In fact, EU nations are basically telling the UK "you made this mess with Brexit, so deal with it." Brexit, the idiotic nativist policy foisted on the UK by the idiot wing of the tories, is not helping matters. Brexit is also causing a shortage of other products, as grocery store shelves go bare for many products previously available. But sure, keep blaming "green policies" for the UK's self-inflicted crisis.

The unprecedented energy crunch has been brewing for years, with Europe growing increasingly dependent on intermittent sources of energy such as wind and solar while investments in fossil fuels declined. Environmental policy has also pushed some countries to shut their coal and nuclear fleets, reducing the number of power plants that could serve as back-up in times of shortages. "It could get very ugly unless we act quickly to try to fill every inch of storage," said Marco Alvera, chief executive officer of Italian energy infrastructure company Snam SpA. "You can survive a week without electricity, but you can't survive without gas."

I don't get the liberals. The were up Trump's butt for 2 years over a fake collusion story, but somehow, the Russians are presumed to be throwing the Europeans energy "security" with a gas pipeline when the Russians have already had a history of turning the spigot off when things get bumpy.

It's absolutely a risk. But like it or not, Russia has the natural gas reserves in Europe, so they have the leverage. Germany is a big boy country. They know the risks. They're not exactly happy about having to deal with Russia on this either. But they need the NG, Russia has it, so it is what it is. Nord Stream 2 was going to happen. Germany had been pressing the US to relent for a long time. It was happening no matter what we did, and our sanctions on Russia over it would just making it more difficult geopolitically with zero impact on stopping it from happening. Maybe if we hadn't spent the last four years pissing off our EU allies things would be a bit better. Of course the reality is that the threat to the US is in the East not the West, and the AUKUS pact is a dose of reality for Europe.

I'm sure you can piece it together from there if you focus really hard.

That's why you posted it.

You can't even bring yourself to critically analyze the factually incorrect, total nonsense that @The_Omega just posted. You just immediately assume it to be true because "duh libs bad!" So, no, we're not going to litigate or try to explain what's already obvious to rest of us. That time has come and gone. We tried it years ago with you MAGAts and look where it got us. Now we're just going to point and laugh.

September 29, 20214 yr f'n progressive dems with their "principles"...dems can't even take a win that's right in front of them with the infrastructure bill.

You can always count on Democrats to be idiots and screw it up. The progressives will sink this, and then the GOP will be able to campaign saying that they negotiated a fair deal and the Dems sank it. Honestly, if the GOP were smart (they aren't), they'd free up a few members to vote yes. Just not enough to pass it. So they could campaign saying that they tried to do a deal, and the Dems spit in their face.

Democrats always lacked it, Republicans managed to keep their people in line. It's getting to where I'm not sure how big an advantage that is for the GOP any more. But the Dems have made no improvements in that regard either.
September 29, 20214 yr The problem is conservative Dems Manchin and Sinema have not revealed how much of the broader spending package they support. Progressives are not willing to sink the entire social spending package in order to win the infrastructure vote. Dems know infrastructure will pass. Now they need to come to agreement with the rest of the reconciliation bill.

Meanwhile, Progressives like Bernie will act like kindergartners. They could get some of what they want, but if it isn't an apple juice box, then you can take that grape juice box and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Because Manchin and Sinema keep talking out both sides of their mouth without revealing anything to anybody. We all know what the progressives want. They've said so. I believe they will accept a smaller social bill, they just to negotiate where make the cuts. If infrastructure doesn't pass, blame Manchin and Sinema for refusing to work with anybody.

They'd be just fine with only the bipartisan bill. 6 minutes ago, JohnSnowsHair said: They might not be reading the Arizona electorate correctly. They are guaranteeing the seat flips to the GOP.
