You think Chase spreads the field?

You don’t have to be a burner to spread the field. Out of all the rookie WRs in the draft he’s 2nd in TD’s of 20+ yards, and only one behind 1st place despite not even playing last year. His average is 21.2 yards per reception. You tell me.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

What's his YAC?

No, the idea would be to do something like this:

Trade from 6th to 9th/10th

Then again from 9th to 12th/13th

Then again from 12th to 15th/16th

Then again from 15th to 20th/21st

Each time you traded down you would accumulate 2nd-4th round picks

I know what the idea is, but it’s never happened in NFL history.

Get er' done, Howie.

I just see no value for Chase at #6, none.

A 6” possession contested catch receiver without burner speed who has 1 year of productivity and sat out rather than play football to maintain his stock because his team lost talent?

At #6?  Hell no.

All this Boldin talk, but I think the real best case comparison for Chase is Hines Ward.

It doesn’t matter. This is classic overthinking it and getting caught up in technicalities. He can win all over the field and create big plays. He’s not Jordan Matthews.

TBH, he's probably my 3rd or 4th ranked receiver in this draft. I like him but not as a top 10 pick.

If that’s the comp 6 is to high

If you’re in a rebuild, like the Eagles are, Howie should be answering the phone every time his draft slot comes up.  The challenge is other GMs aren’t going to offer sufficient value to move up after the top 4 QBs are off the board.

Maybe he won’t be back 😞

I never said he was Jordan Matthews and I think he's capable of "winning" all over the field but he's not a "field stretcher/burner".  Anyway, I think he will be a very good NFL receiver just don't expect him to be the next Justin Jefferson.

Even though he was younger and better than JJ?

Nope.

In college.

What Justin Jefferson accomplished this past season was something that happens once every 10 years, maybe.  He was the 4th or 5th ranked receiver and played like a generational rookie talent.  The odds of Chase having that same type of success is exponentially less....it just doesn't happen.

I will say, the one thing that impresses me the most about Chase is that he really does play like a 6'3 receiver out there.  When I first started evaluating him, I was shocked to see that he's only 6'0.  The question is... will he still play like a 6'3 receiver against NFL cornerbacks and safeties?

Chase is the second overall prospect in the entire draft according to Jeremiah and people are acting like he’s not a top 10 pick

Think he was talking about WRs beating him on double moves.

That makes no sense. If you want to say he may not have as good of a rookie year as Jefferson, ok. To say he will never be better based on nothing when he already has been is just nonsensical.

I just worry about him and all the players that ended up sitting out this past year.

I'm hoping if they take Chase that they did their homework and then some on him.

I can see him wagging his finger back out the ones who took advantage

I know some people weigh that more heavily than others. Personally, as long as he is in shape and has a good showing at his pro day it’s fine. He’s not going to magically forget how to play.

I’ll also just say it’s very odd to me people bring up Chase opting out all the time but it’s never brought up for Parsons who also has red flag character concerns.

There’s a pretty significant dropoff after Chase, Smith, Waddle (top 12)....Bateman, Moore (top 25).

I like Bateman a lot, think he’s being undervalued.

Before the draft last year, I read a lot of negative comments about Justin Jefferson... about his inability to separate, inability to get deep, inability to get YAC, inability to play outside... and even about how he wasn't even the best WR on his own team.  When people said that, they were saying that Jefferson's finalyear was inflated production because of Chase (who greatly outproduced Jefferson, and set the SEC season record for yards and TDs... in his first real action).  There's a lot of revisionist history about Chase going on.   A lot of it is due to sitting out last year, but more of it I see as people trying to sound smart, or have a hot take.  But all this nonsense about him not being Jefferson in the NFL is just ignorance.  Very few people thought Jefferson could do what he did last year in the NFL... and not one person arguing against Chase now thought Jefferson was the better WR one year ago during the draft process... not one.

I'm against WR at 6, but not because Chase is a bad prospect or anything close to that.  Reading the nonsense about Chase I am makes me want to steer clear of this place as it just proves the ignorance of so many, or the need to be different. A year ago, Chase was likely the best WR prospect in the NCAA and would have likely been the highest drafted WR in that draft had he been eligible.  Any criticism of him now was NOT there a year ago.
