I don't mind planned obsolescence so long as it's not deceptive and you let me actually own the device I paid for. I'm not merely leasing and storing it for you, trillion dollar company. It's mine now, I should be able to easily open it up and freely tinker with it.

I want to see what he's talking about here show actual teeth number one, and I'd like to see some work toward rolling back regulatory capture. This would cheese off the lobbies of many industries, but I would LOVE to see one of these two parties actually start doing things that encourage free market competition rather than paying lip service to it.

Just thinking about a few contested elections: Andrew Jackson and his supporters called the 1824 election a "corrupt bargain” after Jackson was robbed of the presidency. It’s like the coach of an NFL team insisting the refs cost his team the game after losing by 30 points.

Forget I asked that. gas prices plummeted when demand fell off a cliff during the pandemic. gas was $2.237 in January 2019, and $2.897 in May of 2019. I don't recall a whole lot of blame directed at the White House from you right wingers on that. Biden's tweet was certainly dumb. no question there. but gas prices have simply normalized. gas at pandemic prices is not sustainable, and gas prices are within normal fluctuations.

I only know for certain it’s been steady around 3.00 for the entire trump presidency and it began rising almost immediately following the election and is now $5.00 a gallon. Screw normal fluctuations. Keep gas affordable and everything else follows suit. Especially following a major pandemic. and yeah Biden’s tweet is dumb. But more importantly it’s deceptive and insulting.

Uh, maybe because the last guy was an incompetent imbecile who had zero interest in ending the pandemic. Biden actually got things moving in the right direction, which in turn increased demand for fossil fuels. Aside from this unusual circumstance, though, the president has next to zero effect on the price of gasoline. Not to mention, January is typically the time of year when gas prices are lowest.

Crude oil prices are up as demand is up, and OPEC isn't increasing supply which doesn't affect our supply directly but does impact the cost of crude. Refinery capacity is down almost 5% because of closures during the pandemic, and some of these are not going to come back online. Add to that the typical rise in prices over the summer and here we are.

July 15, 20214 yr Censorship yet? During a press briefing Thursday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the White House was collaborating with social media companies to censor COVID ‘disinformation.’ In response to a reporter’s question, she said the federal government has ramped up its disinformation research and tracking. "We’re flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation,” she said. She discussed four key steps the federal government is taking to hold Facebook and other tech titans accountable for identifying and restricting content deemed factually incorrect surrounding the COVID vaccine. "Facebook should provide publicly and transparently data on the reach of the COVID-19 vaccine misinformation, not just engagement but the reach of the misinformation and the audience that it’s reaching,” Psaki commented. ” This should be provided not just to researchers but to the public.” She also said the White House had proposed a "robust enforcement strategy” that bridges the properties of the tech titans like Facebook, which also owns the popular apps Instagram and Snapchat, and "provides transparency about the rules.” "There’s about 12 people that are producing 65 percent of anti-vaccine misinformation on social media platforms. All of them remain active on Facebook despite some of them even being banned on other platforms including ones that Facebook owns,” Psaki added. She urged Facebook to move more expeditiously to find and remove misleading content before it is consumed by a large number of users. "It’s important to take faster action against harmful posts. As you all know, information travels quite quickly on social media platforms sometimes that’s not accurate,” the press secretary emphasized. Facebook has an obligation to use its power to "promote quality information sources in their feed algorithm,” Psaki suggested, noting that "Facebook has repeatedly shown they have the leverage” to do so.
