Yes I made the claim that was literally proven on like the last page. You made some incoherent claim that you know you cant prove so now youre mad Youd rather attack me because I supported Trump than just agree with me that the obvious fascism is fascism. That's defending it. Thats what you did. Just now, Gannan said: Your unhinged, butt hurt lunacy gets the responses from me it deserves. July 16, 20214 yr "We've partnered with government experts, health authorities and researchers to take aggressive action against misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines to protect public health," a statement Facebook provided Newsweek said. "So far we've removed more than 18 million pieces of COVID misinformation, removed accounts that repeatedly break these rules, and connected more than 2 billion people to reliable information about COVID-19 and COVID vaccines across our apps."

July 16, 20214 yr Mike, the only thing you’re going to prevent with your anti-vaccine rhetoric is kids from going to school in person in the fall.

July 16, 20214 yr if the biden administration is forcing facebook to flag/take down posts, then i disagree with those actions. if facebook is willingly working with government health experts to help identify covid misinformation so they can flag/take it down, then that's their right as a private company. because 'murica!

July 16, 20214 yr I think you butt hurt Trumpbots should go about this the right way since you claim to love the constitution so much. Pass an amendment that says Facebook is a public entity and your right to post whatever you want on it shall not be infringed. The only way to stick it to us freedom hating socialists is for the government to take over any corporation you don't like.

You cant be this dense Everything about the definition of the word screams Trump Republican. Quote Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy, which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe. Far right ( proud boys etc that vote for Trump ) Authoritarian ultranationalism ( see above ) Forcible suppression of opposition ( see all current GOP voter suppression legislation ) All of it screams 2016 - 2020
July 16, 20214 yr I mean, do we really need to lay out the track record Trump has on this? Does anyone with more than three brain cells really think Biden could ever come close to matching it?

This is pretty much where I am. If the companies are reaching out to the government for assistance, then it's not objectionable/abhorrent. If the discussions were initiated by the government, then that is clearly wrong. I'm not sure we'll ever really know the answer to who initiated the dialogue, but if the companies are willing participants, then I am not as concerned. What concerns me is the precedent is potentially sets, as well as the temptation for regulators to try and coerce these companies in the future. It's a little like opening Pandora's box. I'd rather see the government flood Facebook, Twitter, etc. with its own posts pushing back.

She discussed four key steps the federal government is taking to hold Facebook and other tech titans accountable for identifying and restricting content deemed factually incorrect surrounding the COVID vaccine. "Facebook should provide publicly and transparently data on the reach of the COVID-19 vaccine misinformation, not just engagement but the reach of the misinformation and the audience that it’s reaching,” Psaki commented. ” This should be provided not just to researchers but to the public
July 16, 20214 yr The administration shouldn't hold Facebook "accountable" for running their own business as they see fit. They shouldn't be dictating to them what they should do with their own analytics data or who to provide it to. That's something Facebook should be able to decide free from undue influence.
July 16, 20214 yr And to be clear, I actually agree with her that these companies aren't doing nearly enough to combat disinformation. Especially when most of it originates from a consolidated group of evil ass clowns, some of which are likely foreign actors looking to further destabilize us.

That's very concerning. What in the hell does "hold accountable" mean? Fines? Increased regulatory scrutiny? If any of that is going on, then the Biden administration should be vigorously condemned and called out.

Yeah who knows, but even if it's turns out to be an empty threat and they literally do nothing in the end, it's still dumb to even use phrasing like that in the first place. Edit: she doesn't appear to actually say the government will hold Facebook accountable. This was inserted by the author of the article in the National Review.

July 16, 20214 yr Honestly, even the implied pressure of Psaki saying that from the briefing room is too far. Seeing that quote, I think it's fair to criticize the administration here. And no, I'm not comparing it to the ridiculous stuff Trump pulled. But I'd hope for better from generally competent people. The administration should be slammed for this -- the press secretary shouldn't even be implying consequences for companies that don't toe the line. I'd hope Psaki backtracks on that statement fast.
