When does St. Vic get heat for 2nd half defense

Featured Replies

The defense wasn't good in the second in either game this year.

Going back to last year the defense gave up 2nd half leads in mostof the Eagles losses.

There's a pattern here that'ds being ignored by the media.

Moral of the story - give the media sound bites in your weekly press conference and you becme bullet proof.

In short - if there is one person on this staff that is capable of quickly turning things around it is Vic

Tackling has been poor (no preaseason)........guys up front have underperformed (they were on a field that read 150 degrees)......so far we lack that physical image, need to get that back

It's early - no panic for the defense

Jesus. Starters don’t play any snaps in pre season and the field temp was well over 100 and people can’t figure out why we didn’t look like a well oiled machine. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Eagles defenses under Fangio had slow starts the last 2 seasons......then they seem to make adjustments and tighten up......

I DO think they miss Nakobe Dean though.....

Don't worry We got Jihaad Campbell. Though the only time you'll notice him in the game is when he's getting burned for 20+ yards on a pass.

He doesn't

It was 133 degrees on the field and defenses can't always be perfect.

His ass of a HC left them out there for an extra play and it went really poorly.

They still held them to a FG.

Hurts throw gave the Titans like 85 yards on their first TD drive.

The Titans scored 13 points at home outside of the first gift 7.

If you want to complain, then complain. Don't expect everybody else to hold your hand.

Campbell has all the physical tools.....but Dean has unique leadership skills, great recognition and adjustment skills, and great anticipation. Campbell may need another year of experience......Dean needed 2 years to master Fangio's scheme........hopefully, Campbell can to....

It's easy to forget how impatient fans were with Dean when he didn't start as a rookie and then made some mistakes when handed the starting role in his second year. Then he had the injuries. The next season it was looking like Devon White and the unknown Zach Baun beat him for the job through TC and preseason. Fans were calling him a bust. Even after being named the starter to begin the season, he had one terrible game vs the bucs with 4 missed tackles and the critics all hated him again.

Young players have things to learn and experience to gain. You would think most fans understand this by now. I like where Campbell is already at the beginning of his second season. I'm not sure, though, if Trotter isn't a bit farther along at the moment.

Dean was also bulldozing over offensive players. Team should have resigned him instead of Jordan Davis.

Also, Campbell is a 1st round pick. You don't draft a 3 year project in the 1st rd.

They didn't. He started in Dean's absence and is the current starter. You're confusing learning, growing, and improving with developing a project.

Well, one thing that no scout or talent evaluator can do is determine how quickly a guy can adapt and develop in the NFL.....regardless of the round he is drafted in.

Early in the season and field heat in Nashville, etc, but the Eagles' D has been underwhelming thus far. Particularly the pass rush, but they've given up ground in the run game as well. No takeaways.

Hopefully they do tighten up, we're gonna need them to. If whomever starts for Chicago this week...Case Keenum or Tyson Bagent... looks decent, that will be real cause for concern. Or if they get gashed in the run game like they did last year against this team while knowing they're facing a nobody at QB, that too will be a real cause for concern.

Of course, if they shut Chicago's offense down it'll be because they faced a nobody at QB whistle

I'd blame lack of roster before I'd blame a proven system with a proven coach. Not that I would fuel any attempt to troll Vic when, at any time, he can ride off into the sunset.

That's quite a statement.

Actually, that'll be week 4 against the Rams ;) angel

So I’ve been critical of the defense so far this year. I think most of us expected the offense to struggle early, and we thought the defense would need to carry this team at times. But so far that’s not been the case and this defense hasn’t looked like a top 5 defense at all.

That said… This year and last the offense has struggled through long periods of the second half. Going 3 and out a lot and not moving the ball very consistently. And that puts a lot of pressure on the defense because they end up out on the field a lot.

Sunday really did show that. First half the offense moved the ball and the defense did its job. Really they let up what 3 points? Given the turnover had the Titans at first and goal. But as the game wore on and the offense started to falter the defense did too.

Now the defense needs to be better absolutely but I think there’s some context to that.

In all seriousness I have the Panthers game after the London trip as a trap game

Screw the mocking attitude in your title. The guy won them a SB with the most dominating defense since Reggie. Have some respect and cut your ****ing.

Panthers are actually playing well so I can't imagine it being a trap game by typical standards. We are lucky to be facing the Bears without Williams this week because instead of this game being at best a 50/50 shot at winning, it is now a "should win" game. After that though, we get the Rams, Jags, Panthers and Dallas...tough 4 game stretch.

Not really. Nakobe Dean has always been the better player.

Comparing LBs to DTs feels like a fool's errand.

But the drop off from Jordan Davis to Ty Robinson feels greater than the drop off from Dean to Campbell.

Longer leash because of the dominate performance in the SB win. Also that heat was likely a huge factor. Hopefully it's just a slow start that we thankfully have still snuck in Ws
