October 8, 20214 yr do you guys think it's strange that trump attracts the type of people who fly flags with the f word on them and chant the f word at public events? it's such....well.....deplorable behavior.

The political system worked much better when you had moderate Republicans and Southern conservative Democrats. Stifled hard line positions on the left and right and made compromise much easier.

October 8, 20214 yr The real sad thing is I don't see how any president approaches something like 80% approval ever again with how divided we are. It could be Mr Rogers with military record and a PhD in economics and still 40+% would absolutely hate him by default.

I do wonder if a national tragedy/emergency or rise of a true global competitor might not cut through a lot of that. Obviously, 9/11 is what caused GWB to be so overwhelmingly popular in October 2001. It almost feels as if once we lost the Soviets as our external adversary, we had to look internally for someone to hate. I guess said another way...maybe the Russians are playing the long game to win the Cold War.
October 8, 20214 yr Debt ceiling raised, for now. Crisis averted until December. Yet some Republicans are still doubling-down on disinformation. Quote The treasury department acknowledges that raising the debt ceiling would allow the US to continue borrowing in order to finance projects, such as Democrats’ social spending and infrastructure package that is expected to now cost between $1.9tn and $2.2tn. But economists at the department also say that attempts to portray the need to tackle the debt ceiling as an effort to pay for Democrats’ budget resolutions that are yet to pass Congress amount to disinformation, according to sources familiar with the mechanism. The criticism comes primarily because the overriding reason for raising the debt ceiling stems from the fact that the US needs to borrow new money to pay the principal and interest on about $8tn of debt incurred over the course of the Trump administration. Debt ceiling needs to be raised for the debt that is already on the books. It's not about blocking legislation that hasn't even passed yet.
October 8, 20214 yr SO everyone is cool with banks being required to give records to the IRS on any and all transactions of $600 or more? And we are all cool with the $3T spending bill? How about the vaccine mandates? We cool with all that? (FYI I am vfully Vaccinated, and believe in them, I just dont believe in the mandate and what problems that will bring) SO between Bill 124, and the Vaccine mandates, Hospitals have even less available staffing- during a pandemic. We all cool with this right? Elections have consequences.

Employees and employers who cheat the tax system are the target, not everyday citizens who sold a used lawnmower for cash… That being said, I don’t support it either.

Yeah, because like everything the government does, no one will ever abuse this information. It's only to catch the bad guys! Honest this time!
October 8, 20214 yr I don't want the gov't to know any more about my finances than it has to. That said, I actually assumed that as soon as my money hits any bank it's more or less known to authorities. At least practically speaking.

We all cool with this right? Elections have consequences. Banks and the IRS can eat my ass We have a spending problem, obviously. Infrastructure is one of the few things I'm tolerant spending on as long as it's efficiently planned. And yes, vaccine mandates during a pandemic are absolutely logical. Ideally not by federal government decree, but at some level they are needed when a segment of the population refuses to listen to medical professionals and instead selfishly chooses to place others at risk and causes hospitals to become overburdened. Only idiots would oppose vaccination. You don't want the jab? Prove you're not infected with weekly negative test results. This won't bring problems. Stop crying about an election your boy lost almost a year ago. Next time nominate a better candidate. Primary elections have consequences.
