November 15, 20213 yr It seems like common sense that any advantage would make it easier to acquire wealth if everything else is equal. Intelligence, health, good looks, being extremely athletic or any other trait. None are a guarantee but all would obviously be a help.

Ever hear Jordan Petersen talk about what he feels is a huge issue in society these days? Those people with IQ below 81. Look it up. He talks specifically about the correlation, Speaks about how the Armed Forces have a minimum requirement of 81, or they deem you unable to be trained to do anything for them. The real problem is that 10% of the population is below the Armed forces standard, and most likely pretty incompetent to take care of them selves. And you are not allowed to talk about it and deal with reality for fear of hurting peoples feelings.

What you’re not ever allowed to talk about is how this applies to different demographics. We’ll avoid the third rail of race, but just look at gender. The bell curve explains so much of the differences in men and women. Men have a flatter curve with greater proportions at the tails — both geniuses and the retarded — in numbers. Which explains a lot of why men tend to be the CEO’s and physicists but also the homeless and murderers. Meanwhile women cluster around average, so they have higher graduation rates and lower crime but tend not to produce geniuses.

That was just a social construct of racist white persons to retain power over the masses. Now shouldn't your nurse be changing you colonoscopy bag old person!

November 16, 20213 yr Author I have to get caught up on this thread, I wasn't around the boards much this weekend. Saw Bill Maher on Sunday night in Hershey. Great show; he was in rare form, pretty much hitting everything: Trump, Q, COVID, Millennials/Wokeness. Ended the night with a classic attack on religion. He even managed to sneak in a Lindsay Graham gay joke along the way.

It seems the liberal wokesters on Twitter have really been angry with him lately.

Quote In the wee hours of the morning on Nov. 9, 2016, Donald Trump took to the podium for the first time as president-elect and promised to "begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation.” "We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals,” the former real estate mogul vowed. "We’re going to rebuild our infrastructure – which will become, by the way, second to none. And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.” It was Mr. Trump’s most popular campaign promise, with two-thirds of Americans saying they saw more infrastructure spending as "very important.” LINK Trump paid it lip service for 4 years. Biden got the deal done.

The crowd seemed pretty boisterous/supportive, and Bill seemed to be feeling the love and was complimentary toward us. I think one or two people shouted something dismissive at some points, but the energy was very good overall. I think he's a lot more loose on stage, because he can still get away with saying some thnigs there that he can't say on TV, and PA probably feels like a haven for an old-school comedian living in hyper-woke LA. I'll bet there's an interesting dichotomy between how it feels in the audience at one of his shows here vs. West Coast. Outside of Dauphin County (Harrisburg), Central PA consistently skews Republican. Democrats have a good presence here but are more traditionally liberal, and your average Republican here is pretty much your typical suburban moderate. At the end, he offered some wisdom by repeating the question asked in the media of "What should the Democrats do?" following an electoral derfeat, and you would've liked his answer: "Shut up!"Just stop talking about things 3/4 of the country either don't understand or don't support. Quit playing to the woke crowd. It's not worth the political capital. The only things that Democrats should talk about are healthcare, education, and civil rights (I think there was one more), basically your traditional 20th-century policy positions that were successful. When they do that and stick to that particular line messaging, they usually do well. And if they were smart, they'd seize on marijuana legalization as its national sponsor. There are a huge amount of uncaptured votes that could tip the scales literally everywhere

The CARES Act along with the PPP was the biggest government handout with the least amount of oversight in the history of the United States. A decent idea, and something was needed, absolutely horrible implementation. This infrastructure bill will at least create job opportunities instead of just giving free money to businesses and people not working.

November 16, 20213 yr Author 2 hours ago, ToastJenkins said: Funny how they always allege benefit but leave out the cost side… The cost is obvious; the benefits are not so easily quantified, but they are hugely significant because these are critical areas of need that should pay off long-term for public health and the economy by cleaning up current public health disasters, putting safeguards in place to reduce the impact of future ones, and just generally by expanding access and reducing inefficiency in how we acquire goods and services.
November 16, 20213 yr there is no ROI on infrastructure. its just maintenance. all of that other fluff is just that.... how do you people function being this naïve?

There's no ROI on making roads and bridges safer and expanding/re-routing them to reduce congestion and all the delays and auto accidents associated with it? Doesn't it benefit a company if it can transport goods more safely, taking less time, burning less fuel, and paying less hours for their drivers? Doesn't it benefit an employee and an employer if travel time is reduced and their workers are on-time? These are just a few examples, but if we simply just make people and things move around the country with greater ease, the benefit is obvious. It's just harder to predict at an individual level.
