I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I wonder how much the fallout between Ertz and the organization affected Wentz as well? Wentz/Ertz appear to be very good friends, and with the whole Hurts thing, combined with Howie's blowup with Ertz, it seems it may have factored into things. I wonder if Wentz's position to Lurie was fire Howie or trade me, and we all know Lurie chooses Howie over everybody.

He doesn't have to speak on anything that's what interviews are for. I'm sure these guys couldn't care less about every stupid rumor that is leaked by the mental midget Howie.

Mosher and caplan discussed this yesterday in their emergency podcast. They said the eagles for years now have had a problem with leaks coming from the organization and it’s not looked upon well by others around the league and need to fix it.

Honestly you could make a laundry list of leaks after people were let go from the organization to spin it in a eagles light. Just a couple off the top of my head

wentz just now

pederson and coaches wanted reagor and the eagles scouts and howie wanted jefferson. Pederson wanted hurts even thought he wasn’t allowed to control his game day roster or coaching staff hires and fires. Magically this comes out as doug is getting fired

michael Bennett was a bad teammate. And I’m not a Bennett fan whatsoever but the timing was right as he was traded. Which players and doug denied after the reports came out.

desean was in gangs right as he was traded.

maclin deal didn’t get done cause of some golf course problem as FA began

there’s more. I really thought harder. I’m pretty sure they did it to mcnabb as well after he got dealt.

I think we can safely say that this whole offseason has been reacting to developments as opposed to having a proactive plan on what they wanted to accomplish. Hell, everything since 2/4/18 has felt like an uncoordinated mess.

Yeah this is spot on. Wentz and Pederson weren’t getting along but also neither one of them trusted or really respected Howie.

Chip was the first guy to say F you Howie go to your office and manage the cap. Lurie regrettably stood by this and we all know how that turned out. I think that guilt still greatly weighs on Lurie, and he doesn’t want to make the same mistake of letting a coach dictate Howie’s role.

Either way, this all comes back to Lurie’s ineffectiveness as a leader.

I’m sure we will get some leak right as he is dealt or after he’s dealt to make him also look worse.

Can any of the Wentz haters explain why they actually hate the guy so much?

He appeared to be a franchise QB, and so they signed him to a big money deal, as teams do with franchise QBs. Things cratered and for various reasons, everything that could go wrong did go wrong in 2020. Wentz isn't blame free, and most in here labelled as "washers" certainly blame him for his share of it.

But, the guy has never been a ****, at least in public. Teammates seem to like him. He runs charities and I think we all remember that story with the kid who died in the Super Bowl year. He seems like a genuinely good human being. So why so much hate for him? Because he signed a huge contract and didn't live up to it? Where's the frothing at the mouth for Alshon, D-Jax, etc?

I'm sad the whole situation has unfolded like this. I don't think Hurts projects well, but as he's the starter now, I'll root for him to do well here. He also seems like a good human being, so I have no problem pulling for him. I just have lowered expectations. I hope he proves me wrong. But I'll never understand the outright contempt and bile that is spewed at Carson Wentz from some of these so-called "fans".

Ertz isn't a real Christian! He practices Satanism!

What's Doug going to say?  "Yeah, he didn't talk to me for 8-10 weeks but all is well."  He would look completely inept if he admitted to it.

The report could be totally false or exaggerated but if it was true, he would never admit to it.  Who would want to a hire a coach that wasn't able to get his starting QB to talk to him for an extended period?

I thought it would be he became too enamored with the women’s soccer team and his wife’s success then his own success. Probably hve a story that his wife kicked soccer balls at novacare complex windows and broke them after his dust up with howie.

Who knows what is true and what isn't.  But what do you expect Doug to say?  That was going to be his answer regardless since he wants to coach again.  Maybe if he was 75 and had coached for 30 years and was going to retire, he would be more candid.  But he would never admit to that.  Guy never tells the truth.  So and so is week to week....guy doesn't come back on the field until the following year.

Another excellent summary of the situation by McLane.

Quote

Howie Roseman wasn’t included as part of the trade that sent Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts — despite how many Eagles fans wished it were so — but never has one NFL general manager arguably been as responsible for the cause and effect of dealing a franchise quarterback.

Five years ago, Roseman surrendered five draft picks and three players — an unprecedented amount — to move up and draft Wentz at No. 2. Three years later, he signed him to a $128 million contract with $66 million guaranteed. And just 20 months after the Eagles gave him what was then the largest guarantee ever, Roseman traded the 28-year-old for two draft picks while incurring a $33.8 million dead salary-cap hit — the largest in league history.

Some will minimize the GM’s colossal failure by focusing on the return — a 2021 third-rounder and a 2022 second-rounder that could become a first-rounder — for a quarterback who had the greatest statistical regression for any under-30 starter in 70 years and so obviously wanted to leave the Eagles. They will credit him for a sunk-cost move that has the Colts on the hook for $40.5 million of the guaranteed number.

Roseman will surely rationalize the trade with both points whenever he does speak on the subject. But doing so would be akin to building a factory, burning it to the ground, and pointing to the ashes as a best-case scenario.

Roseman won’t claim any victories, though. Thursday marked a dark date in franchise history — the trade won’t become official until March 17 — and the GM isn’t blind to the role he played in Wentz’s departure. His "quarterback factory” line at the time of the Jalen Hurts draft pick last April is unlikely to be the only regret he has about that day.

He didn’t erect just one structure for his factory, though. He constructed another, a smaller-scaled one, in its shadow. And instead of helping, as was intended, the building worked against the larger factory and helped lead to its destruction.

Many questioned the drafting of Hurts. And it is fair to criticize Wentz if the rookie quarterback’s presence, in fact, affected his performance. The second-round selection was the first crack in the erosion of distrust Wentz felt toward the Eagles’ front office.

Much was made of the disintegration of Wentz’s relationship with former coach Doug Pederson. And while it factored into his reported desire for a trade after he was benched for Hurts in December, Wentz’s reasons for wanting out ran far deeper.

Even after Pederson was fired last month, the quarterback preferred to play elsewhere, sources familiar with Wentz’s thinking said. While it could be stated that he had lost trust in Roseman, a more accurate assessment, per one source, was that he had "lost faith in his decision-making.”

The same, to an extent, could be said of Wentz’s assessment of Jeffrey Lurie, whose belief in his longtime general manager remains steadfast. The Eagles’ owner, after all, was on board when Roseman made the unprecedented decision to draft Hurts — both men too wrapped up in the benefits without seeing the potential risks.

Wentz would pay them back. With the muscle his contract gave him — and that the NFL has increasingly granted quarterbacks — he engineered his exit from Philadelphia and his passageway to Indianapolis. The Chicago Bears never made a formal offer, but only because it was clear they weren’t his desired destination.

It was always Frank Reich and the Colts and few could fault Wentz for pulling those strings. But he shouldn’t come out unscathed from the whole ordeal, not because his preference might have hindered the Eagles in negotiations with other teams, but for his role in the 2020 disaster.

I'd be willing to bet it's closer to this than anything else.

I think it will take more than that actually.  For people to get on board, he's going to have to look like a QB that can win a SB.  Anything short of that and I think most people will be more than ready to move on.

And I think he's got a short timeline to look the part too.

There have been a lot, a lot, of SB-winning QBs who were not elite. Brady and Montana skew the list. Nick Foles? Jim Plunkett? Peyton and Eli Manning? Yes, Peyton was once elite but he was on the downward slide when he won his two. There were a lot of game managers who won as well. You can win if you have the better team.

If the reports of Wentz not speaking to Doug are true, because of the Eagles drafting Hurts, then that likely means Doug wanted Hurts.

Which makes the excuse that the Eagles and DP weren't on the same page moving forward even more baffling.  This organization is 100% a freaking mess.  The only person who seems to be genuine and actually good at what he does is this guy.

Not me.  I don't care what he or any other athlete does outside of their profession.  It makes absolutely no difference to me, as long as the person isn't a **** human who does really bad things.  I don't care about his religion, his views on guns/hunting, or if he has backstreet boys posters in his room.  I care what he does on the field.  When he did not even attempt to change his way of playing, when his way of playing was not working anymore, is when I cut the cord.

Funny you complain about Eagles fans and then say crap like this.

That is where you fail. I don't complain about Eagles fans. I complain about the nerds who belong to the Carson Wentz lovers FB fan page. In other words, fugazi fans, in other words troglodytes like you.

I’m guessing rob maaddi who is a AP reporter likely has other sources inside the organization he confirmed with before just putting it out there that doug told him that. Just like one guessing schefter also has multiple sources.

If people want believe everything the eagles leak out by all means. However his happens every time the eagles move on from someone they shift blame and leak stories so it deflects away from them. Legitimately mosher and caplan discussed this topic yesterday in their emergency podcast. It’s been a problem for years now dating back to the end of reid era.

Serious question, did you happen to get into paint chips often as a young child.
