Trading down from 6 makes a bit of sense for roster building/composition in 2022/2023; depending on what other trades, etc are made.  The roster needs a drastic youth movement, so gaining cheap depth at LB, DT, DE, CB, well the whole D should be a preferable outcome.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Quote me where I am ok with trading Wentz?   I just know it’s gonna happen now.  I didn’t sign off on it.

Do you think Doug Pederson is a good coach?  Serious question   Because that SB winning coach got zero interviews before or after he was our HC

Blue chip player at pick 6?   Do tell.  I’m curious who that guy is.  Because I don’t see him.   Fill us all in.  Please.

You’re special

My only hope is that they don't panic and think they need to take a quarterback this year if Carson is indeed traded.  None of the quarterbacks really jump off to me

2022 draft-  I've mentioned Sam Howell a few times and I really do love him as a prospect.  The only downfall there is he's listed at 6-1 so realistically he could be 6' or even shorter.  Not sure how that size will translate to the NFL.

I'm also really intrigued by Florida's Emory Jones.  6-2, 210 and he should break out in 2021.  I think he will end up being a poor man's Jalen Hurts unfortunately.

If I'm the Eagles, I have my eyes set on Clemson's D.J. Uiagalelei.  He'll only be a sophomore this year so he won't be draft eligible until 2023.  I think his potential is through the roof.  Unlike Howell, he's a tank at 6-4 250.  Guy has got a rocket for an arm and he's built for the NFL.

Ideal world, Carson comes back, all is forgiven and he regains his MVPish form and is happy to be here.

For better or worse, spending a 2nd rounder on Hurts and trading away Wentz lends to a season of Hurts as QB1 just to see what you have.

Depending on the cap number, then getting a Vet QB2 to be there as a guide.

I think they panicked last draft and took Hurts.   I won't put it past them but to feel QB panicked now would be sad.  The caveat being the new coach loves one of the QBs in the draft

I'd rather we get players who can block or cover the other teams receivers.  I'm tired of us throwing high picks at receivers.  We need to fortify the foundation of a winning football team.  Not add a new coat of paint.

Bro, we have players that can block. If anywhere the line has some decency to it (If Kelce hangs in) we're not replacing everyone this year anyways. And we've "thrown" high picks at more positions than just receiver the problem is exactly that we "throw" them at players that are busts. For once I would love a player that sveral people have heard of and like. Build over the next two years but build right.

Anyhow that's my pov as always I can be wrong

There is plenty of talent in this draft  , and the good teams will find it, tough year to be trying to find it though ,with no combine or private workouts.

I agree with others trade back and add additional picks.

Of course there's lots of talent but aside from Trevor Lawrence, there really aren't any must have prospects.  There is no Chase Young this year unfortunately.  I would love to have a defensive lineman stud that we could be discussing a trade up for but there just aren't any.  It sucks, the Eagles finally have a top pick again and the best thing to do with it is trade down.  Just the way things go for the Eagles.

I'm just responding to you responding to me.  I think forcing a WR or TE at 6 is not smart IF we have a chance to trade down to the mid 1st and get another 2nd and 3rd....That's IF we have a chance, obviously.

Either way Howie will find a way to screw it up

If this happens, the turn on Carson will be something.

I agree with you about the quarterbacks in this draft, except Spiccoli who I think will be excellent.  I do think the Alabama kid has a chance to be a starter as well, but it's far from a surety.  Not sure at all on the others being discussed in the top 10.

That said, I think the Eagles will need to have a clear direction before 2023.  I highly doubt that Hurts is the guy, though it remains possible.  If he is not, it probably means they are better off getting someone they can build around either this year or next year.  Given the team history and stated direction as a QB Factory, it just seems like they are going to end up taking a QB.  Doesn't it?  I've gone through the scenarios and applied my experience with their thinking, and this is the most likely conclusion.

The good news is the Eagles are likely to be very bad this season, and will compete for a top pick in next year's draft.  With similar injury luck to recent years, they could contend for the top pick.  I wish they would not go QB this year, and maybe they won't, but if the new offensive staff really likes any one of the guys, you know Lowie will grease the skids for that pick.

I can't see any scenario where Carson is back.  Brutal turn of events, but if Carson is back it means they didn't even have a moderately reasonable offer for him and chose to roll the dice.  Would do further damage to the team, something a new coaching staff certainly does not need.

What a complete mess.... it's amazing that they got to this point.

If Sewell is off the board I hope we can trade down.  If Sewell is gone and they don't trade I would prefer one of Surtain, Pitts, Parsons, Farley.  If Sewell isn't there and they don't trade back I think, unfortunately, it is one of those drafts where the pick is a bit forced.

A poor mans dollar tree Lamar Jackson is equivalent to picking up a QB out of the lost and found box at the local YMCA

First of all, they’re not letting Wentz pick his trade destination, dude.  JFC

Get yo Justin Fields jerseys on preorder! Shocker would be so excited right now. Miss him ❤️

It's not about letting him pick....The Bears do not want Carson if Carson is already coming in with that attitude

I like how assuming Wentz wants out of here so badly is so last season that we moved on to the new spring fashion choice of assuming he doesn’t want to be in Chicago

The turn on Wentz? Not sure what you mean? You mean not like the unbelievable amount of support he gets from fans now?

They don't have to. If the Bears get word from Wentz's people that he doesn't want to go there, that trade isn't happening. If Wentz wants to be a petulant child and force his way to Indy he can certainly try to do that. If that happens and I'm the Eagles and the Colts low ball them as a result I would bring Wentz back and let him waste a prime year of his career carrying a clipboard and getting water for Hurts.

Speaking of petulant children

There's a few of them.

Eventually Wentz will be gone and they'll either slowly slither back under their rock or they'll come up with another dumb catchphrase and latch on to another player.

Eh I see what you’re saying but they already made it abundantly clear that they want to get rid of him. Either trade him or bring him back and say they’re all in for him as their starter in 2021.

Speaking of people who would love to sniff Carson's toilet seat.

Oh they'll be spitting their venom at Hurts by mid-season.

Take that to the bank.

Yup, it will be on to the next person (probably quarterback) to hate.  What's funny is they act like they are all about what's best for the Eagles then they make a statement about bringing him back just to carry a clip board to teach him a lesson.
