Time to put Howie back in the basement? - Discuss Howie Roseman here

Just my guess, but I thought at the time Howie was just trying to get new offensive weapons for Mannion. He also got Wicks, Hollywood Brown and Moore at WR, and brought in Mundt at TE who was supposedly here to block but he sucks.

He should have just got an OT and safety and we'd be better off.

Brown, Moore and Mundt all stink.

The TE room should have been Goedert, Calc, and Stowers. I’ve said this for like 4 months.

An NFL Team, IMO, does not need "specialized” TE’s. If you’re a TE in the Effing NFL, and you can’t block, THEN MAYBE LEARN HOW TO……BLOCK??!! Get the skills. From your Coaches, or your "want to”. Learn it!! It’s not that difficult!

Thanks, for a minute there I was worried you were blaming me personally for the TE roster. Whew!

That’s just crazy thinking.

I totally blame you for us having no edge rushers worth a damn!

No no, you're confused. I said I like edging when I'm not in a rush.

I am firing Siri before putting Howie in the basement.

Siri is blowing games and now we're talking about tanking.

Howie has been successful enough that I think we should ride with him. One thing I like about him is he usually learns from his mistakes. Second point, it's still too early to properly evaluate the last two drafts. There's just not enough distance in the rear view mirror yet.

Howie royally effed the roster for this season. He’s almost at the point in his career where he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

We didn’t need 4 freaking QBs and 4 fricking TEs. We didn’t need a 2nd round draft pick on a hybrid WR/TE. Safety was needed, as well as OLine. He knew Cam and Landon were shells of their former selves. And that a RT was needed.

Ugghhh……

He should be focusing on unloading some of his players that are on 1 year deals, or, who are older.

For everything they gave up to bring in Greenard, they should’ve just kept Sweat.

He could have kept Sweat but gave his money to the bust Bryce Hall instead

He's one of the best GMs in the NFL.....and would be snatched up by some team within a week.

So let's stop this idiotic talk about moving on from Roseman.

I was very critical of Howie in the past for his drafting especially on defense. He has always done a good job on the financial side. I respect that when he was "in the basement" under Chip Kelly, he used that time to network with GMs from around the world in various sports not just football and learn. He could have been resentful - even to Lurie - and quit and gone somewhere else. He brought in Joe Douglas an outside voice from the Ravens, who worked under Ozzie Newsome to learn from him as well. That isn't pride or ego, that was openness to bring in someone else. People accuse Howie of thinking he's the smartest person or having ego, but that move said otherwise. I liked the idea of that move, but it didn't work out, I didn't like his drafts. I don't like bringing him back now and I wonder about his influence in this last draft (he was hired after the 2025 draft was already done).

But Howie went on a great run of drafting and built the core of the defense. This last draft isn't looking great but they may get either the next starting OT or a really great depth piece in Bell. I think Lemon will be a good player, just wasn't worth trading two 4th round picks to move up 3 spots to get him.

Howie is also quick to correct his mistakes and learn from them. He's going to see the problems this year and address them. They've already started reshaping the O line. Last year's 6th round pick Kendall could be the starter next year at Center, or be a valuable backup for improved depth. Howie will want to rebuild the O line because that's been a strength of many teams since Andy Reid's days.

The team made the playoffs 5 years in a row, going to 2 SBs and winning one which was the 2nd SB won within 8 years after retooling with new coaches and mostly new players. This is a down year, and he has strong draft ammo the next two seasons so we will see. If he drafts like he did from 2021-2024 then the team will be rebuilt to contend. If he drafts like 2019 or 2026, that will be the problem.

He also paid Greenard. Sucks that he missed on these FA and trades. He threw a lot of assets at these guys and his current picks aren’t panning out.
