What do you think Wentz will do? Go off the reservation and deep six the rest of his career?

And Hurts has been in this situation in college, he worked hard after he was benched, and was ready for his call in the SEC championship game.

You do realize wentz doesn’t have to go off the reservation for this to blowup in their face right? Locker room dynamic, city dynamic, cap factor for 2022, wentz’s future value. i can think of at least 5 more.

And then he decided to leave Alabama and go to Oklahoma because he wasn’t happy with the situation and his role. Let’s just forget about that fact. So he wasn’t exactly thrilled and then he wanted out. he could eventually be unhappy with his role here. Now you got two unhappy QBs

and just so you know go look at their salary cap next year in 2022 as of right now. They are under the By $512k. Minnesota who’s 31st is about 20 mil under. So that ranks 32nd in the league for 2022. In order to get to the middle of the pack they would have to get to $80 million according to spotrac. So this it’s a one year blip they keep talking about is not necessarily true. They might not be 60 mil over but they aren’t in great shape for 2022 either even after they make some moves.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Thank you for replying so I didn’t have to reply to that. Add on you’re gonna have the fans and media screaming for hurts as soon as Carson has a poor throw or game. Like this has all the workings of some thing that blows up in their face. Sadly the only one believes that it couldn’t is him because you’re in a rebuild. Just cause you’re in a rebuild doesn’t mean you can’t have a situation completely become even more toxic and elevate to another level.

NFL Radio had Paul Domowitch do a segment on the Eagles-Wentz situation tonight; what a POS that guy is.  He told Vic Carucci "Wentz’s people have told the Eagles he doesn’t care who the coach is — he wants out”.  Fantastic that he’s got exclusive access to ‘Wentz’s people’ ..... or, he’s full of ish.  He also layed it on heavy that Wentz has never been "suited to the Philly market the way Donovan McNabb was.  Reid drafted McNabb over Duante Culpepper because he didn’t think Culpepper could handle the Philly market ..... oh, he also preferred McNabb as a QB, too”

Dan Leberfeld was the co-host, and said whichever team gets Wentz will get a steal; he believes once Wentz is out of Philly he will resume being a top-10 QB

I don’t know about that part that domo said. He was fine prior to the foles super bowl run and fine at the end of 2019. So saying he couldn’t is not technically true cause it wasn’t as big of an issue til now.

i kind of agree with leberfeld. he could be a top 10 QB again. I think where he goes matters. Indy i can definitely see it. Bears i feel offensively are similar to where the eagles are if robinson isn’t back. If he does achieve that status again (top 10) then whoever trades for him is getting him at a good price assuming it’s not a two firsts

If Wentz isnt traded I think he will come in and be a professional.  Most likely he will beat out Hurts to be the starter.

But oh man, if he plays like crap again and is benched a 2nd time it wont look good for his career.

Wentz could be a top ten QB in Indy, Chicago? Not so sure, he needs the right situation.

But I don't think he's going to play until 35, a couple more injuries and I see him doing what Luck did, take the money and retire before he's a damaged middle aged man.

And it may have been the sequence of injuries that soured Howie on his future, Wentz wouldn't be the first promising QB to break down by his early 30s.

When Howie signed him to the extension, he was coming off two top ten seasons, he was only going to turn 27 in December 2019, the extension covered age 28-31, it was a reasonable assumption at that time that he would be playing at a high level through his contract. And he did play all 16 games in 2019. He may well go elsewhere and play at a high level for 3-4 years. Sometimes crap happens.

The reason they had confidence in the first place was that he played a pro style system in college, so they could get a better read on his skills than with most college QBs. Problem is he also played at a small college in a rural area, so it was a big cultural shock.

Yeah it’s what i stated. Chicago has Nagy as HC who i don’t think is particularly very good. So that doesn’t help him. Add on robinson his best weapon might also potentially be traded (if franchised) or gone. And their oline when healthy is still not that great. Meanwhile Indy has much better coaching, better weapons in hines, Taylor, Pittman, pascal, Cox, Doyle and likely Hilton back and a top 5 oline and they got a ridiculous amount of cap they can spend to add. So yes much easier to see him being a top 10 QB in Indy over the bears.

I have no reason to believe at this point that Wentz winning the job would have anything other than his contract and trying to showcase him and hope he can salvage some value for a trade going forward.

From all the "reports” I think we are in the traditional Mexican standoff. Doug/Sirianni with Wentz, Howie with Hurts and of course Lurie with "Unstoppable” Sudfeld.

No reason not to bring back sudfeld. Could wind up beating out both hurts and wentz...

He would win the job not just because of his contract and they want to showcase him.  He'd win the job because he's the better QB, at least right now.  Unless Jalen comes in to TC and improves drastically which I dont see.

Based on last year that's simply not true though is it. Wentz was the worst QB in the league, Hurts was better than that. That's not to say Hurts was great but he was better.

This is alot like everything in the world today.  The anti-Wentzers want to apply all negative to Carson, while being overly "rosy" with Hurts.  The stats do not lie. He was not better...may not have played worse...but he was not better.  That "worst" moniker could apply to him, if given the same amount of games to prove it.  He was just a different QB than Wentz, who ran around and made some exciting plays and the fan boys swooned.

He was better. The eye test shows he was better. He wasn't great, he was probably about average but he was better. It may not have been by a lot but he was better.

If you say so, UK. The data doesn't back that up in any significant fashion, including a lower winning percentage (the main data point).   The eye test has a a name - opinion. We should use that term instead going forward.

We will likely get to find out soon enough.  Hopefully, Sirianni can build the "one read and dash" offense that Hurts needs.

Eye test...aka film, he was not better.  He missed reads, underthrew passes, had horrible accuracy (just to start).

Both QB's got benched for bad play.  On the flip side, the eye/film test, while opinion means a lot more than stats and data IMO...but obviously is easy to have competing views.  That said, you're right, and I'd argue Hurts was objectively worse during his period of starting.

We had a year without fans at the Linc, give or take a few games.  I can't imagine how pent up some are and the minute they aren't happy, the fans in the stands are going to let Lurie know all about it as loud as possible.

It's not just the quarterbacks.  You already see the team taking sides.  You're going to have Team Carson and Team Jalen in the locker room.

Then you have the Philly sports media.  SURREEEE they won't try to add any fuel to the fire pestering players with questions about the quarterback, peppering Siri with questions even if nothing bad has happened yet.  They WANT a controversy.

I can see it now.  Carson has an OK game, nothing great, maybe a few missed throws or a fumble.   "NIck, did it ever cross your mind during the game that Hurts might have a better grasp of the offense and he might perform better?"

According to the "experts" Wentz was gonna be traded last week.

Now i'm seeing Ertz will be traded this week or bundled with Wentz in a trade.

While i don't expect to see Ertz back i think the so called experts are just making things up.

So maybe the best policy is the "Quarterback" is whoever's healthy enough to do the job that day.

And stop worrying so much about the Quarterback.  Hit somebody.

In todays NFL that'll get you fined or suspended. Dawkins couldn't play in todays NFL

My eye test sees the same... him fumbling alot, not reading defenses well, completing a low amount of passes, and running fairly effectively (like a good RB)....all the stats back those up.  My eye test also says it is exciting to watch sometimes...but losing at a high clip still stinks (backed up by the scoreboard)..

Yes they did. Not by big hits like we've seen in the past. TB had a great game plan going in and KC played like crap.

You have to wonder how much of KCs problem was the situation with ARs kid

I think the situation is more of a series of powder kegs on a time delay...we are already 2 or 3 deep in the chain reaction.

Why are we in a rebuilding situation?

Doug's fault.
