Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

I don't know Tua may either be leading the way or very much in second place right now... He's having a very very good year. Huge in fact.

The missed games hurt his chances (although you can argue they should help in a way).

I think if Tua had never gotten hurt, it would be a two man race between Hurts and him.

Right now it's Hurts as the clear #1.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Quit twisting my words.  I said he was "a little erratic early in the game"

Sorry I didn’t mean to twist your words. So that means you think he’s in the driver’s seat too? Just to be clear.

Nope.  Does not have the numbers that the other guys have.  Wins are a team stat.

I don't care about individual accolades, I care about titles.  You guys need to stop getting ahead of yourselves, just enjoy the ride.

Titles have nothing to do with MVP. You Wentz guys should know that more than anyone. Tell me what title has Josh Allen won?

Amen!

So Jalen Hurts is not going to have a bad game this year ??

I think his MVP chances can survive a bad game, if he has multiple, then it's up in the air again.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging the "front-runner," but there's still a half season of football left to play. It's way too early to crown the winner.

Hill won't win MVP, but the OPOY is damn near a lock for him.

The Wentz beanbaggers crowned him (even to this day) after week 13 and a loss to Seattle so 4 more weeks right @downundermike

Hurts and Tua are very real cautionary tales for judging a QB too early. They were very much branded as non-franchise QBs, but now are MVP candidates.

Life in the NFL comes at you fast...

Also a Hurts Vs Tua Superbowl would be an Anime level story arc.

After today, Hurts is in the driver's seat for the MVP

As long as "MVP" has "Super Bowl" in front of it, I'll be happy.

Josh Allen is currently the best player in football. He just had a bad game. Let’s relax.

Jordan was the best player in the NBA for over a decade, and so was Lebron. Neither of them won MVP every season that they were the best player.

I see your points but I don't think that happens anytime soon. While those guys only got one Lombardi they still make the playoffs almost every year. Where teams like the browns and lions have been perennial losers because they can't ever get a good enough QB.

Yeah - the fact is the NFL is brutally competitive. Wilson should have definitely had 2 Super Bowls. Brees and Rodgers have been there or thereabouts for years.

Either way, the idea of trading a 24 year old MVP candidate QB is nonsense.

If one team won't pay them someone else will. Playing roulette with qbs every 4-5 years just seems like a bad idea.

I know you’re hoping that he does so you can revisit your INCREDIBLY INACCURATE TAKE FROM THE ENTIRE OFFSEASON that Hurts "can not compare to Josh Allen and can’t possibly have the jump in his 3rd season that Josh Allen did.”

but as it stands right now…..

bad games Josh Allen = 1

bad games by Jalen hurts = 0

keep in mind……. This doesn’t mean crap in the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl/deep playoff run. Playing the "who had more bad games” stat is all about the mvp race. Qbs can have bad games statistically but still lead the team to victory. MVP is a stat-based award.

however….. disregarding a qbs win/loss record in the mvp race is pretty fraudulent and reeks of bias. For some dumb reason wins and losses are tied to a QB. You can’t just not count it all of a sudden because it makes your bias look bad.

Sounds like Josh Allen has a possible injury now too. If that doesn’t keep him out of games it certainly could effect his performance. As long as Jalen stays the course he has a legit shot for MVP.

Yeah. Some teams have literally gone decades between decent QBs.

Mahomes is the Giannis of the NFL.  He should win MVP every year, but the sports writers can creative narratives to make it interesting so other players win it whenever possible.

Right now, the conversation should be Hurts/Tua/Mahomes/Allen/Hill.

Hurts will not finish the season in the statistically rarified air as the other qbs.  His case rests on the eagles being undefeated.  If they somehow go 17-0, Jalen Hurts is your league MVP.  If they don’t, he’s not going to be considered by the end of the year.

Shaq somehow only has one MVP. I’d say he should have at least four or five.

That's not true.  As they finish as the #1 seed in the NFC and he continues playing like he is then he will be in the conversation.

He's on pace for something like 4,300 yards passing, 26 TD passes, 4 INT, 700 rushing yards and 13 rushing TDs.  He will have numbers to go along with his wins.
