 It wasn’t vandalized it was stolen and raped.  twice  one insured the other never had a chance to be  

You won’t believe it but all my tools (brand new tools) got stolen a week ago right outside of Crenshaw Ymca while I was doing an emergency service call for them.   Like an idiot I left them in back of truck because I was only going in with a tester and drill for a minute to diagnose the problem.  Came out 10 minutes later they were gone.  
 

so I am on my 4th set of tools in 6 months.  
 Seems this year has been the year of working to buy gas and tools simply so I can go back to work

 I don’t know why I mention this  here   

Anyways, I admit none of this relates to how Incompetent our president is. But things are bad here as it relates to crime.  Really bad.  And I expect them to get worse.

I hate vans.  The rattling of parts and tools, The blind spots. Besides I had a utility truck and all my tools were locked in the bins just not this last time they were in the back. 
 

and they are stealing vans too anyways.  
 

They are stealing wire and copper pipe right out of the job sites and vacant buildings.   
 

I don’t have no an answer.  There are no repercussions for theft anymore and construction workers and sites are easy targets.  
 

Every trade person  I talk to has their own stories of being robbed.   

I been in the trades since the 80’s and it’s never been close to as bad as it is now. 
 

on a positive note,
 

I started keeping scrap wire (something I never had a desire or need to do) lately and copper pays very well and has helped offset the cost of tools and high gas prices.   But that’s more work and time too so…. I also am not buying Klein tools anymore even though they are the only tools I like. Too expensive to keep replacing.  I am buying Home Cheapo off brand hand tools and ryobi power tools while some crackheads somewhere are selling my good tools. Lol

I don’t understand when you say you never had time to insure one of the trucks? It only takes a phone call to the insurance company. Takes a few minutes. I assume you could do it on the insurance company’s website too if you don’t like being on hold. Just seems crazy to use a truck for a week with no insurance. Especially after the previous one was stolen.

When you have your truck and tools stolen you can’t work.  Everything gets put on hold and you are scrambling for months to get back to normal.  You have no parts stock on your truck and minimal tools so you have to go to the wholesale house 5 times a day and you are doing everything you can just to finish pending projects as well as keeping your clients happy.  Trust me, when you don’t have the tools and parts/materials at hand, in LA, with t

raffic and everything else, it’s a challenge to be productive and work efficiently.  And it takes a while to get back to where you started.  
a friend of mine had a utility truck he didn’t really need so he was cool enough to sell it to me and within a week i think it was it got stolen too. On a Sunday too.  I hadn’t even transferred it into my name yet.  

Yes it’s easy to insure a vehicle when all things are normal but when your scrambling to stay afloat it isn’t your top priority and insurance doesn’t pay for your tools and materials either. Not mine anyways. I had a case of emergency light ballasts on that truck that cost $1,000   Wtf is some criminal going to do with those?   

 

Driving around L.A. without insurance isn’t very smart.
