Is Jackson at the end? IR/surgery needed

ESPN is reporting Desean has a high ankle sprain and is undergoing an MRI to see if he'll need surgery.

If so, his season may be over.  Even without surgery that's a long recovery (ask Lane Johnson) and it's hard to envision a scenario in which Jackson takes up a roster spot.

***UPDATE*** Multiple sources report Jackson is headed for IR, will miss at least three games.

His time is done....it was great to see him come back when he did but since then....eh

Know when your time is up and retire. He had a good 13 years in the league....

Even before the ankle I figured he was gone at season's end anyway.  Just IR him now and be done with the failed comeback attempt.

Yeah he's done, there's no point wasting a roster spot for the unlikely event he's healthy before the seasons over. Let's face it he wouldn't have been back at all this year once we drafted Reagor, if he'd had a better structured contract, we paid him a lot of money for a game and a half playing time.

If Hightower could fing catch we would be good, maybe next year. Late bloomer.

He pretty much saved the game last night with that huge play.

He was always going to be a part-time player at best, and be gone after this season along with Jeffrey.  Cannot rely on either of them.  It's unfortunate, just age and injury caught up with him.

The announcers and analysts need to stop talking about the "top" WRs missing in Jackson and Jeffrey.  We couldn't count on them anyway.  If they could contribute, great but they weren't plan A. That's why they drafted 3 receivers.

He has been a shell of his former self for a few years now, its time.

At this point in their careers, Fulgham is better than both. So really no we aren’t missing our two best receivers.

Need to get Reagor back.  Fulgham, Ward, Reagor and Hightower starting to make some plays, plus getting Goedert back is the core of the receivers.  Ertz is hurt of course but even before that he's checked out and not playing well.  The future is now.  :-)

If he wasn't so fragile and maybe if he would have been more available instead of in the training room, it could have been a great send off coming back, contributing and helping this team. As it is, for 2 years of service we get a handful of games, 1 explosive game, and a ton of injuries. It only speaks to Howie's penchant for overpaying past performers for team nostalgia.

I think they should just cut him and let him make up his own mind whether he wants to recover and play in the NFL. He's been unable to give anything to this team since week one last year. These injuries keep happening and whilst it's unfortunate it is just time to move on.

He's done, it's just a shame his career had to end on a dirty, unnecessary, cheap shot from that POS Giant player.

Should be end of the road for his career. Maybe if he had taken better care of his body when he was younger he’d still be able to play, who knows, but the money he commands for an occasional nice play is too too much.

Didn't want him back to begin with. I wanted Anderson. Howie got emotional about wanting to bring him back

They were "plan band aid" to hopefully hold down the position until the young bucks (JJAW and those drafted this year) were ready to take over.  Unfortunately they weren't even able to serve in that role.  Definitely time to move on from both.

I was holding out hope that Jackson could help us finish out this season.     He could not even last 1 game.   He was a great player, but it's time to hang things up.

Let's hope that Reagor can come back and fill Jackson's role for us.

Welp, the youth movement at WR had already started. So just let it continue.

Did you see his reaction when he got hurt? Yeah.. you can tell he's lazy and faking. He probably paid somebody to "doctor" the MRI.

Just by his reaction it's easy to see he almost likes getting hurt so he doesn't have to show up for work.(eyeroll).

That question will be answered by Reagor and Hightower.  If they can't provide us with the deep threat ability that we need (I think they will), then DJax will be welcomed back when he's healthy in 7 weeks.

This is not surprising at all

Dude was put out there to make a play bc we we dug into a hole, bc of all the earlier mistakes. Got tackled, then some stupid behemoth had to hit him when he was already down. Gotta feel bad for him...
