I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Also, if it weren't for his accident they probably don't develop the HANS device to help drivers survive neck/head injuries.  You wonder if his death has actually saved countless lives afterwards.  I know racing guys either love or hate Dale (kind of like our Wentz/Hurts debate!).

The announcer said, despite Earnhardt's 7 championships, his greatest legacy is that he made NASCAR develop excellent safety protocols and since then, there have been no fatalities in any of their 3 levels of racing.

Do we have a link that shows Carson saying that? Not a reporter writing a tweet or article that he "thinks" Carson wants out? No one has been able to produce that. Its all speculation.

The fact that he's not spoken out says that. People can dismiss that all they want. People can argue that all they want but that's very likely the reality.

I doubt Carson himself said it.  The rumor is that (through his agent) he apparently let the Eagles know that he wants to start or else he wants to be somewhere where he can start.  (And that's basically asking for a trade, if the rumor is true.)

Yes they did. Not by big hits like we've seen in the past. TB had a great game plan going in and KC played like crap.

You have to wonder how much of KCs problem was the situation with ARs kid

The gameplan was trash to begin with and they had backup tackles. I don't think the car accident had anything to do with it

Wondering why some have said this only because some reporters have claimed it?

Even though false reports are claimed weekly that hes unhappy and will request a trade. He has hated Doug, Hated Howie, Hated Frank, Hated Flip but he has yet to say it out of his own mouth.

I think Wentz is one of the more mentally stable QBs in the league. Has been silent on the social scene which is a good thing to avoid drama. Hasn't blown up on a presser. Hasn't thrown any teammates or coaches under the bus. Hes done nothing but be a professional about the situation despite all the fail made up rumors. There has been zero evidence to state otherwise. Still trying to figure out how he doesn't have what it takes mentally?

He has to reject and deny every wrong rumor about him and must state each year that he wants to play even when under contract

Every QB does this

Howie really gambled with Johnson and all the restructures. They are pretty much tied together until 2024 until it starts to make sense to move him.

Very strange how he did those contract knowing both players have struggled with staying healthy

Hopefully they can stay healthy next season

Wentz Washer or Squirts for Hurts, choose your side and fight

Where does "washer" come from? I've heard "washed" but that's for describing a player that can't play anymore.

Current cap situation for the eagles in 2022. They are under it but barely. Even if they make some moves that they can they are at the moment roughly 30 million behind the 31st team on the league in Minnesota. So this blip howie and Lurie keep selling is not a one year blip.

I've been discussing that cap problem for a while... and mentioned the need to go with a scorched earth plan for the 2021 season, to keep as much of the hits on the 2021 cap, not the 2022.

Players like Brandon Graham cost the same on the team, as if they cut/trade him.  However, if they move on from him now, they can clear ~$12M off the 2022 cap.

Off topic, Daytona 500 is today...not a NASCAR fan but just saw something that I never knew.  Dale Earnhardt's accident was the last lap of the race.  Man that's pretty unbelievable and just horrible luck.  Also, if it weren't for his accident they probably don't develop the HANS device to help drivers survive neck/head injuries.  You wonder if his death has actually saved countless lives afterwards.  I know racing guys either love or hate Dale (kind of like our Wentz/Hurts debate!).

Hans was coming either way,  prior to Earnhardt passing,  john nemecheck died, along with adam petty  , both from head trauma in wrecks. Losing Earnhardt only expedited things.

I think its a fact that you have no proof and your going off speculation of reporters. Thats the reality of it. Until Carson says it himself like many other QBs/Players have done, then we can't call anything a fact.

I think Carson is smart not talking. Does him no good either way. The ONLY people who want him to speak publicly is those who want to bash him. He's playing it cool and really the professional way.

I believe the Eagles will not trade Wentz without at least one 1st round draft pick, and it has to be for this upcoming draft.  Why?  Recouping the #20 or #21 pick from CHI or IND will allow them to draft QB at #6 this April, and still have another first round pick to draft a player at another needed position.  If they could get a top 15 pick for Wentz (from either DEN or NE) that makes drafting a QB even more likely.

For me, I would prefer wait.  If Wentz forces a trade then go with Hurts for a couple of years (as painful as that might be to watch) and build up a young core of talent on the rest of the roster — then go draft your QB on a rookie deal.

One of the more tangible losses as a result of the cap mismanagement is Zach Ertz.

Sure, he was majorly disappointing this year.  But he has enough of a track record that teams might have offered something in the mid rounds.  Or, he would have been a nice, steadying pass catching presence for one last year as we try to either salvage Wentz or develop Hurts.

Instead, they HAVE to cut him.  Everyone knows it.  No one is going to float a pick when they know he’s getting released by necessity.

I’m for the scorched earth plan especially if you clear space for 2022 and get some draft capital back. I love Brandon but he’s gone after this year anyway so might as well accept it now and get some value back for him. I hate saying it but it’s true. Ideally never want him to play elsewhere and finish up here but i also think long term makes more sense. Plus gives him a last chance at competing for a SB. He’s not getting that here in one of his last prime years

To be fair that’s, that’s going to drastically change. That’s with Malik having a $23M cap charge and Alshon at $14M. There’s others like Goodwin being $7M and of course Wentz being the big one.

They reworked the Malik and Alshon contract to lower the cap hits for 2021, which likely means they pushed money from 2021 into 2022... so there wouldn't be as much savings in 2022 as you might think.

If Wentz is moved this year, then that's a big savings though - $31M.   That's the good news.   The bad news is that this team is still going to be stuck with no QB.

I’d be happy if they could just keep the 2023 cap clean, but I don’t even expect that.  Without bothering to look it up, I’m pretty sure Cox, Lane, Brooks, and Wentz will all have dead money in 2023.

When howie talked about the cap after the season was over and about the future i don’t think he was banking on wentz being traded so that cap space they get is more cause it would be an untenable situation not cause they planned that out.

Agreed... Which is also one of the biggest reasons I wanted Howie gone.  He's been borrowing from the future for far too long, and generally with the worst structures of contracts.

Due to incompetence.

I think it was something like if your a fan of him you wash his balls or something stupid. I don’t know, it was always a 2/10 insult

Didn't they offer different numbers to Ertz who kept saying no?

He wanted big money but he wasn't worth it

From what I recall they didn’t actually push any money into future years with those 2, just lowered their base to the minimum. Saints just did something similar with Brees. I could be wrong on that thought.

Exactly.  It seemed like washing his feet would have made far more sense, what with the "Ginger Jesus” stuff and his religious beliefs — but some on here are ‘less enlightened’

He never should have been extended, even at the numbers the Eagles reportedly offered.  He should have been traded last offseason.  But they can’t even afford him on his current contract now.

I'm sorry but I just do not agree. Carson has spoken out on many things in the past. He's always been very good with the media and facing up. Or being visible on social media. And now he isn't all of a sudden? He wants out. Its been very well reported that he wants out and his silence just furthers that.

If it’s cause they both start with W then we can start hurts huggers. Or if we draft fields, fields f****rs

I think the Eagles silence points more in that direction.  If they didn’t intend to trade Wentz Howie would have/should have been front and center denying those reports.

I believe it’s a mutual parting as of now, which is unfortunate.  If the Eagles were committed to Wentz he wouldn’t have the desire to move on.
