Band gig- missed the game.  Here's hoping they can still nail down the 1st round bye. No matter what- I HATE losing to the Cowboys. But they barely beat us with our backup QB.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

The biggest issue to me was the running game with Jalen is light years better. Also some of the balls did sail and the timing was off.  But I blame Minshew not really playing with the 1's like that.  Also Jalen just doesn't turn the ball over.  We have a 14 game sample and he only had 1 multi INT game.   Gardner played once and had 2 picks.    If one of those turnovers doesn't happen who knows.    Again I'm not mad at Minshew, he did OK.    I just didn't have much confidence in him on that last Drive when he had 4 shots though he did get down there in the end.  Jalen never made me feel that way this season.  If Jalen has the ball on that last drive, we score no matter what.   I know he's still healing but I think we need Jalen one more game and then he can rest for two weeks.   Again Minshew did the best he could, I'm not even mad.    But next week is a Must Win.  Forget the Giants game.  They must beat the Saints so I want Jalen back.

Not worried about Dallas, I can tell you that much.

Let's take care of the Saints and get healthy for our Superbowl run.

After sleeping over it, this may actually be ok. We will now try our best to beat the saints and may end up with the first seat and a better pick.

On the other hand the cowboys didn’t get humbled and will likely proceed to be one and done as usual.

I wanted to win but in the big picture a loss rarely mattered less than this one.

No way? Hurts has turned the ball over. It's not like Hurts hasn't done it this year

He did it but .. half as often as the next best QB? Don’t have the current numbers but ball security clearly is one of his strength.

I think Minshew was alright but Hurts is so damn much better as a player it’s crazy to even compare them.

The likelihood is we win the game with Hurts. It took 4 turnovers for the Cowboys to win, and limiting turnovers is one of Hurts greatest strengths.

Yes. That and the superstar running ability alone should’ve made this an easy win. I actually think if Hurts had started we would’ve seen Minshew Q4.

They didn't beat us, we beat us. Nobody can beat us, only we can beat us.

This game has eliminated any system QB narrative around Hurts.

Now just need him to deliver in the post-season, and we can definitively say that we have our franchise QB, and pay him accordingly.

If Minshew were the every day starter like some of these guys begged for this is at most a 9 win football team. They’re basically the Giants and Commanders without Hurts.

Congrats to them for being a tad bit closer in our rearview mirror

Just like in life it's all how you look at the circumstances... This is most likely a good outcome ... The team is seething now, looking to kick the sheet out of the next opponent... All fans see the difference in performance with Hurts ... If we don't turn the ball over multiple times we win ... Period ... Defense knows they have to play inspired... Bring it on

Merry Christmas 💘🎄

Turnovers give the opponent better field position which hurts the defense.

But the defense owns lots of blame.

Yes I know what turnovers are lol

Well it sounds like Siri will play Jalen if he’s healthy next week.

I'll take apple but cherry is like the universal best flavor for like everything. Starburst, pie, cherry ftw

Jalen didn’t play yesterday, but he was doing something that makes him so special, especially to us Alabama Alumni.

She glanced down at her phone as she heard the ping.
Three-and-a-half years after she lost her son, the text was coming from Jalen Hurts.
Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who is all the talk was talking about Walt.
A small gesture was about to make Walter, Sr. and Betsy’s Christmas a Christmas to remember.

Holidays are difficult in the Gary family.
Memories of Walt come flooding back to Walter and Betsy and the entire family.
They come flooding back to the Alabama family, too.
And they come flooding back to a good man named Jalen Hurts who loved his friend.

Walt Gary was a shining light in the Crimson Tide football program for nearly three decades.
Walt started visiting Bama football practices in the early 90’s  when Coach Stallings ran the show.
Like Coach Stallings’ son John Mark, Walt Gary had Down syndrome.
Like John Mark, Walt Gary brought smiles and warm hearts to coaches, players and fans.

If Jalen Hurts brought excitement to Bama fans, Walt Gary brought happiness to Jalen Hurts.
Each and every Thursday during football season, Walt would deliver his game prediction to coaches and players at the football complex.
Coach Saban would put Walt’s piece of paper in his pocket, while Bama’s quarterback would share hugs and conversation.
The bond between Jalen Hurts and Walt Gary was something to see.

Walt Gary went to Heaven in June of 2019.
Jalen received the news as he was preparing to lead the Oklahoma Sooners later that fall.
That June day was a sad day for the entire Alabama family.
It was a sad day for Jalen Hurts.

It was days ago when Betsy Gary thought she’d text Jalen.
Betsy thinks more about Jalen and her son during the holidays.
"I know Jalen is busy, and he will probably never get the message”, Betsy thought to herself as she sent the text.
"Wow, great season! So proud of you! ... Betsy Gary”, read the text. Short and simple.

She glanced down at her phone as she heard the ping. It was only seconds later.
Betsy's heart jumped.
Jalen wrote:

"Mrs. Gary,

I kid you not, I expressed aloud today how Walt was on my heart. Today I told stories about Walt’s legacy, energy and love! For you to text me tonight is just God doing his work. Hope all is well. Thank you so much!".

Betsy Gary smiled as she read Jalen’s text, her heart throbbing.
It was Jalen Hurts, thanking HER!
"He is so special to our family,” Betsy told me.

Jalen Hurts likely won’t be playing today against the Dallas Cowboys, as he’s dealing with a shoulder injury.
The 24-year-old who has lead the Eagles to the best record in the NFL and is receiving MVP talk will likely be watching from the sidelines.

There IS something that Jalen just might be doing today, and that is thinking of his buddy Walt Gary.
And Betsy Gary? She just might be looking down at that text more often than you think.

Thanks to Jalen for granting me permission to publish his text.
Thanks to Jalen for making Walter and Betsy’s Christmas a Christmas to remember.
And thanks to Jalen for showing us just how special kindness can be.

"What a class act,” said Betsy excitedly before putting down her phone.

"It's going to be a Merry Christmas."

*Be sure to wish Jalen along with the Gary family a very Merry Christmas.

Yeah we might need to see this dude before the playoffs. Get well soon.

Can't risk an L against NO, that is a catastrophic outcome in so many ways. Give Hurts a pain shot and trot him out there.

He can then have the next 2 weeks to rest for the playoffs.

Jalen won his very first Start against the Saints.    They were the #1 Defense against the Run and he destroyed them that game.   Then Last year, Jalen embarrasses them again and he destroys them again.    It's becoming a Season Tradition for Jalen to take down the Saints.    This year should be no different.   Jalen would have had 14 days off by next Sunday.    So I agree, Beat the Saints and go 3-0 in his career then get two fresh weeks off before the Playoffs.

So that's 4 weeks to heal with only one week of playing in-between to make sure to knock off rust.   Minshew can play the Giants game after we lock everything up.    It's not that I don't think Minshew can beat the Saints.  He did a pretty good against Dallas in relief.  But we can't risk anything at this point. The Eagles must lock up the #1 Seed and beat the Saints period.    So I'd rather Jalen play one more game for this regular season and The Birds finishes 14-1 with him starting.   The next win also breaks the Eagles Win Total record.  I don't think 5 weeks off before the playoffs will be beneficial.  He needs some playing time.

If Jalen doesn't play this week, then we know the injury is worse than was let on. This is a must win week ... we can't allow getting homefield throughout plus a bye week linger into a must win the final week of the season. We also can't take it for granted that Minshew plays as well as he did against Dallas for two weeks in a row ... backup QB's are backup QB's for a reason. We gotta go all in against the Saints if Jalen's ok to play.

Lane Johnson out for the rest of the regular season with a torn abdominal tendon.  That will obviously influence the thinking around Hurts and risk tolerance.
