May 18, 20232 yr Some progressives are absolutely a threat to public education. Take a look at SF as the closing argument there. But, uh, red states routinely make up the bottom 40% of the nation in terms of education. It seems that starving public schools of tax dollars and making teachers the enemy also isn't the correct solution, shocking as that may seem. Suburban school systems where republicans and democrats are both able to advocate - sometimes in stupid ways, such as on CBSD's school board - still provide the best environments for academic success. Despite our school board deciding that the nation's culture wars need to also be fought with our kids as splash damage, the academic environment my kids are experiencing is excellent. It's fortunate that the adult-sized children that make up the "Moms for Liberty" and other groups infiltrating the board with their stupidity isn't having a huge impact on actual classroom learning. There are some public school outliers in some cities, like Central High in Philly for example, and I'm sure "some" rural schools are also quite good. But I can't complain. Any political party left unchecked is going to keep appealing to stupid extremes.
