I actually think it's a bad idea to be outsourcing intel, but I thought the right loves letting the private sector handle everything? You can't have it both ways.

Oh yeah, freedom loving Americans love a federal government outsourcing spying on its citizens with bloated government contracts to private firms because private sector! lmao how do ishlibs even come up with this stuff?

Everybody in America is walking around with a spying device on their person 24/7. Facebook, Google, etc...are already listening 24/7 and selling your thoughts to marketing companies.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to do here. So just answer these two questions, Mr. Roley-Poley: 1) Should we be tracking terrorists? 2) Who should be conducting the surveillance?

So just answer these two questions, Mr. Roley-Poley: 1) Should we be tracking terrorists? 2) Who should be conducting the surveillance? Who exactly is a terrorist? Well, the answer, of course is anyone who the government defines as a terrorist. I mean, I understand this is probably a subject we would never find common ground on as you are a Bernie Bro dem who pretty much believes in massive government everything, but if you can remember back to the Snowden/NSA controversy, pretty much everyone on both the right and the left was uncomfortable with the government spying on American citizens. Now, when a story breaks about Biden expanding that surveillance and outsourcing it to private companies, you're on board because yay democrats! I guess you were a huge fan of the Patriot Act, too, right?

I just said two posts ago that I thought it was a bad idea. 5 minutes ago, Kz! said: I guess you were a huge fan of the Patriot Act, too, right? No, I despise the Patriot Act, but in my experience, Republicans were largely supportive of it. I am totally opposed to mass surveillance, but I realize that it's never going away at this point. Your posting of that article seemed to me at the time to be taking issue with the outsourcing of the intelligence gathering, not necessarily the act of intelligence gathering itself. The use of social media in the commission of terrorism, though, does give us a difficult situation to manage. I do not want greater intrusions of civil liberties, but we do need to be vigilant.

Actually republicans came up with it, in the name of fighting terrorism about 20 years ago. Like with every republican overreach, they never consider that it may be used by a liberal president they don't like.
