71m in cap space for 2022, so there's that.

2022 is actually looking really good atm.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

They likely sign sanders as well even if most people don’t want that. If howie is here still he and the organization did it with Mccoy

Why wouldn't most people want to re-sign Sanders?  He's arguably the best weapon on offense (and has been) and he's still young.

thats a silly fan theory.

Unless Howie was the one who forced Doug to bench Wentz which we wont ever know.

Theres no reason to believe Wentz couldnt handle having a solid backup. Thats ridiculous.

If it wasn’t Howie that didn’t want Carson why was Doug Fired. Come on it’s been Howie all along. Open your eyes

Don’t want to pay a running back top money especially if the eagles are still in a rebuild and don’t think the money tied to a RB is worth it.

Did it a week ago. It's too much.

Clusterf--- season initiated a rebuild that would have happened in any case.

The most interesting thing to watch in 2021 is how Wentz and Hurts compare, given they'll be in similar offensive schemes with similar talent.

The only reason the rebuild was needed, was Howie extending aging veterans instead of looking to the future, and he got nothing out of them.  That is on Howie.

Once the Eagles strip the roster to get under the cap, Hurts will not have near the talent Wentz has.  Plus the Colts have a first round pick with no glaring needs, and 40+ million in cap space to improve their team.

Fyp

Lot's of things in football are unpredictable, how often do bad teams surprise and good teams crater?

Eagles will have a good offense in 2021, 2020 was as much about Doug, COVID and bad luck as anything else. They'll have a deep OL, more weapons on offense, and Hurts doesn't have to carry the offense, just make the basic plays - because Siri will run the ball a lot more than Doug, employ passes to RBs and TEs, and use crossing routes and other tricks to get WRs open quickly so Hurts won't hold the ball for 4 seconds then run for his life. How good? Depends on how much Hurts can develop in his second season. Indy was 17th in points and yards in 2019 with Brisset at QB. It was a dink and dunk offense, with Hilton missing 6 games, Ebron 5, Pascal was the leading WR.

The defense? Well, I think they hold onto Graham, Cox, Hargrave, Barnett? Sweat off the bench, add a low cost DL or two and they can hang in there. LB, we may see one drafted on the second day. DBs? That will be interesting, I can see most of the current players moved out b/c they aren't good fits for what Gannon wants to do, but he's also got a track record of coaching up DBs. Can't be worse than 2020 in any case. They were middle of the pack last year, 15th-20th, they may take a step back if they dump a few veterans, but a step forward if some kids emerge.

I think we'll regret it big time but I also want to see what Nick can do with whoever he wants at QB. I don't know if he wants Hurts or if he wants someone in the draft. Maybe he'll try out Hurts and then get someone in the next draft

We have all of these new coaches and I'm curious what they can do

Also F Howie and I hope he gets fired

Who is that?

Can’t wait until it’s week 15 and Carson has played 76.8% of the snaps and we’re all yelling Frank Reich on TV to do the right thing

Meh.  They have a year to figure it out.  If the team looks like it could be a contender in 2022 (after we see what they look like next season) then I'd say it's an easy call to resign him.  Plus, if they get another "bigger back" to split carries with him in 2021, good chance he might not demand "top dollar".  We'll see.

If you hadnt noticed, the team had a horrible year.

He had a bad run there for a few years in his picks against the spread, but has been solid and profitable the last couple of years.  Actually quite good this year.  Moved away from the "trend focused" handicapping and toward handicapping each game at hand based on matchups, health etc.

I find the overall football and draft analysis generally well reasoned and often spot on... also occasionally funny.

I said last year at the end of the season they needed to start a rebuild and their drafting had been bad and bad contracts and some and trades. The roster was not good then and then the moves they made we’re still not that good to get them to the point of where they wanted to go. Howie himself said they needed to do a rebuild and a pivoted because of the pandemic and the division. So he knew the elephant in the room was they needed to do a massive rebuild last offseason then just decided To completely ignore that.

The rebuild was needed because most of Chip's draft picks were gone or underperformed, the team was built off the 2012 and 2013 drafts, and the trade up for Wentz. The FAs that delivered a SB in 2017 were approaching 30 in 2019. There simply wasn't enough young talent to reload, especially when Wentz regressed and could no longer carry the team. But the rebuild essentially began in 2020:

QB: Hurts

RG: Sanders, Scott

WR: Reagor, Watkins, Hightower, Fulgham, Ward

TE:  Goedert

OL:  Dillard - Seumalo - Herbig/Juriga - Driscoll - Mailata, Toth

DL:  Barnett, Sweat

LB:  Edwards, Singleton, Bradley, Taylor

CB:  ???

S:  Wallace, Epps

Bolded are players drafted or who played major roles for the first time. A lot of PS guys don't do anything until their 2-3 seasons.

They don't need a lot of picks on offense, they have two years to cycle out Brooks and Lane. It's the defense that needs to be rebuilt.

I wonder if I can dye my Wentz jersey blue...

Due to Howies bad drafts, Super Bowl year included.

2017 - Barnett and Gerry the only players on the roster of the 8 picks

2018 - Goedert, Sweat and Mailata all we got from that draft.

2019 - Dillard is a question, got Sanders, JJAWful is a bust.  No other players still on the roster.

2020 - A lot still to be determined, but not looking good so far.
