Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Lol, that is an extremely oversimplified, convoluted version that you're putting out there to play the victim.

Not playing the victim at all, pointing out facts.

Joe Burrow still has time to make his case for MVP.  He has the numbers, and still get the #1 seed in the  AFC, and will have wins over Mahomes and Josh Allen.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

So someone stated that they prefer the efforts of Patrick Mahomes, man of sub-Saharan descent, and another poster said they are racist for doing so? You really saw someone say that? Who?

Ok, but I wasn't talking about MVP, you brought that up. I mean, we can talk about it, but I don't understand why you directed the conversation that way when I was simply calling out the childish response that 4for4 had to a post about Hurts putting up elite numbers.

Well, to talk about numbers, and others having elite numbers, it ties into the MVP conversation.

Man for someone that doesn't care, you still continue the dialogue.

I'm going to finish it on my end. I'm sure you'll need the last word though so have at it 🙂

Man, the lions really have something going. If the Vikings weren’t coming out on top in all of these last minute victories, Detroit would have that division

I think the Vikings were fools gold earlier in the year.  The team has been exposed of late and is not as good as its record reflects.

Bloating stats doesn’t typically translate into MVP votes without the efficiency behind it:

Since Tom Brady’s record breaking 2007, all but 1 MVP award has gone to Quarterbacks. Only twice in that 15 year span has the league leader in passing yards won the award; a span that included 13(!) 5000 yard passers.

In that same span, the league leader in TD passes only won it 5 times, or just short of half the time.

In 2021 Matt Stafford led one of the best teams in the NFL, and threw 41 TDs. Dude didn’t even make the pro bowl, much less get a single MVP vote. Why? He threw 17 picks that season. Mahomes probably doesn’t throw 17 this year, but as currently with the third most in the league, it is plausible he does throw 14-15… which depending on Hurts could be quintuple the amount Jalen does.

Now the QB with the best combination of TD-INT ratio and passer rating has won the award 10 times in that span, including each of the last 6. That is Jalen this year. Mahomes is second, but there is a gap between them due to the all turnovers, as well as both Jalen’s lead in completion% and AY/A affecting his rating.

Additionally, the voting committee does heavily weigh a QB’s scrambling ability. Twice in recent voting has a player had the best record in the NFL while being viewed as a dominant run threat from the QB position. Both Newton and Jackson won league MVP, despite prolific seasons from more traditional pocket passers who had far greater passing accomplishments.

One can make an argument that they may prefer Mahomes’ style of play or his stat accumulation, but voting tendencies do seem to look for the specific analytics that Hurts is leading in.

Maybe Mahomes, but that's it. Mahomes doesn't present the level of threat that Hurts does running the ball, though, and he's actually been way more careless with the football this year. In fact, if we even have to bring up Mahomes as a valid comparison, then that right there tells you that Hurts is playing at an elite level.

38 minutes ago, UK_EaglesFan89 said:

I don't think anyone is going to argue with that though. Hurts is playing at an elite level. He's rivalling Mahomes who could break the all time passing TD record. It's a great debate and a huge testament to Hurts to be in that debate.

Yeah I mean I may have missed it, but I’ve not seen anyone dismissing any MVP conversation. Hurts is in the lead, but Mahomes is right there and Burrow could still get involved.

But what gets me are those who are slighting Hurts by claiming it’s the team rather than him. The strong team helps for sure, but you just have to watch the games to see how well he’s playing.

And Mahomes also has a great O-Line, the best TE in the league. juju had a 1400 yard year and is still only 26. He has VS, Hardman and weapons out of the backfield.

Hurts is playing at an elite level and I do not believe for a minute you could insert a Derek Carr or Gardner Minshew and still have the same results.

No one is not appreciating it.  The Eagles should go far in the playoffs.

The issue, is no credit is being given to the other 52 guys.  AJ Brown has had a major impact, so has 1st round pick Devonta Smith.  So have the multiple all pro offensive lineman.  So has the offensive coordinator who can call a game multiple ways to take advantage of the opposing defenses weakness.

Hurts has played really well, but to think there is not multiple other QB's who would be doing the same with this roster is just absurd.

Coming from the same group of benbaggers that trashed the whole team for Wentz. 😂🤣😂
And to be clear I’m talking about all the beanbaggers. 😂🤣😂

He's playing at an elite level, dude. Why is that so hard for you to admit? Actually, as an Eagles fan, it's pretty sad you can't just sit back and appreciate it.

Funny the losers who continuously trashed Hurts on the Hurts forum are suddenly surprised people are praising him now. He’s made them all look so stupid they went running away, but now they’re back to spread their hate and bs. Don’t want to admit their wrong so they decided to double down on stupid. 😂🤣😂 Like I wrote before Hurts is gonna take the Beanbaggers kicking and screaming along for the ride. 😂

It’s cause I see through you and your peanut squad. 😂
Question: Why are all of you showing up together now? Do they have minds of their own or do they just follow you? 😂

Loving how somebody ducked the comment clearly showing what a fraud he is. 😂🤣😂

Which comment was that ??  There is a lot of threads on the board and I am all over the place.

Alright @downundermike you don’t want to talk about Wentz and your hypocrisy anymore so let’s talk about Hurts. We’re you right when you said he was nothing more than a running quarterback? I’ll expand the question to your flunkies too if they would like to answer.

Oh obviously how you and your boys praised Wentz and only Wentz for the good, but blamed everyone else for the failures while writing here that everyone else isn’t getting enough credit for the success right now, (which is wrong by the way)  and when I called this out you didn’t acknowledge it. You instead tried to deflect your hypocrisy further showing your fraudulent ways,

I have already said he has played very well and exceeded my expectations.

My bad, that is not what you are looking for.

You were right and I was wrong, here, got something for you.

Take the moment and be happy. Don’t try and Scrooge this for the rest of us. Hurts and the Eagles are playing extremely well. He deserves his accolades, because he’s been darn good this year. So this isn’t the time to try and over critique six incompletions in a game. This is a time to back all the Eagles players even if they proved you wrong. Heck Miles Sanders has proven me very wrong this year. He’s doing everything well that I criticized him for. I am happy he’s proving me wrong. Are you happy that Jalen is proving you wrong?

Yes, I am an Eagles fan, and the Eagles at a minimum should be in the Super Bowl.

That being said, we have been discussing MVP and his impact on AJ Brown, and I will push back on the AJ talk especially.  AJ Brown was a stud before he got here, and is not a stud because of Hurts.  He has had more impact on Hurts than Hurts has had on him.

Mahomes AY/A is 8.5, Hurts is 8.9

Considering the gap in INTs, I’d think there’d be a wider gap between the two in AY/A

If you use ANY/A which @SkippyX loves, Mahomes leads him 7.87 to 7.72

Yeah I thought about which stats I specifically referenced, as AY/A follows similar variables to passer rating: TDs, INTs, attempts, completions, yards.

Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt may be a superior stat overall, but it does incorporate sacks and that doesn’t seem to correlate with MVP voting tendencies.

Would you look at that. A civil discussion!
