There are many factors at play, the most critical being the length of time from the most recent shot/booster to when you were exposed. The variant matters as well as each successive one is increasingly more adept at evading immunity (both natural and vaccine induced.) No it does not stop the spread completely, but yes it does decrease your chances of developing symptoms and reduces the chances of you infecting others. Latest estimates from BA.1/BA.2 were ~40% protection against infection after 4 months. BA.5 is too recent, so I'm not sure if we have many estimates there, but I haven't seen any that say it's near zero as you've claimed. This is all very interesting, but with the exception of the medical anomaly that is your neighborhood, I would assert that the majority of those in populated areas have been infected despite being vaccinated. We can quibble over the the exact level of effectiveness of the vaccine but the fact is that it is not effective enough to stop the spread...which is/was the primary goal of the vaccine.

I had just got done telling you the majority of the neighbors I hang out with got it despite being vaccinated. Was it the fractions that confused you? I'll be sure to convert them to percentages next time.

I haven't had Covid. My kids who have been in school since Sept of 2020 haven't had covid. My wife who works in a hospital, with covid patients, and has been exposed multiple times, hasn't had covid. One of her exposures came from eating lunch right next to an infected colleague. She didn't get covid. The vaccines aren't 100% effective but to act like they don't work at all is going too far in the other direction.
July 22, 20223 yr Watching people try to spike the football for Biden over .... reads notes ***** his handling of the Pandemic**** and arguing the effectiveness of the Vaccines, as a point, even though Biden had ZERO to do with that. All I know is we shut the country down, added approx 6- 7T in debt over a GLOBAL Pandemic that started in China- most likely created and leaked from a Lab- that we gave money to do do reasearch with. All the while politicizing it along the way, disrupting the supply chain, rocketing inflation, mental illness, social/scholastically stunted children and limited freedoms, all in the name of power. Yay, great job. (Dripping in sarcasm) I dont care who was President at the time, we did not handle that well at all. The sad part, it appears we likely did not learn a damn thing from it all. So go ahead spike that imaginary football you dullards.
July 22, 20223 yr Man, it's super weird that the same guys who were touting ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine also think Trump handled the pandemic better than Biden. Not sure what to make of that paradox.

I'm only saying that the vaccine has not stopped the spread of the variants. Not sure how that is even debatable...or why you guys are trying.

You keep saying "everyone's already got covid" which I refuted, then you say my neighborhood is an anomaly, when it's not. And now you are back to this binary language of the vaccines being unable to "stop the spread", which to be clear, wouldn't have been true even for the original variant because we unfortunately live in country where over a third of the population failed to make the correct choice for the easiest medical decision of their lifetimes.

Yes Harris or whomever could be worse, but not by a large margin. If the current radical progressive driven Left/Dems win the Presidential election again in 2024, it wont matter. Example: Sending our OIL reserves to China, while begging Saudi Arabia for more oil, FFS, while still pushing your anti domestic fossil fuel agenda here in the states? It's like a Microcosm of the entire state of our Government.
