RG3 = Haskins = Fields

Same build, same makeup same hype

I am not sure how any of these 3 are that alike aside from their race and that 2 of them played at OSU.  RG3 was an elite runner.  He was closer to Vick or Lamar Jackson in terms of speed than McNabb.  He also had a much better arm than either Haskins or Fields.  Haskins never struck me as a particularly athletic QB prospect.  He is a slower runner than most QBs.  I think his 40 time was over 5 seconds.  He's not that big and his arm isn't that strong. He just played QB on an elite college team that won.  He never seemed like an elite prospect.  Justin Fields is much more athletic than Haskins.  It's not even close.  He ran a 4.5 40.  He's probably closer to Russell Wilson in terms of characteristics.  I think the concern is his arm strength.  I think Fields is a good prospect and probably has more potential than Hurts.

I think saying Hurts sucked is a little over the top. For a rookie's standards I don't think he was bad. Was he great? No, but it still did some impressive stuff.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

The "trust me guys, Fields is gonna suck" narrative is reminding me of the "Justin Jefferson is just a slot receiver" BS from last year. And I'm not even that high on Fields.

Not as a rookie, he didn't.

If they draft a QB at 6 and Wentz is gone and Hurts still here. Hurts will start this year while the youngun studies film

This makes sense on the surface, but isn't very practical. What do you do if Hurts plays like a top 15-20 QB at 23 years old and the team rallies around him? You might say trade him and get the pick. For some, it's easy to write off Hurts's intangibles because he doesn't have a rocket launcher and isn't a refined passer. But his leadership qualities really do matter and if he plays like a legit starter and you sit him or trade him in order to anoint a 1st round golden boy, you risk a locker room s*** show. It's just not worth it.

Eh, of the Eagles draft a QB at #6 or move up for one then I see Hurts getting flipped for a 3rd or 4th during the draft. Maybe they keep him but that could once again make things complicated in that locker room.

Could happen.  But the likelihood of wentz being here and hurtz not are super slim from my perspective

Stafford is roughly worth a 1st and a 3rd.

The second #1 was to take the awful Goff contract.

So the deal was for 2 future picks and one 3rd round pick.  Goff's contract isn't that bad after this season.  They could trade him and save money with no dead cap.  If he works out as a player it was a good deal.

This is the kind of crap that irritates me the most. Guys like you have no idea about any of this BS but you act like it's all fact.

Wentz forced Foles out by bullying him until Foles declined his option with the Eagles to be a free agent and go somewhere else to get his first and only mega deal and be the franchise QB. C'mon man.

Do you have any proof to these claims?  You know Foles wasn’t traded or "removed” right?  You know he signed a big FA deal with another team.  Right?  Or does that not fit your narrative.

It just makes too much sense that Wentz asked for Press to be elevated and then when Doug said "Ok, i'll make him OC" then Wentz demanded Doug be fired.

Why do you see Fields with such a low ceiling? He has the athletic ability and a rocket arm to go with it.

also i never said he had a low ceiling I said not as high as Wilson and Lance. I think those two have way more to go develop to get to their ceiling, but i do think they have way more risk involved hence lower floor.

I really question his decision making at times. I think he got away with a lot more cause of the team he played around him at times and being a better athlete then the players he was playing against to make up for that. Also his arm he would try to make up for it cause he knew the competition couldn’t really do anything cause of the talent disadvantage along with his arm. I think like a lot of young QBs coming into the league he needs to get better at going away from his first read. He was better this year then last but i still didn’t think it was great but again young prospects tend to have this issue. I also think like wentz he needs to improve his pocket awareness. I think playing behind that line and his athleticism allows him to keep plays alive against the competition he was facing. In the nfl i think he will have to adjust that otherwise he’ll take some shots like the did during the playoff. I also don’t know if fields playing at ohio state how high his ceiling is. I tend to think he is good but he also has studs everywhere on the field so i expect him to look good. Lastly and not as important I don’t like the fact Ohio state QBs never work out. Legitimately tyrelle pryor was the best career a QB Ohio state prospect in the league in 25 years and he played WR

It is not that i hate fields. I just don’t think he’s a prospect that i absolutely love to take him. I wouldn’t say we’re doomed if they did. i think Wilson has a better arm then fields even though fields is great. I think Wilson has an elite arm talent. I also think Wilson has good athleticism whereas fields has better athleticism than Wilson. Yahoo had a great article comparing the two i posted a couple weeks back.

As for Lance i think he’s the biggest boom or bust QB prospect. To me i think he has the highest ceiling cause of his athleticism, arm and coming out of that offense. However i think he needs way more development to reach that ceiling. To me he reminds me of josh allen when he came out (not in terms of talent) in the sense he has the largest gap from potential ceiling to potential floor.

If we are being honest i wouldn’t take any of the 3. I’d roll with hurts for a year and build up my team see what i have in hurts

This suggests they had significant doubts about Wentz last year. If that was the case, they should have taken their medicine and traded him then.

I don’t know why the blog is against him so much. He’s got major talent. I would take him no problem at 6.

I think it’s cause he’s from Ohio St. Blog is very much against OU I don’t blame them I hate OU to but if a guy can play he can play and Justin Fields is Russel Wilson with size and rocket arm.

The old they wanted a plan B and not to be left with nothing if wentz didn’t work out and thought hurts could be Wilson if things didn’t go well with wentz.... who could’ve seen that scenario :angel

Besides Howie this is all Clayton Thorsons fault.

If Howie hits on 25% of his picks.  Then we can potentially get 1/8th of an additional player by trading down.  Done and Done!

lol so sad we have to factor in our GM blowing most of the picks. If they trade back and get a stud OL I'd be fine with it. Need to nail the 2nd round picks though.

The Eagles are being run by two geeks who want to show the NFL world they can outdo the "meatheads" doing it their way.

I've really soured on Frank as of late.  I enjoy his 10 observations after the game and lots of his random stats but he will jump on and off a bandwagon while writing articles about it quicker than anyone out there.

I remember he wrote an article after the Cardinals game saying that Jarrett had all the tools to be the #2 CB next season because he didn't back down from Hopkins.   Now he rags on him for being another PS player that was called in to action and shouldn't be on the team next year.

Stats like the ones he shares are fun but I never take any of them very seriously in judging how good a player is.

I’m not against OSU but most if not all QBs have failed to reach their potential out of the school. That’s like when people bash the pac 12. It sticks with you cause of recent success/lack of success

i don’t hate fields. Frankly i don’t love any of these QBs enough to take at 6. I think people talk themselves into QB cause they don’t like hurts or his ceiling in their mind isn’t great and want a new toy. I’d build the team up then go get my QB next year depending on what hurts does

that said if you asked me who had the highest ceiling i think it’s Wilson. I think that’s why you likely see him taken before fields in this draft and rumors that have come out. I think Lance probably the most raw out of the three but he has a great arm and athleticism. I think he has a high ceiling cause he’s about to get all the advantages that Wilson and fields got in college at major programs in terms of coaching and talent he’s going to play with (byu facilities, coaching and talent is a step up from NDSU even if NDSU is a power house in their division). he’s also stepping up in terms of competition which is why i think he has the lowest floor of the 3 and he hasn’t had a significant amount of starts

I generally agree. He's good for stats, but opinions not so much. I remember a year ago today he would rip anyone who dared criticize Howie, only to now have completely turned on him.

When it is obvious Howie's issues had been lingering for a while, 2020 was just the capper.

The QB decision will be Sirianni's to make, not Howie or Lurie. You don't bring in an OC with a history of working with different QBs, and a QB coach with a history of coaching up QBs, then tell them which QB they have to live with - so if Sirianni thinks Hurts has the potential to be a top ten QB, they won't tell us, they'll just not draft a QB early.  If Sirianni felt it was worth keeping Wentz, he'd have sat down with him, hashed out any issues and made it work.

The reason Hurts might appeal to Sirianni is a combination of intangibles (leadership, work ethic), athleticism, 4.59 40 at 225 lbs and great elusiveness as a runner, a good but not great arm that could be improved. Given the offense Sirianni is bringing from Indy, having a gun is probably the least important attribute for a QB. I could care less what people on this board think of Hurts, I figure the new HC's expertise is QBs and WRs, and you have to trust him (or you hired the wrong guy). Now if Trask is available in the 3rd rd we'll find out how much Johnson really thinks of his college QB.

People put too much stake in rumors in pro sports, there's more misinformation out there than in Putin's Russia or a Q'anon string.
