You know what confuses me in all this?

This trade involves a 28 year old franchise QB, once a surefire MVP, once considered a generational talent, the #2 overall pick, a $100m+ contract, a malcontent, the worst passer in the NFL in 2020, first round compensation.  Look at those extremes.  The FO on the losing end of this deal will lose their jobs.  (Even Howie).

GMs need to try to win deals with each other, but why not just condition out a bullet-proof transaction so that no one gets embarrassed?

Start with a 2021 3rd round pick.  If Wentz plays 8 total games in the next 2 seasons, that's all we get.  If he starts 15 games, throw in something for that.  If he makes the playoffs?  More. Probowl 2021?  2022?  SB?  More, more, and more.

If he turns into Aron Rodgers or 2017 Wentz, we end up with a well-deserved 3 first round picks.  If he has a post-Eagles career like Sam Bradford, the other team only has to give up a measly 3rd round pick, so they didn't get burnt either.  

With Wentz' extremes, this has so much potential to blow up in someone's face.  It's a bit less exciting, but just stratify the risk out of the deal with innumerable conditions so you get exactly what he produces.

I still think no one has any good idea on what exactly is going on. The first narrative was "Carson desperately wants out". Now its being spun that he's holding up a trade because he doesn't want to go to Chicago.

Yep.  From what I have seen, Colts have offered 2 second rounders, and another team said they have a better offer, but no report what that offer is.

I think it's been safe to assume from day 1 of the offseason that Carson wanted out.  I don't begrudge him that.  This place is a dumpster fire.  Whether he wants out badly enough to force a trade or if he'd be willing to make the best of things...that's the more important question.  Because I'm wondering if he's being shopped because he's forcing a trade or because the Eagles want to trade him regardless.  

First we heard that the Eagles were only screening for coaches that wanted to fix Wentz.  Doug was out because he wanted to move towards Hurts.  Then we heard the EXACT opposite.  Doug wanted to fix Wentz and the FO was ready to move on.  

So the only thing we know for sure is that misinformation and misdirection are percolating everywhere.  I would like to know what the Eagles actually, originally wanted to do with the QB decision and if the Wentz shopping is of their own doing or if Wentz forced them into it.
