I know who you were talking about.  But the name calling (weak and uneducated) was directed at me so when you say he calls names too....then you should know you were talking about me.  And Yes, I can take it.

Bacarty...on the other hand.

Beast said Bacarty shouldn't name call. I told him that it's pretty fair game since you're constantly name calling. And as you say now you can take it

It is what it is

Which is the problem.  Do you trust these scouts?  Scouts that he employs?  Something about, not wanting to be a part of a club that would allow someone else as a member?

I trust the scouts more than Howie

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

They also beat two teams that had just lost their LTs.  Talk about Brady luck.

Bucs lost their starting RG , injuries are part of the game , good teams overcome them.

Her gofundme is almost at $500k so that should help. Haven't heard whether the mother is going to sue or not

I would think the parents would have to sue depending on the severity of the injuries.

  Ok, whatever.  Thanks for officiating the kerfuffle.  🤺

You trust the scouts employed by Howie more than you trust Howie?  I guess.  6 and 1/2 if you ask me.  They'll just blame Siriananianinani (sp?) if/when it's a crap pick.

It wasn't officiating anything but sure

And yes I already said I trust the scouts more

I'd sue. Don't know if the little girl is going to have any difficulties later on. The mother will need all the help she can get

Our scouts have done a ish job as well as the rest of the front office......

What makes you say that? Very possible Howie ignores them and picks his own

Howie has job security but they don't

When are we trading this evil evil man?  Get him out of here.

I am pretty sure if the Eagles trade Carson, Giovanni is gonna get up out of that wheel chair and start dropping people with right hands.

According to Panthers beat reporter and ESPN insider , the Panthers are preparing to make a strong push for Deshaun Watson and "will do whatever it takes to get Deshaun Watson, and that includes giving up three first-round draft picks and Christian McCaffrey.

Broncos are great trade back partners in the draft if it doesn’t fall how they want top 5

You're assuming we have good scouts and Howie is just going against their every word?  I'd rather go with, the whole f-ing thing is broken because of the twerp who built it.  Not just because of the twerp's interference.  Good execs surround themselves with good people and let those people manage from the bottom up.  You give Howie more credit then he deserves.  I don't trust he knows what a good scout is.  And if we have any good ones, it's by dumb luck.

Then why would you trust him with a lower draft pick more than a higher one?

Honestly jail doesn't help that girls' family with medical bills and care.   I think Missouri has caps on non-economic damages so a claim for pain and suffering will be limited.  Because she is a minor, even if she has a significant permanent brain damage that disables her for life, those damages are likely too speculative for a jury to be allowed to consider.  A loss of future income isn't part of a claim for economic damages for a child.  So chances are that Britt Reid will not fully have to compensate that family for the harm he caused.

I believe Missouri only has caps on non-economic damages in Medical Malpractice cases, not in Personal Injury cases.  Thus pain and suffering, loss of companionship etc. may be unlimited. Loss of future income damages would likely be too speculative for a minor of five years old.  Likely, but not necessarily completely eliminated.  For example, if she suffered permanently debilitating injuries that would make her unlikely to be able to be employed full time, there may be argument for at least minimum wage loss.  I don’t think any economic theory of median wage has been tested in Missouri, a plaintiff friendly state.
Because of his history of DUI, it is quite likely he will face a punitive damage award.  Missouri does not allow for punitive damages to be covered by insurance so it is likely that the plaintiff may work to maneuver the defendant to pressure the insurer with broad liability arguments and damage arguments to accept a higher settlement rather than have Britt face uncovered punitive damages. We all know how that game is played.  Now MO does have a collateral source rule and does formulate punitive damages so the defendant does have that going towards limiting damages.  Personally I favor collateral source as it limits the plaintiff to only being paid once for the same damages. The punitive formula is based on Supreme Court cases.  Personally, I favor Colorado’s approach where punitive damages are treated like a fine and go to the state. She can collect against future medical and upkeep if she is permanently brain damaged.
My guess is Britt probably has a smaller policy limit because of his past DUI.  Assistant coaches make okay money but probably at his level of experience not six figures so he probably doesn’t have much in assets beyond his insurance.  If a lower limit, the insurer is probably seeking permission to disclose the limit without the need for discovery through litigation. He probably was unable to obtain an umbrella policy because of his past DUI and road rage incidents.  It is quite possible the insurer has already tendered its limits.
MO requires court approval of settlements with minors.  In cases like that we would offer limits on a smaller policy pretty early and offer a "friendly” suit where we would pay for the lawyer to file it with the court to get approval.  (No offense but in a tender case, there is no need for the child to incur a contingency fee where at least a third goes to the attorney). We would fund the guardian ad litem (party, usually a lawyer, appointed by the court to watch out for the child’s interests). If there was a collateral source that did not have lien rights to bite significantly into the funds available, we would offer to structure the settlement. (As you know, some of the toughest negotiations sometimes are with medical lien holders). It is amazing what a 13 year vacation can do for payouts in a structure when the child reaches adulthood.  Stretch it even further and payments could get quite decent at milestones in adulthood.  (Of course certain, if you need cash now entities love taking advantage of folks to buy such future payments for outrageously low amounts. Leaches, if you ask me.)
Let’s hope the child makes a full recovery with no long term residuals and that Britt straightens himself.

The issue is more like Carson wants out, over the Eagles wanting him out.  Maybe if Howie went, Carson would stay, but it sounds like he wants in elsewhere. Annoying, sad, but such is life.

At least he's not Prince Harry and doing a 90 minute interview with Oprah over this though, after asking for his privacy.  So there is that one, I suppose. 😉

That’s what you get for putting a random family with historic inbreeding on a pedestal.  Of course, as an American, I’m in a massive glass house when it comes to putting undeserving people on pedestals.  So I should probably keep quiet 🤐

1/2/5 is a haul, IMO.  Howie would deserve a pat on the back for that.

Would he though?  He traded 2 1sts and a 2nd to draft Wentz, plus gave him a huge extension that is just about to click in and the Eagles will take on a huge cap hit.

If Howie can get even a single first round pick back for Wentz, that's something, but nothing he gets back will guarantee that this team has a franchise QB under control for the next 10-15 years... and that's what the move to draft Wentz was all about.   So, Howie screwed up.  Getting something back in the midst of this ridiculous crap is like Secretariat breaking his leg coming down the stretch of the Belmont Stakes and being sold for slaughter as dog food.   Sure, its better than nothing... but it sure isn't what the goal was. Howie created this mess as much as any other single individual (save for perhaps Lurie), and yet he's still here with supreme job security.  It makes me sick.

Essentially you are. You rather take the gamble of a lower pick with more chances of 'their guys' coming off the board than with only 5 guys by the time we pick at #6

If you don't trust Howie at all then logically you should want to stay

The Queen isn't happy and you don't want to get on her bad side...   Memories of Wallis Simpson live long

Trading back from #6 to 11 or 12, if possible, makes a lot of sense to me.  BUF traded two 2nd round picks to TB in order to climb from #12 to 7 to draft Josh Allen (TB did throw in #255).  If the Eagles could get a 2021 2nd and a 2022 1st (or even 2nd) that would help a rebuild, and should still have at least one of Pitts, Surtain, Farley, or Waddle on the board to choose from.

Even if Howie didn’t get a 1st round pick for Wentz (I still think he will), then the minimum return should be two 2nd round picks, a 3rd, and a young player on a rookie deal.  Perhaps swindle someone into paying a 3rd for Ertz (I still think a 5th is more likely), and the Eagles would have some strong draft capital to accelerate a rebuild.

The issue isn't #6.  He will have plenty of opportunities to screw up other draft picks too.   Hitting on 6 will be nice.   Hitting on 6 & 37 would be better.  Hitting on 6, 37, and a few others from trades would be even better than that.

Right now, the defense of Howie of 'he does better when he's drafting higher', is pretty lame.   Yeah, most teams do, that's where the vast majority of Pro Bowlers, All-Pros and HoFers come from.  Meanwhile, that's just one player.   This team needs far more than that, and we have Howie to thank for how bare the cupboard is.  Giving him more rope just makes this situation worse.

I seriously doubt if Austin Gayle gave any thought to the price of moving up from #6 to #3, either.

That would be a franchise-ruining decision — almost reliving the Sixers drafting Shawn Bradley-level bad.
