If he didn't, and it leaked, GOP lawmakers would have come after him for perjury. Yep. I don't fault Comey there. If you want to blame someone for that situation, you blame Hillary. Like you said, he was in a tough spot, partly of his own doing, but in his mind trying to do anything else would've given the appearance of impropriety. Right or wrong, he tried to err on the side of caution. It's not Comey's fault Weiner, his gf, or whomever it was, had those emails on that laptop.

The letter stated the following: Is investigators reviewing new evidence actually re-opening the case? The way I would read that, as a layman in these matters, is that they were reviewing the emails to determine if the case needed to be re-opened. They had no specific reason to believe the emails would contain classified material, they just knew they had found some more potential evidence. But does that open a case officially? Or does it just mean we're seeing if this means we need to open a case? (I'm asking, honestly don't know) My understanding was the case was officially re-opened. Had Comey been smart, he would have testified that the case was "substantially complete" or "dormant." He said it was closed. That was a huge mistake.

And they did do an initial screen and determined there were emails on the Weiner laptop that had not been previously turned over, IIRC. So there was new evidence that needed to be reviewed. It really was an unbelievable confluence of insane events.

October 30, 20204 yr Here a REAL Bombshell, that no one is really paying attention to, because: 1. too much graft by Trump, so this is just another ripple in the giant pond of muck 2. Turkey? No one understands that or banks, or sanctions. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/29/us/politics/trump-erdogan-halkbank.html Basically Trump meddled (ie. obstructed) criminal probe against a Turkish bank (Halkbank) and its cronies (friends/relative of the head of Turkey). All done so Trump could curry personal favor with Turkey's autocratic ruler. Or, let's put it this way: The Halkbank scandal is simple: a foreign dictator asked Trump to corrupt his own country's justice system, and the Republican president gladly said yes. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2020/10/trump-erdogan-turkey-conflict-of-interest-halkbank/ https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-tried-to-shut-down-criminal-case-against-turkeys-halkbank-after-request-from-erdogan-says-report

And whoever had it and wants to hurt Biden's campaign put it on a USB drive and sent it only to Fox News in NY. Tucker Carlson and his producer were in LA. The people in NY opened it, read it and said wow this is a bombshell. They told Tucker. They did not publish it on the Fox News website, or have anyone else at Fox News cover the story on live TV. They had to have Tucker and only Tucker share this news during his time slot. And that's gonna have to wait a few days...we have to wait to report breaking news. Right? And they couldn't email the files to him or put on a shared drive. They had to put a USB drive in the mail to send to LA. So the bombshell news right on the eve of the election has to wait...for Tucker in LA to get it in the mail, read it, prepare the story and report it on his show. And whoever gave it to Fox has the files on their computer/hard drive/etc couldn't send it to anyone else or just put it online themselves. But it's a bombshell that could hurt Biden's chances in the election with people early voting for a couple weeks. That's the story they're going with? Well geez when you say it that way

I actually don't believe he's ever acted as Trump's attorney. His real job is PR. Trot him out there, and get him to say crazy stuff to fire up the base. Did you see his interview with Kennedy on Fox Business? Guy is seriously unhinged.
