For next year it doesn’t matter.  Prefer not to have a backup who can win games in 2021.

I’m just saying I don’t think he could actually hold up to play so the Eagles will be scrambling to bring anyone in at that point. If we really don’t want to win games in 2021 might as well keep Dudfeld.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Probably right about that. But say the Eagles go 3-13 in 2021 or something and have cap room again in 2022. I wouldn't put it past Howie to try and go crazy in free agency if he thinks his seat is getting warmer. Which I would not do. I want to build through the draft. Add blue chip talent. Amass loads of cap room, and then supplement the missing pieces in a few years once the young talent is amassed.

Don’t forget, scrounge off other teams practice squads ... extra

Can and probably will be both.

I guess the owner and his lackey are going to tuck and hide.  Not surprised, it’s just sad.  There is no way to spin this, it is a total and complete failure largely of their own making.  I guess the strategy is to turtle up until closer to the draft, then minimize the discussion and pivot to how "amazing” Hurts was in 4 games.

That will only get them so far.  Make no mistake, these clowns will be extremely eager to change the narrative.   A first round QB will help them do that.  Even a sub optimal prospect overdrafted into a terrible team devoid of young talent.

I continue to hope that enough fans wake up, that something can get through to this owner that what he is doing is not ok and will no longer be accepted.

So you believe that their egos will allow them to do the same thing 2 years in a row at QB?

35-32-1 with ZERO playoff wins in 5 years, bad contract, coming off of being the worst starting QB in the NFL, requested a trade, and a large portion of the fan base is flipping out that they ''only'' got a 3rd round pick and 2nd that is likely to become a 1st. Absolutely insufferable fanbase.

Wentz is in the class of Matt Ryan, Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, Jimmy G, Jared Goff, etc. and that's 2018/2019 Wentz. Yet people are upset that the Eagles got a 3rd and 2nd that is likely to become a 1st for him.

Hilarious. What was Tannehills record in Miami compared to Wentz here?

But now Tannehill is in the top group. What changed???

Yeah. Insufferable fanbase, you said it.  You just don't know that youre the insufferable part

I was just complaining about Reuben Frank and how he isn't that great anymore but this is SPOT ON.

But I doubt it. We’re talking about a guy who had the 7th-highest passer rating in NFL history by a quarterback in his first four seasons. He had his ups and downs in 2018 and 2019 but nothing that hinted at what we saw this past year.

The Eagles broke Carson Wentz.

They invested a ton of draft picks in him, they gave him a record contract and then within months they took a premium draft pick that they could have used to fill a legitimate need and drafted a quarterback they didn’t need.

Franchise quarterbacks come don’t come along very often. The Eagles had one. Now they probably   ABSOLUTELY don’t, and probably wont be able to get one anytime soon, so it will be mediocre QB, after Mediocre QB hoping to catch lightning in a bottle for the second time. And they only have themselves to blame.

I agree -  but the One thing he got wrong I corrected above in Bolded

The Eagles didnt break Wentz, they broke the Eagles

Big difference that is about to be made painfully clear to everyone who watches football

The Eagles are officially an absolute dumpster fire, bottom 5 organization in the NFL until proven otherwise.

Our only hope is to build a team around Hurts and hope he turns into Dak Prescott.

If they draft a QB and retain Hurts, Lurie and Roseman will confirm that they are the 2nd most tone deaf and incompetent owner/GM combo behind the Texans.  Quite impressive considering they had the world on platter just a couple years ago.

Oh and I will not buy another Eagle's jersey until Howie is gone. They seem to be bad investments.

I told my self this as soon as the trade was reported.  Why would anyone buy a jersey, when your GM can drive away your franchise QB?  The one guy who should have had a 10+ year career here? That should have been the SAFE jersey to buy. lol  not here

I swear Howie must be a TATER, cause TATERS gotta TATE, and he definitely TATERED!

He is the TATER king!

What would be hilarious is if the Eagles now went after DAK.

The eagles need to draft a offensive weapon , someone who scares other teams , someone you need to double , currently they dont have that. It will go a long way in improving the QB position too.

If the options are trade up for QB, stay for a QB, trade down and stay for best non-QB available, I'm putting my money on trade-down.

Both Howie/Lurie talked about this in their press conferences. Trading down is also analytically the correct move.

How easy is trading down at 6 ? Surely it’s not just a push of the button

Hey dumb F, has Tannehill been significantly better than Wentz over the last two years. I didn't even have him as a top 10 QB either, that's how far your little North Dakota hero has fallen.

does nothing without a franchise QB, except fill a few seats in the stadium and gets some highlights. WIthout a franchise QB,  you have almost zero chances of ever winning a sb.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

This would be funny if it weren't possible.

At this point, I'm all for taking a QB at 6. You either have a QB or you don't and the Eagles don't have a QB right now. Not slamming Hurts here, we just don't know if he can be the guy or not. I'm leaning not, personally.

Yup, no point in delaying the inevitable. We are in a position to draft a QB and start fresh. Let's do it.

Let’s see I forget a few but...

-  Reich told the Eagles Sirianni was a good coach to sabotage them

- DP told Howie and Laurie false intel on Wentz to sabotage the organization

There were a few others but I put the details out of my brain instantly. Either way, between here and Twitter the conspiracy theories are ridiculous.

Sure do.  It's why I think Kyle Pitts makes the most sense.  He's a matchup nightmare.

They also need defensive weapons.  Who's the last player on defense that teams have had to scheme against where they say OK make sure you know where #20 is on every play.  Fletcher Cox in his prime?  Malcolm was good but I don't think teams were scared of him.  LB's ha.  DE?  BG is good but no one is shaking in their boots to have to face him.

This team lacks game changers in the worst way.

Yeah I could be proven wrong, but Hurts isn't a franchise qb. And I agree, when you dont have one, you need to go get one.

This is why Howie has failed miserably. His QB factory took a franchise qb (on the roster) and the a second rd pick last year, and turned that into NO franchise QB, a backup qb and a 3rd rd pick this year and a conditional 2 next year

That's like turning $1,000,000 in real estate into $1,000 in cash.

The Eagles clearly felt they were stuck on drafting Hurts (or AN Other rookie QB) high as it filled a need on a player they liked - we all know that the Eagles value the QB 2 highly and the cap position meant they had to draft someone as they couldn't afford a vet replacement.  They also failed on the Thorson pick the year before, so it's not hard to see why a higher draft pick was desired by the FO.

They reportedly had concerns with Carson in the 2019 season, and that was factor too in giving him competition.  But the coaching staff continued to light touch coach Wentz and with a chronic lack of leadership, things escalated to now.  It's a waste of talent for him to go to the Colts.

However, If Carson couldn't cope with not feeling wanted after the Eagles traded up for him multiple times to draft him at pick 2, and then gave him a massive contract, then he was more mentally fragile than anyone thought - me included.  That says a lot about how the Eagles prepare to draft players as they should have known this detail up front and managed him in a different way.

I guess there is no 3rd option right? It couldn't have been a coaching issue after Reich and Defillippo left?

so we are clear when i say organizational that means front office, owner, coaching. It’s the entire Philadelphia eagles. Coaching is gone but that doesn’t mean at that time organizationally from front office to coaching they did a good job find adequate replacements. So again for me organization/organizational means the entire Eagles organization from Lurie to howie to front office to coaches. I know you like to assume i only mean FO when i was alluding to the organization known as the Philadelphia eagles which encompasses the coaching, their hiring of coaches, front office/owner, roster moves and roster construction. So your third option is included in the term organization that i used. Also Front office played a role in coaches fired and hired according to reports. And they saw how Carson functioned best and what coaching got the most out of him. So poor and deteriorating of coaching can be also be somewhat attached to FO and doug
