Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Yards per game isn't an accurate measure of an offense. Yards per play is a much better stat. You don't know why this is, and it is honestly getting exhausting explaining basic stuff to you guys.

And they rank 14th. They can move into the top 10, just as easily as they could slide to 17th. Neither are top 10.

Over the last three games, their yards per play would put them at 18th.

Their last game with Minshew would have them at 7.

So again no matter how you slice it, they aren't a top 10 offense as of right now and Hurts isn't a top 10 QB in any metric other than running.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

You know the one that went for almost 200 without him.

Against the Jets. You know, the team with the 29th best rushing defense in the league.

Facts matter, although you don't seem to worry about them.

I think what's even more comical is him going to the Blog to melt down and claim that people are ganging up on him and then running back over here to hide.

Not hiding. That's your safe space. I respect the need for you to have somewhere to go where your friends have your back.

With two of our backs out.

You know, facts matter.

Just like the ones that say neither Hurts or the Eagles offense is top 10.

Sorry you're having a bad day.

I just can't stand the argument that Hurts' running makes his bad passing more acceptable, so let's roll with him at QB.  Does his running help his horrible passing?  Yes.  That doesn't make it OK.  No running bad passing QB has ever won a SB...but there's a first for everything.  Does that mean we need to bash our head against that glass ceiling with a QB that can pass as we try to be the first?

The QB's job is to PASS.  If you have 2 identical passing QBs...one is a running threat...one is not...sure, take the athletic QB who can run.  If you have one QB who is a very good passer and a statue...another who is a very good passer, just slightly infinitesimally worse as a passer, but offers a running threat...maybe you still take the athletic QB who can run.

But you just don't go with a bad passing, running QB.  There is just no rationale for it.  Almost everyone accepts that Minshew is a better passer.  Minshew is a backup who is not a good passer.  And he's still a better passer.  What the heck else do you need to see to know that Hurts isn't the guy?

Because not all the teams ranked above them in points generate as many yards.

Wrong again.  The only team ranked above the Eagles in PPG that is not ahead of them in yards per play is the Patriots.  Seeing as they are 2 spots ahead of the Eagles in PPG, and 2 spot behind in yards per play, I call it a wash.  Eagles are also 3rd in the NFL in points scored by the defensive, which moves them down the PPG ranking by the offense.

I mean facts are facts. The Raiders move the ball at about the same rate as the Eagles but score a lot less points.

New England scores slightly more points than the Eagles but doesn't generate as many yards.

San Francisco doesn't score as many points as the Eagles but has slightly more yards.

Put the stats together and we are ahead of those three offenses.

You may not like the fact that we are solidly a top 10 offense, but we are.

Your own chart shows we are above the Pats or at least tied. So we are 11th. Congrats, you win the internet today. We are not a top 10 offense, we are 11th.

"Jalen Hurts is a top 10 QB"

Every metric says he isn't.

"Well look at their offensive rankings"

That's the entire offense and not Hurts' specifically, but either way every metric says they aren't.

"Yeah well look at their yards per play!"

Okay, still says they aren't

"Well if you add this with this and carry the 2, they are!"

Comedy.

So that only goes 1 way ??  And you totally gloss over that the Eagles are 3rd in defensive points scored.  Would you like to run the full adjustment of PPG deducting defensive PPG, or you wanna just take your loss now ??

Ye, they are 11th. You win.

Except, this.

#Eagles Offensive Rankings Since Week 8: Points/Game . . . 29.7 (2nd) Yards/Game . . . 366.2 (8th) Rush Yards/Game . . . 210.5 (1st) First Downs/Game . . . 22.5 (5th) 3rd-Down Efficiency . . . 51.2% (1st) Scoring Efficiency . . . 53.4% (1st) Explosive Plays . . . 65 (3rd)

Oopsie.

An offense getting better during the season. Who would have thought it.

Hurts stat line since week 8:

63/109 57.8%, 719 yards, 3 TDs, 4 INTs, 71.6 QB rating!

56 Rush attempts 334 yards, 5.96 avg, 3 TDs

Oh man, he's so dynamic!

Which once again brings us back to the offense being good (albeit not top 10) despite Hurts.

Oopsie is right.

The offense got better since they started making Hurts throw less. Who would've thought?

Yup, I focus on passing attempts instead of overall offensive numbers.

The one good thing about today is that you were forced to contemplate how good the offense has been this year under Hurts.

It's nice when someone can learn something new. Glad I could help with your development as a football fan and human being.

Now lets look at offensive PPG.  Eagles are 14th, 2 PPG behind the Pats who are 11th.  So overall, the Pats are 3 spots ahead of the Eagles in offensive PPG, and two spots behind, .1 yards per play behind the Eagles.  Pats are better.

And then if you sort this chart by the last 3 games, Eagles only move up to 12th.

Just face it, there is no measurable metric that shows the Eagles are a top 10 offense because of Jalen Hurts.

Nice try. Just keep saying that like it's true. Just like you keep saying the Eagles can't have a top 11 offense under Hurts.

See what I did there? I improved as a human. You should try it.

I have provided indisputable facts that the Eagles are not a top 10, or top 11, or top 12, or top 13 offense.  They are ranked 14th in offensive PPG and 14th in yards per play.

Honest question, are there are any Hurts Haters with a brain? This is getting boring.

Take out the Minshew game, that drops to 29 PPG.  Then take away the defensive scores, that drops to 24.8 PPG.

Greg Ward dropped a TD and Nate Herbig had a hold on a TD run. So do we count those scores for Hurts?

You have decided to live and die by stats. But when you die by them, you move the goalposts.

Typical Hurts Hater. Getting it wrong for two seasons and counting!!!

I can't wait for season 3 of the constant whining.

They didn't score, they don't count.  And you keep saying 29.7 PPG, 2nd since week 8.  Let me tell you how false that is.

Taking away defensive scores, Eagles actually average 24.8 offensive PPG in Hurts starts since week 8. In that same time frame

Colts, 32.5 offensive PPG

Chargers 28 offensive PPG

Bucs 27.8 offensive PPG

Bills 26.7 offensive PPG

Rams 26.5 offensive PPG

Bengals 26.3 offensive PPG

49ers 26.3 offensive PPG

Vikings 26.1 offensive PPG

New England 25 offensive PPG

Chiefs 24.8 offensive PPG

I mean, I could keep going, but this is embarrassing for you.

@jsb235 edited to add some more teams. Eagles are not even top 10 in offensive PPG since week 8.

If he were to live and die by stats, those same stats would show the following:

Hurts isn't a top 10 QB.

The offense isn't top 10.

This is why rabbits don't use guns.

Looks like they are tied for 10th with the Chiefs to me.
