I had Genesis for that generation and was poor so didn't ever play much SNES. But I did argue a lot about which system had the better version of Mortal Kombat.

It was $80 because they forced you to buy a manual. Couple that and a marketing campaign of "This game stinks” and it flopped in the US. I got the SNES classic one Christmas and schmoopie said "why don’t you play something you never played before " I picked that because I never heard of it. Fire it up and 3 minutes in I go "Oh it’s an RPG” (still the only one I ever played). An hour later I’m hooked. I probably beat it a dozen or so times now. Also Mortal Kombat sucked regardless of system and yes, SNES was the far superior of the two video game systems. Disagree? Then you can go blast process a bunch of Ds

Then you can go blast process a bunch of Ds I mainly liked the genesis because it had Sonic. I was also a little older and games like Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and more obscure games like Herzog Zwei weren't the type of games Nintendo would allow. Mortal Kombat was overrated, but still a fun time with a room full of friends passing the controller around. Sports games like NHL 94 also had better gameplay on the Genesis (even my SNES owning buddies admitted this). Both were good. If I had to have one in hindsight I dunno which I would pick, since I did miss out on some really good SNES titles.
