You zealots keep saying this as if transportation costs, and regulations, aren’t a big part of the pump price.

The point is that there isn't this litany of regulations that magically appeared when Biden became president, despite all your attestations.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

I get a chuckle out of all my conservative friends who post on social media about gas prices.  If paying $40 instead of $30 a tank is breaking you, then you have a lot bigger problems than the price of gas.

I have stated, I can afford the inflation, I'm older, have no real debt outside of an RV mortgage loan and car payment. Have a strong portfolio. I have no plans on any big purchases coming, I could retire now and live just as comfortable as I am living now.

BUT- I feel for those who live paycheck to paycheck. Those who are younger and less fortunate, people struggling to survive on less than $50-60K a year. To those people (and a lot of them voted for this) inflation hits them hard. Sadly, you dont seem to care about them? Young families or single parents just trying to make ends meet?

Maybe thats just me then?

If you’re living paycheck to paycheck what you really should be worried about is big (surprise) expenses, not gas prices.

i.e.  Car repairs or medical bills

You only have a 10 gallon tank?  What are you driving, a Yugo?

Wait wait…this might your hottest turd take yet. Are you saying for a paycheck to paycheck household that a low frequency risk such as an ER visit or a blown transmission should be more concerning then the weekly expense of putting gas in your car to get to work?  Should they be more worried about getting cancer than groceries too?

Gas in Winston-Salem and Greensboro in North Carolina is $3.29

$3.30 * 12 gallons = $39.60

Yeah, I guess.   I don't live paycheck to paycheck and haven't for a long while.  So I admit it's a little hard for me to put myself in their shoes sometimes.

Maybe that's why I don't get the constant griping about gas prices

Don’t need to be able to put yourself in their shoes to have common sense.

Are you touting yourself as someone with common sense?  Because I think that's a reach.

Says the former 13th grade teacher who thinks that paycheck to paycheck families should worry about things like ER visits and not weekly gasoline expenditures.

Yeah, because $40 vs. $4000 is a big difference.  They don’t garnish your paycheck for not being able to afford gas.

Fox News and Tucker Carlson isn’t telling anyone to freak out about the 400% increases in healthcare or the 300% increase in health insurance over the last 20 years…

Gas prices are fluctuating!!! Freak out!!!

One of them happens weekly or even multiple times a week. The other…rarely if ever happens. Which do you think is more pertinent to those living check to check?

Well,  prior to Obamacare, medical expenses was the number 1 cause for bankruptcy claims in America. But I bet you think it was gas prices…

Lmao you guys are talking about bankruptcy, I’m talking about the single mom with two kids who might not eat the day before payday and needs to drive to work. She’s not thinking about bankruptcy. Not saying your statement is wrong. Medical expenses can make even a solid middle class household go belly up quick. I’m talking about people already belly up.

You do know high-poverty and mainly minority neighborhoods live further from their jobs than other groups.

I wonder how they get to work?

I continue to love this continual belief that Presidents can have any near-term impact on the price of oil.

SPOILER ALERT: the Biden administration has had virtually no impact on oil prices. Neither did Trump. Or Obama. Or Bush. And there isn’t much they can do to lower them. Lower oil prices will come from increasing supply, which isn’t going to happen due to OPEC not pumping more and US shale drillers being cut off from capital markets thanks to the insanity of ESG investing. Want oil prices to drop? Tell your pension fund to stop putting ESG mandates ahead of returns.

It’s almost as if you’ve never spent time with anyone other than your breadwinner wife and your former 13th graders.

I used to take the 48 bus from Arch Street up through Strawberry Mansion.  One of my co-workers called it the ride through hell.
