I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Back to the Wentz compensation...

I think it’s fair to rip the franchise to shreds over how it got to this point, but considering it was at this point I think Howie did well for himself in the deal.

It sure sounds like Indy was either bidding against itself or was Wentz’s preferred location, all but eliminating other teams from jumping in head first.

I’m disappointed that we didn’t get a first this year, but in a weird way a 2022 first (if Wentz stays healthy) might be more valuable than this year’s because we’ll have more complete information at our fingertips to make a more informed decision.

I could feel better a out the picks if it didnt come with hamstringing us with the deqd cap hit...that howie created

How much of a villain will Reich and the Colts become if not only is Wentz revitalized and they become one of the top contending teams in the league but also if Sirianni turns out to be a total bust for the Eagles that Reich had sold Howie and Jeff?

Wentz went to the team he will have the best chance to revive his career and succeed.  With that in mind we should have probably got more compensation.  But whatever.   It’s done.

Time to kncock this draft out of the park.

It’s all an inside job. Siri leaves in a year to return as OC.

I don't know, it's just a mess top to bottom.  Someday I hope we hear the whole story because as of right now there's just too much he said she said about Carson demanding a trade, not wanting to go to Chicago..then having that debunked and so on.  We've heard every scenario under the sun of what went wrong but haven't actually heard a peep from Carson.  The Eagles got their franchise quarterback in 2016 and just took on the biggest dead cap hit in NFL history.  IMO, that makes the trade bad.

This is not a good day for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Unfortunately we weren’t in a position to strong arm anyone into a better deal. There clearly wasn’t a good market for a guy who struggled as badly as Wentz did last year. And there was no way in hell we were paying his $10M bonus.

While I think it’ll end up being a good deal for Indy, Wentz was absolutely done here. To get a single legit bidder to put a likely 1 on the table is a good job by Howie.

CB double dip. 2 young athletic edge rushers so we can let Barnett go and trade Graham.

A future X WR, and a slot/Z to compete with Reagor/Ward.

Playmaking TE at better value than Pitts at 6.

And a safety with the most range in the draft.

And, a QB to compete with Hurts and keep the pipeline flowing at the QB factory.

Still leaves us light at IOL but I like it. No way Stevenson is available at 228.

What?  He'll be Knighted if Wentz is revitalized and the story in here will be the Eagles should have kept him after the SB.

Listened to an interview tonight with Torrey Smith on NFL Radio.  The guy is a huge Wentz supporter.  A couple of things he said struck me:

— Pointed out that no QB in NFL history has ever signed a mega deal, and immediately had another QB drafted so high immediately afterward behind him.  Said Rodgers in GB is totally different situation, with him being in his late thirties

— said all of the innuendo regarding Wentz as a teammate never made any sense to him; when he was there Wentz was always around and accessible to everybody

— Said he spoke with Wentz within the last 1-2 days prior to the trade announcement, and he could tell a huge weight had been lifted off of Wentz.  Said he knew a trade was imminent a couple of days ago.

Howie is also lucky the Colts are in no mans land in the draft, Rivers retired and there are no other good FA’s or trade partners.

What do you think of the Houston edge rusher? Third rounder?

I don’t mind the 1st and 3rd round pick, but really feel Howie should have been able to get a young player on an entry contract included as well

It reminds me of the line from Band of Brothers: "The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse.“

Carson was already gone. I accepted that weeks ago.

And the Flyers lose to the Rangers in ot. That puts the cherry on the parfait today.

Wentz, Realmuto and Flyers OT loss.  Most disappointing is only a 3rd this draft for Wentz.

I can’t give Howie a pass on how we got to this point but he did get a decent trade for Wentz. There was no market it was Indy betting against itself. The Bears may have had an offer but I doubt it was any better than what he got.

First Carson played like crap so some of this is on him. if you play better he’s likely not being traded but they would’ve gotten better compensation

second organizationally this team has failed to build this team properly after that Super Bowl. It was poor drafting and quick fixes due to poor drafting and bad contracts. Some bad luck involved in juries and some injuries due to older players breaking down

to me he managed to pull off what he got back but then again he’s also at partial fault for the reason that they had to settle for in that and it got to that point. Again if he winds up being the player the Eagles envisioned when they drafted him this deal looks a lot worse because you should be able to get more than just what they got for that type of player. It would speak to a major issue inside the organization that they traded away quarterback that was turned out to be that for a first (potentially just a second) and third

Just like it to look a lot better if Carson doesn’t become that player and it’s just average or below average.

I think it’s way too early to either bash him on the compensation he got back or praise him.

Funny that he’s going right back to Press Taylor and Mike Groh. I guess Howie, Jeff, and the rest of us will find out soon enough if they should of been fired.

The good news is things happen in 3s so Philly sports are safe for the next few hours!

Howie got his lunch money stolen. And Boston is going in deep without Lube on us in beautiful Lake Tahoe Sunday.

Until Sunday. Then we get embarrassed on National TV.
