In the interest of me making an effort to not be an a-hole to you, I feel certain that if you reread the statute that I posted you'll understand the very obvious point.

US attorneys have been appointed as special counsels plenty.  Are you saying all these appointments were corrupt?  I don't recall you claiming it was "corruption" when Durham was appointed special counsel in 2020....

Done wrong before doesn't change what the statute clearly states.  Durham was appointed for the same reason, to protect the state and their chosen untouchables.  Why do you so smugly defend the corruption?

I'm not smugly defending anything.  But I do applaud you for finally seeing the light and fighting this corruption.

So you're just a lonely contrarian?  I'd give you a hug but nah.  Here's how former US Attorney Andy McCarthy sees it.  Basically I'm exactly right.:

Quote

Gillian, this is a sham. There is no special counsel investigation and there is no Biden investigation. The special counsel regulations, what makes a special counsel special is that you’re a lawyer who’s brought in from outside the United States government, not just outside the Justice Department, outside the government. This U.S. attorney is being appointed notwithstanding that he is an attorney who’s a top official in the Biden Justice Department. And Garland made clear, is going to remain a top official in the Biden Justice Department. This is the Biden Justice Department’s vehicle for maintaining control of an investigation that they are not pursuing. They’ve had the case for five years. They’ve never indicted it. They’re strategically allowing the statute of limitations to run to the point that the 2014 and 2015 conduct, which covers most of the $21 million that the congressional investigation report showed this week, that’s already time barred. And it’s time barred because David Weiss himself decided to let those charges die rather than bring an indictment. They’re not doing anything that you would do if there was an actual investigation. And he can’t be a special counsel because he’s inside the government, and the point of having a special counsel is to bring in someone from outside the government who we can trust to do a credible investigation.

You're calling somebody else smug in this?

September 2022: Cornyn, 32 Senate Republicans Call for Hunter Biden Prosecutor to be Given Special Counsel Authority

Weiss is the same guy who's been investigating Hunter for 5 years. He asked for authority as SC so he could move the trial out of Delaware.

Weiss was appointed by Trump. He started investigating Hunter while Trump was in office. And now he's being given broader latitude by Garland to pursue Hunter.

But yeah, the DOJ is hiding stuff lol

Nah ah!!! It’s because there’s corruption and they’re hiding it!!!

I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be a baby duck

Uh what? The framing of this is hilarious. So David Weiss, who was nominated by Trump, is now being referred to as a top official in "Biden's Justice Department"?

So we've gone from "He only hires the best people!" to "He only hires the best deep state agents!"

Clearly, he has been turned by the power of Dark Brandon.

So did the Trump administration not understand the statute when they appointed John Durham as special counsel?  Or do you think it was just blatant corruption by Trump?  (Not necessarily disagreeing since Trump is by far the most corrupt POTUS in history).

Zuker's been talking to Comer, I guess.

Is was a tactic to shield him from a subpoena by the House.  This is what Jake Tapper of CNN had to say about it.
