I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

They cover all the bases lol

The more I think about it, the more bringing in Brissett makes a ton of sense. He knows the system, can help Hurts and take over if Hurts flames out. Perfect bridge QB if need be while we look to 2022 and beyond.

For the love of God, don't take a QB in the first round this year. You just took one in the 2nd round last year, FFS. I am skeptical of Hurts, but let's see what he has in a year with zero expectations anyway.

I’ve always said this they always put a spin on why it’s not their fault and shift accountability. They’ll preach it a sound like they are going to but their actions prove otherwise. From top to bottom there’s no accountability. Like you want players to be accountable yet your front office does not hold themselves accountable. It was only a matter of time until a crumbled because if you don’t have accountability up top then it follows through the rest of the organization and it deteriorates. Hence they try to pass the buck to Doug and coaches for reagor. No it’s your front office and scouts for not making it even more crystal clear what you should’ve done with that pick. It falls on your front office and instead of having themselves say you know what that’s all me. I made the mistake of drafting the wrong player. Instead they try to leak out there why it’s not their fault and spin it.  Instead of having the testicles to say I’m accountable for it, it’s my fault and I’m the one making the picks. Instead they maneuver to leak information to try to save face.

This is all wrong - Roseman always takes responsibility for the bad decisions - there's no spin to blame someone else - and always gives organizational credit for the good decisions. I don't want to speak for Iggles_Phan but I as understand his position it's that there are never any consequences for Howie and therefore no accountability - it's great that he freely admits his mistakes but at some point there needs to be consequences.

You can say whatever you want but your actions speak louder than your words. So if your actions speak to no accountability then what you say at face value means nothing. And he really doesn’t come out and say that he put it in a way where he can weasel his way out of it. And then they start having leaks come out which comes from the organization to help their cause show that it really wasn’t them. So again just because you’re up in a press conference and you pick and choose your words wisely to make it sound like you’re being accountable but you’re not that’s not taking accountability

I am fine with doing a full rebuild and tanking. That to me doesn’t bother me as much as the person who got you to the point of where you have to do a complete full tank and rebuild is the one conducting that full tank and rebuild. The guy who got you into the mess shouldn’t be the guy trying to get you out of the mess. And you can spin it too well they were gonna have to do a rebuild eventually however it didn’t have to be this dire of a rebuild

Howie did not plan on being in this position this dire that he is in today. Sam hinkie planned on being in that position they were in, making smart long term moves and doing that to get to where they wanted to go. Howie did not plan for it being this bad or this dire or trading Carson 3 years after a super bowl. howie messed up so many times with drafting, trades and contracts  that they are far worse off than what he anticipated after SB 3 years ago

Actually, Howie did plan for this to happen, they went all in after winning the SB, knowing they'd be in cap hell, because the alternative was to spend a couple seasons going 7-9 or 8-8 while the veterans age and hope you find some top players at 15-20 and 47-52. That's why they tried to keep the "gang" together, hoping to repeat the magic. He knew the day of reckoning was coming, they just hoped for a return visit before then.

Now he didn't expect Wentz to blow out his knee, nor for the team to be hit by a long string of injuries for three straight seasons, but I think the biggest issue was that Doug wasn't that good of an offensive mind, without Reich he floundered. What is also ignored is the 2017 team gave up 295 points, then 348, 354, 418, despite Howie getting Schwartz Darby, Malik, Hargrave and Slay, drafting Douglas, Jones, Wallace, Taylor, Bradley et al.

Nor it is that dire, the offense should be reset after this draft, the defense will take a couple years, we'll see if Gannon is a rising star or fool's gold.

Early 70s maybe more likely. At last late 90s the eagles were able to draft Dawkins, Thomas and trotter and some of those guys. Currently the last 5 years of drafting doesn’t look promising for the ones making those picks right now.

Fair enough but I'm trying to be optimistic.  Also the League is far different than it was in the 70s and free agency makes this a League where the roster can significantly improve from year to year.

You’re full of crap. Congrats. I don’t care what you think. Howie could have them in a ten year rebuild and you’d claim he planned it.

and no I don’t think he planned on having the worst draft percentage besides the Jets over a five-year period and regardless of what BS spin you wanna make it. And it falls on him because he made other moves that affected his drafting ability and they also tied to his poor drafting

What if Siriani came here thinking he had Wentz? And now that Wentz is going to Indy, and he has no franchise qb?

Of all the QBs that we could realistically get, I wouldn't be opposed to Trey Lance. The talent jumps off the screen. It is scary he's a one-year starter.

 Taking responsibility and accountability are 2 different things - do you expect Howie to fire himself because he misbehaved? He says publicly that he messed up and the owner says "OK" - that's on Lurie. Now, I want to move on from Roseman because he keeps messing up. But I don't have to imagine things about him to feel that way. If you want to create a straw man so it's easier for you - have at it.

Clearly, we were trying to repeat with the same core -- hence the dummy years to spread out the cap hits, bringing in vets, etc. It's just that 2017 was the perfect storm where every move worked (Alshon, Torrey, Ajayi, Blount, Foles, etc.). So then they kept re-upping older players and mortgaged future years through contract shenanigans chasing a repeat. But then 3 things happened: (i) they drafted TERRIBLY, (ii) Wentz regressed horribly and (iii) COVID hit the cap. So what was already a questionable strategy completed face planted as 2017 proved to be luck (vets staying healthy and playing way above expected value).

Basically, Howie was banking on Wentz being here, his draft picks coming through, and the cap always going up. None of that happened.

IF -- and I mean only IF -- Sirianni et all fall in love with one of these QBs then I'm all for it. Coach is going to succeed or fail based on the decisions that are made starting the day he was hired.

I never said lurie wasn’t responsible as well. Nowhere in my post do I say lurie does not have a part in this mess. I consider front office (original post) to include howie and Lurie cause I don’t think howie is doing this all himself. I consider the owner as part of the FO as he’s been involved in decision making like when he stated he wanted a franchise quarterback when Howie Roseman came back into power in 2016. And he’s been part of the decision making process to hire and fire a coach. He’s part of the front office in my opinion cause he’s very much involved

** when i talk about he i can refer to lurie and howie both doing that when speak. Cause they both do it and they pick and choose their words wisely when they do it

But hey front office clearly just means howie. And when I said it starts at the top I mean the owner of the team at the top

For all you twitter folks, #FireHowieRoseman is trending.  Keep it going.

Not to rain on parades, but Realmuto broke a thumb today.

Yeah I do not believe howie Roseman was planning on a rebuild of this magnitude. He was planning on re-tooling the roster and making a transition to the next wave. I do not think howie Roseman in his wildest dreams would’ve thought a team with a franchise quarterback making $100 million contract would be sitting at a 4-11-1 record three years after a Super Bowl and need this magnitude of rebuild.

Oh well, Wentz is gone. The compensation is ok, not the best, but not the worst that could have been had,  but if it allows the team to move on, great.  A shame that Carson wasn't strong enough to stay here and fight for his team and team mates. But so be it.

We move on

Trey Lance hasn't seen bright lights yet. He's trucking people in half his highlights and that's not sustainable at all (Yes, it will eventually catch up to Josh Allen too.). He looks to have that same "see it and zip it" habit that Wentz has at his worst. I don't have a good feeling about him at all.

And Fields? Oh my goodness, you wanna talk about inconsistency...sheesh.

To me, it's either don't draft a QB with a high pick at all, or trade up for whoever is available at 2 (as in Lawrence or Wilson) if the Jets are willing to trade out. I prefer the first option.

In others news it also found one of Carson Wentz's footballs he overthrew to Sanders from this season.
