And he already dominates early polls of the 2024 Republican primary. A Morning Consult/Politico survey from Oct. 8-11 found that 47 percent of Republican voters would vote for Trump; no other candidate was above 13 percent. again!!!

November 12, 20213 yr To be fair, a lot of non-insane Republicans likely have stopped identifying as part of the GOP. I am still a registered Republican, because the Presidential primary is closed in CA and I want to vote for a non-insane candidate (sadly, none will run and I will write-in Ron Paul). But that 86% is part of a smaller, self-selecting group.

Sorry, I've been pretty firm on this stance for quite a while. I hope he does not run in 24. You'll vote for him if he's on the ballot come November, you know it, I know it, we all know it. You're not fooling anyone with this charade.

Smart businessman, for sure, in the racket that is ventute capital. Plenty of people who are good at business, though, are significantly less intelligent overall. Nothing about Romney strikes me as particularly smart. At least he's principled, though.

First off, venture capital and private equity are very different things. So try again. Second, dumb people don't start and build one of the most successful private equity firms of all time. I know plenty of people that know him personally (though I have never met him) -- he's INCREDIBLY smart. I know people on the left need to assume all successful people are simply lucky; that anyone could have become that successful if only they had better breaks in life. ***SPOILER ALERT*** -- that's a lie people tell themselves to feel better about their failures in life.

I'm smart enough to never run for public office... Nah -- they just both happen to be in my world. My first job out of school I worked in banking for a guy who did a lot of Trump's deals. Met other people in the gaming business. As for Romney, I know plenty of people who worked at Bain. Hey, my dad volunteered on Biden's first Senate campaign too! Honestly, most people in DE are like 2 degrees of separation away from Biden -- good friend of mine's 1st job out of college was working in his Senate office.

You're right, private equity. I know that you think intlligence directly correlates to the money in one's bank account, but it doesn't. I'm sure you know some stupid rich people.

Said another way -- the dumbest person I deal with in my field is likely of above average intelligence for the general population. Being successful takes many things -- luck, effort and intelligence among them. The truly successful understand risk/reward. When you get breaks in life, you need to take advantage. And when things go against you, limit the losses.
