"I will be nominating Christopher A. Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI. Details to follow,” the president wrote.

"I am proud to announce Christopher as my choice as the director of the FBI,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House more than five hours after the announcement on Twitter. "He is an impeccably qualified individual, and I know that he will again serve his country as a fierce guardian of the law and model of integrity once the Senate confirms him to lead the FBI.”

You guys should just give up now. Biden is like the emperor in Star Wars. Not only did he rig the election, he mind controlled Trump so he would pick an FBI director loyal to Biden himself. We are watching a master class of how to rule the most powerful country in the world with absolute power. I’m in awe.

Board lolbertarians love that a swamp creature is in charge of an overtly political FBI.

Trump was so utterly incompetent and unfit for the job, he hand-picked someone that his followers are now being forced to refer to as swamp creatures when Trump quite literally campaigned on draining the swamp. I just hate to see it.

Trumptards: Drain the swamp!

Also Trumptards: Trump put swamp creatures in charge of everything! The best solution is to elect to Trump again!

Yes, Trump made some pretty awful personnel decisions during his presidency. This comes as news to no one.

US attorney David Weiss, who has led the Hunter Biden criminal probe, has offered to testify at a public congressional hearing this fall, according to a letter sent to lawmakers on Monday.

House Republicans have demanded that Weiss – a Donald Trump appointee – answer questions about allegations from two IRS whistleblowers that the tax investigation was tainted by political interference.

The new letter from the Justice Department proposes several dates in September and October when Weiss would be willing to testify to the House Judiciary Committee, which is led by GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Notably, those dates are all long after Hunter Biden’s scheduled guilty plea, which is set to take place Wednesday. He has agreed to plead guilty to two federal tax misdemeanors as part of a plea deal.

The new letter, signed by Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte, states that the Justice Department has reservations about public testimony while investigations and judicial proceedings are "ongoing.” But there are "misrepresentations” that need to be addressed, and it "is strongly in the public interest for the American people and for Congress to hear directly” from Weiss.

"We are deeply concerned by any misrepresentations about our work – whether deliberate or arising from misunderstandings – that could unduly harm public confidence in the evenhanded administration of justice, to which we are dedicated,” Uriarte wrote.

Hunter Biden plea deal falls apart during first court appearance

DOJ prosecutors said Hunter Biden is currently under investigation

Hunter Biden's plea deal fell apart during his first court appearance Wednesday morning, as federal prosecutors confirmed the president's son is still under federal investigation.

The president's son was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax, as part of plea deal to avoid jail time on a felony gun charge.

But Judge Maryellen Noreika pressed federal prosecutors on the investigation and questioned whether there was the possibility for future charges.

The judge asked prosecutors if Hunter Biden was currently under active investigation. Prosecutors said he was, but would not answer specifically what the president's son is under investigation for.

Prosecutors on Wednesday said Hunter Biden pleading guilty to the two misdemeanor tax offenses would not immunize him from future charges.

The judge asked whether a potential violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act was under consideration, but prosecutors were tight-lipped on the matter.

The judge put the court in recess and asked that federal prosecutors and Biden's legal team discuss the plea deal, telling the court that they did not appear to be in agreement on the terms.

Hunter Biden was also expected to enter into a pretrial diversion agreement regarding a separate felony charge of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

His plea deal, which has faced ire from Republicans and opponents of the president, was likely to keep Hunter Biden out of jail.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

So now what? Hunter goes to trial?

IANAL, but it almost sounds like the judge criticized because some details were made public and discussed openly? There's more than that but it seems odd.

Then he goes to trial.  Lets make everyone that violates the law do the time.  This includes Hunter AND Trump.  Glad to see politicians and their families finally being held accountable for wrongdoing.

Agreed. I don't care if Hunter gets decades in prison. He and Trump can be yard buddies.

Lol so you guys are just going with Hunter acting on his own without any knowledge from Joe, huh?

Im stunned

"Both Trump and Hunter deserve prison"  yougottbekiddingme
