I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Wentz forced Foles out by bullying him until Foles declined his option with the Eagles to be a free agent and go somewhere else to get his first and only mega deal and be the franchise QB. C'mon man.

Just ridiculous

Breer thinks it happens this week, though people said it would happen two weeks ago too...

Sounds like indy is bidding against themselves , not good for expected return.

I have been saying this , Wilson all day long over the rest.....I do like Davis Mills later in draft

There are *multiple* NFL teams that have Zach Wilson above Trevor Lawrence. Mahomes and Kyler comparisons made

How does Mahomes and Kyler get into the same category? Kyler may end up being a good QB(I wasn't impressed) but he's not even on the same level as Mahomes

Arm talent,  Wilson has a cannon  , mobility,  off platform throws.

Not sure where murray comparison comes from

How does one watch a highlight film where a QB never misses a pass and come back unimpressed  ?  This was pretty impressive as far as his speed goes

If the most impressive play from a quarterback highlight video where they don't show incompletions is him blocking downfield then you've just proved my point.

Another example of Howie not being able to evaluate talent.

This is why I keep saying Howie will get Lawrence. Lawrence is not that dude most of TATE thinks he is.  Not sure he really goes 1st.

This doesn't happen because of a Les Bowen article....

Then again, I won't believe this ordeal is close to being over until it is confirmed...

No matter what, we need more players around the QB. So if Hurts busts (very possible), our next QB will have support.

People have to stop fretting about Howie, far from thinking he's the smartest guy in the room, Howie has always brought in "football guys" like Douglas and Weidl b/c he knows he's not the most knowledgeable football guy in the room. The key is having the right guys feeding him info.

Doug only worked with two QBs as a QB coach, Vick and Foles (rookie year), and Alex Smith as an OC

Schwartz probably hasn't done much hands on coaching for a decade or longer.

Now of the assistant coaches, who has stood out after 2017 other than Stoutland (a holdover from Chip, of all people).

2018:  Groh OC, Taylor QB, Wilson DL, Flajole LB, Undlin DB. Undlin was Detroit's DC for one year, then fired. Wilson is DL coach for U Colorado.

On the new staff, Sirianni has hands on experience as both a QB and WR coach, as OC (Luck, Brisset, Rivers), Steichen QB coach 2016-19 (Rivers), OC (Hebert). Johnson as QB coach worked with Trask and Prescott, he's coached QBs at Utah, Mississippi and Florida. Michael, the TE coach, was QB coach on the Titans 2016-17 (Mariota), and OC 2014-15. That's more hands on QB coaching than any Eagle staff. Michael coached Gates, Delanie Walker, Sales-Jones, and Alie-Cox at TE.

Additionally, Reich, Sirianni, and former QB coach Marcus Brady who is now the Colts offensive coordinator would sit in on weekly protection meetings and were deeply involved in planning the pass protections for the week. This included the quarterbacks, running backs, and the offensive line all meeting together, and that process is likely one that Sirianni will continue, and is a large part of why the Colts have been so good in pass protection over the past 3 seasons.

Rocker was DL coach for Tenn 2011-13, U Georgia 2014-16, U Tenn 2017-19, South Carolina 2020.

Dennard Wilson was DB coach for the Jets from 2017-20, Rams 2015-16, and was a pro scout for four years.

Gannon has 3 years of DB coach and 3 years of college/pro scouting.

Point is this "young" staff has a lot of hands on coaching experience, and some scouting experience as well (better communication with the personnel people). The Eagles biggest issues - QB, WR, DB - and that's the strength of this staff. Stoutland is an elite OC coach, and Rocker has had success at coaching DL. So they'll have a better idea what they're looking for in prospects and UDFAs.

Given that they're focused on rebuilding, I expect the next two drafts to focus more on long-term ceiling than immediate help.

Hopefully, they've got a better medical staff, and get better judgments on player durability and recovery from injuries.

If Ronnie Perkins can fly straight , some team will be getting a steal ,first rd talent who will go much later , although I have been seeing where he could go first rd , I dont see it  , failed drug test will drop him a few rounds.

Been my belief that is who they’d go with. I think taking a QB at 6 unless they absolutely loved one would be a mistake. I just build up my team this offseason and see what hurts is next year. If he succeeds you are fine and if he fails then you look for a Qb then

My only problem with that is I think the likely scenario is Hurts wins a couple games with his legs to put them in no mans land for a QB next year. I don't think they should take a guy just for the hell of it this year though.

Would just be the latest in a long list of them.

My personal belief is unless is just awful that they are going with him for at least the next two years. Gives them two seasons in sirianni’s offense before he heads into the final season of his contract. Gives enough time to see what he is and the team should theoretically improve from 2021 to 2022 with draft picks and I’m guessing some cap in 2022 offseason. If he fails they don’t extend his contract and you draft someone else with a team that again theoretically should be more built up. Then again i don’t trust the eagles to build properly so there’s that in the equation

I believe the Eagles are in the spot where they need to build the roster back up, then grab a franchise QB.  Sell pick #6 to the highest bidder, build some talent, then hopefully will have enough draft or $ capital in 3-4 years to pounce on a QB to get them over the top.

I don't disagree with this but I really hope they don't give him a two year leash. People, namely Lowie, want to prop him up as some blue chip prospect and just hand him the job and let him be try to be the franchise QB when in reality he was a 3rd/4th round level reach who was over drafted and should be developed or earn the starting job.

I don’t disagree. Frankly i think his ceiling is a top 15-25 starter in the league and floor is backup. I don’t think that’s good enough to win. But i firmly believe the eagles truly think with development and grooming he can be their Russell Wilson. I don’t see that. But i think the reality is going to be he is going to be just good enough to make you competitive where you are stuck in purgatory.

i am not against taking a QB but i don’t see the eagles doing so unless they absolutely love one of them. Just my opinion i think the eagles would fall in love with Wilson but not going to be able to get him

The only ones who have to be sold on Hurts are Sirianni and his staff. Johnson coached Prescott so he probably has a good feel for that type of QB, and Sirianni knows what a QB needs to succeed in his system. If Siri decides that Hurt's upside is a bottom ten starter/top backup, then he'll tell Howie that and they'll look at all the QBs in the draft, if Siri and Johnson think Hurts can be as successful as Dak, well, they may decide that's as good a bet as a college QB with all the uncertainty that goes with it when you can get a top WR/TE/OT instead.

Chances are you're not picking at 6 very often. Sure, we're rebuilding, and no one would be surprised if we're picking in the top 10 again in 2022. Selecting a QB this year just comes down to how much you like the prospects. If one is there that you feel that strongly about, you pull the trigger. I think the Eagles probably have a higher opinion of Jalen Hurts than most of us do though...

I couldn’t have watched more tape on Carson Wentz in 2018 when Frank and I got back together and we were installing our offense with the Indianapolis Colts. We watched a lot of Chargers tape and we watched a lot of Philadelphia Eagles tape from 2017. And man, what an impressive player. He has so much talent. And from what I have heard from everyone, a great person. Good talent, good person it takes your game to really high levels. So excited Jalen got his snaps last year and was able to play last year and he played good football in meaningful games.

Yea, sounds like a guy whose really sold on Hurts
