I grew up a Houston Oilers fan.  I am not a Tennessee Titans fan. Hate the Adams family.  When I moved to PA, the Oilers were still "my” team.  This was before NFL ticket so I rarely got to see them play.  On local cable in the mid state we got Steelers, wasteam and the Eagles.  As an Oilers fan, I could never root for the Steelers, although I respected how the team was run.  I didn’t live in DC, MD or VA so, although the wasteam fans hated the cowpads as much as I do, Eagles were a PA team so I cheered for them. A couple years later when Bud moved the Oilers, I was done with that team.  I really couldn’t understand local fans that switched allegiances to the Ravens when Modell moved the team.  I could understand somewhat the folks down in Baltimore adopting the team but not PA residents. Especially after the midnight move of the Colts.

My dad grew up on the Eastern shore of MD.  He grew up a fan of the Colts and Johnny U.  His dad moved up to PA, and he took a passing interest in the Eagles for the same reason you did... they were local to him.  My mom was an Eagles' fan, as were my grandparents... so I fell in line with the Eagles from birth and became a bigger fan than all of them.   When the Colts left Baltimore, I heard my dad talk more about football than I ever had before (I think that was about 1983 or 1984... fresh in my mind when the rumors started swirling about the Eagles) and he was livid about the Colts move, called them cowards, etc.

I had my own mini-version of that also.  I was a big fan of the Philadelphia Stars.  They had a few ex-Eagles on the team, a few on the coaching staff and they were good (better than the Eagles were in the NFL) and they had Jim Mora as the HC.  He always seemed to be a better coach than the Eagles' head coach at the time (Marion Campbell).   They played 2 years in Philly, then they filled the void in Baltimore.   I understood that move, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was Trump's move to push the USFL to play in the Fall, head to head with the NFL.  They couldn't stay in Philly... but I disavowed them when they left.   I found out that at the end of the season, they were the champs.  Lost the first USFL championship, but won the next two.   I wondered if they would be added to the NFL, like the AFL teams and a few other teams had been over the years from other leagues... and it made sense to me as well, given the void in Baltimore, but that seemed like it was never an option.

Anyway, the point is, as a kid, I was a big Stars fan (possibly a bigger Stars fan than Eagles' fan, honestly - I even met Irv Eatman at a local mall.  I'd never met any Eagles' players)... until they left town.  And I didn't watch a single USFL game after they left.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

That’s like saying.  Well it was basically a 3rd round pick the year before.  Taylor was a bad pick in the 3rd round.  Would have been a bad pick in the 4th as well.   Stop.

Are you freaking kidding me? Admit you were wrong you egomaniac. Pick 103 is a 4th round pick more years than not. It's BASICALLY a 4th rounder in terms of value. Look something up before coming at people, sheesh.

So in high school, my Oilers were pathetic. Back to back 1-13 seasons.  But I still went to games and mapped out their drafts.  I don’t think the Eagles are quite as putrid as projected by some in here.

Let’s start in the trenches.

OL - Kelce might be traded or retire.  Need a C, even if Seumalo moves over.  Eagles were high on Juriga and made him a priority UDFA. Don’t really like Herbig there.  If Seumalo moves over, Driscoll becomes the starting LG.  Needs this offseason professional level training.  I assume Lane is here for a couple of years and probably Brooks for at least one.  At OT, Dillard a LT and Mailata at swing initially.  Eagles have a shot at several good C/OGs in the draft. I look for them to grab one and maybe a G. Day 3, I like Spencer Brown as a Mailata like athlete.  Grade 4th or 5th round.

DL - not a great draft. My guess is they keep Cox.  I think Williams has the potential to be a third DT.  Good play last year.  Quality UDFA find.  Maybe consider a player like Kobie Whiteside or Bobby Brown day three.  Suspect Graham is gone.  Look for a Barnett extension.  Sweat is probably going to need help.  I liked, I think it was HE’s mock of Koonce.  Also consider Elerson Smith. Watching him is what drew me to Spencer Brown. Their conference didn’t play last fall so they may slip a bit. DL is a two draft project.

As uninspired as I am at the prospect of watching Jalen Hurts lead the team for the next two years, I think the Eagles need to build the roster talent first, then go get the franchise QB afterwards.  Drafting one of these guys this season would be the best way to ruin their development and create another revolving door at the position.

After seeing last year’s draft I have no idea what direction they’ll actually choose to go.

I was a fan of the Oilers too. Bum Phillips, Earl Campbell, Curly Culp, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, Dan Pastorini, Warren Moon, Bruce Matthews. Really fun to watch.

Not really anything to do with egos.  If you're the superior talent and confident in your abilities then you shouldn't worry about a backup taking your job.  At least good QBs don't.

Look how favre reacted to rodgers...and Rodgers to love

and brady to jimmy g

its all of them

Same thing with my Houston Gamblers. Our QB was Jim Kelly.  Jack Pardee was the coach and played Mouse Davis’ Run ‘n Shoot offense. Great two years then the team was bought and merged with the NJ Generals (Trump’s team). I hated the Generals with a passion and was glad Kelly never played for them. Tickets were cheap and even cheaper on game day. Unlike the Oilers, they weren’t real strict about where you sat.

Excitement level for the upcoming season is the lowest it has been for me since the mid 90s.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the line.  Herbig lopks like a #7-8.  Driscoll looks like #6 which is very important.   Brooks and Johnson are at the end of their careers.  But this is the fun of discussion.   I want better offensive skill players but I believe a great line makes every body better, great skill players don't make the line better.  Build in/out.  We have a chance to do it now.  I hope we do.  If Sewell is available at 6 and we don't take him then I will cry bitterly in my soup.  If he isn't a.d we take Chase or Surtain or Pitts I won't ****.

I agree with you but I think chances are slim that Sewell will be there. If you stay at 6 you are taking a QB but more likely Chase or Pitts. I don’t know how hard it is to trade back but in doing so in a supposed OL strong draft you should be able to pick up 2 of the 3 needed replacements because I think we don’t have Kelce’s replacement at this time. ARI and MIA look real good for this both should be in the market for 1 of Chase, Pitts or Smith

So chip Kelly wanted him gone. howie and lurie were like that’s fine. They decided they’d just cut him without trying to get draft capital for a guy coming off the season he did. Leaked gang relations as they booted him. clearly just chip Kelly. Meanwhile desean at 32 years old breaking down physically managed to get at least a 6th rounder. But 27 year old desean on a pro bowl and career season howie and the eagles couldn’t get anything for him.

wait also forgot report leaked that Andy nearly cut desean after they released DeSean. But chip clearly knew this and leaked it

howie had some power in 2013 and 2014 regardless of what you want to believe. just blame everything on chip in 2013 and 2014 that went wrong is ridiculous just like it’s ridiculous to just apply all credit for what went right is on howie.

Having an MVP like season but warriors are pretty irrelevant. Kind of feels like Klay comes back they have a chance to be relevant but his body might just be breaking down from all the deep runs added onto regular seasons.

Add Joe Buck to the Punch in the face club. Did anyone say Bruce Arians ?
