine is....I am trying to figure out how on God's green earth you can confidently say "never will be again and they shouldn't run him as if he is".....I seriously cannot believe I just read that....he is still the threat he has been his entire career but with no blocking, it is not going to happen.....

Two years in the NFL is a long time and especially so for a running back. He has had 625 carries (not counting this year) since then. Nobody last forever at a superstar quality. It would be better for Barkley long-term and the team to have a different split at RB. And based on watching the games, he is not as good as in 2024. Satisfied? If not, tough.

He hit 21.87mph on a 28 yard run in week 8. He also hit 21.68mph on a 65 yard TD in the same game. He hit 21.19mph on a 52 yard TD in week 14. In the wildcard loss he hit 21.87mph on a 29 yard run. His 21.87mph run in week 8 was the 7th fastest speed in the regular season and his 21.68mph run ranked 13th. His 21.87mph in the playoffs was the fasted speed of the entire postseason last year by over 1mph.I just think it's funny that you're saying Barkley is two years older than 2 years ago, therefore he must be declining. There's a ton of proof that the O-line play declined and the yards before contact is way down for all the runners in 2025 and this season. You'll readily admit that Henry (who's about to turn 33) has still got it. I think both Barkley and Henry are products of physical gifts and dedicated workout routines. I don't see signs of decline in Barkley physically. He still has the burst and speed he's always had. He just isn't playing behind the Eagles' 2024 O-line anymore. Bigsby isn't playing behind that line either and has not been nearly as productive as Barkley so far in 2026.

Still, I don't believe Barkley is the same runner as 2024. For arguments sake, let's say he is. The OL is not nearly the same so it would behoove the Eagles to give more carries to Bigsby to save punishment on Barkley. 90/10 split is not sustainable with the current OL. 70/30 is more like it. It's not like Bigsby is another Reno Mahe.

It's not like Bigsby is another Reno Mahe.If we are talking about 50 total offensive plays in a game (like week1), Barkley isn't getting too many touches at just 18, so there is less need to remove him from the game. When you have 71 plays (like week2), obviously you want to spell your workhorse more. It's more of a "pitch count" than a percentage. Last week, Barkley had the stinger so we didn't really see how they plan to manage that many offensive plays, but I think even if Barkley hadn't had the injury, you'd be happier with the rotation than you were after week 1. That's just a guess, though.Runningback by committee can be an effective strategy --- especially when you don't have a premium RB. But I prefer the concept where you feature a premium back as the workhorse because it can wear out a defense and open things up for other players on offense when defenders try to key on one certain threat. As far as Bigsby and Shipley go, I like them both equally. Bigsby can gain tough yards inside while Shipley can help out a little more in the passing game. Barkley does a good job of coming out of the game when he needs a breather. I don't think he needs to be on the sideline anymore than that. 7 hours ago, MagicMoment said:Was the offensive line bad last year?Jurgens and Dickerson had their worst seasons last year. If the offensive line had all those issues last year, how did Tank average 5.7 YPC behind that same line?Last year, in most games, Tank had between 1 and 4 carries. His best game came against the giants when he had 9 carries for 104 yards. In that same game, Barkley had 14 carries for 150 yards and 1 TD and 4 more receptions for 24 yards and another TD. Most of Bigsby's carries came in the 4th quarter while we were milking a multiple score lead against a defense that was tired of chasing Barkley. The answer to your question is you're comparing a small sample to a large sample. It's not uncommon for a RB2 to be productive when he come into a game with fresh legs vs a defense that is wearing down. After the season Barkley had in 2024, defenses were literally keying on him because he was a legit threat. No team was game planning to take Bigsby out of the equation. You can apply your question to this season and ask, "If Tank is so good, why is he averaging half of what Barkley is averaging this year?" I listed 3 reasons why Tank had a good YPC average last season (small sample / fresh legs vs tired D / opposing defenses didn't game plan to stop him specifically). One more reason I didn't list is because of play design and execution. They weren't used exactly the same way. We actually traded for Bigsby last season because Shipley was hurt in week 1 and we needed a KR. Bigsby was so bad at fielding kickoffs after he arrived, I actually thought we might release him --- until that 4th quarter vs the giants where he showed value as a runner.

Again you have these long responses with little factual info. There were only 3 games we won by double digits last season (Giants, Raiders, Commanders), so where are all these multiple score leads we were "milking”?Let’s address your next statement of defenses "tired of chasing Barkley”…..Last year 4.4 YPC was the league average. How many games did Saquon have a higher YPC than league average last year??? Just 5 times (2 against the Giants). What was our record in those games??? 2 and 3. So what leads were we protecting where the defenses were tired of chasing Saquon? How many games did Tank average more than the league average of 4.4 YPC??? 6 games. What was our record in those games??? 4 and 2, and Jalen Hurts didn’t play week 17.

Barkley put up about 175 total yards against the giants last year and Bigsby came in to mop up in the 4th quarter against a worn out defense and had his best game of 2025, which, in turn, boosted his average ypc, when combined with the other 2/3 of his total yardage gained on the season. I'd type more, but I don't want to cause you anymore mental anguish with "long responses."
