I knew that all was likely to happen when bringing him back

It was an emotional signing

I also remember people in here wanting to bring McCoy back as well lol

For sure. I'd rather have spent the 6th round pick we gave up for him on a young speedster WR, like the one the Bucs got with our pick (Scotty MIller). I wanted nothing to do with McCoy either. He gave us great years but was clearly cooked. Good on him for getting two rings without having to do much though.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Maybe he plans on playing a 4-3 under set.

Whatever it is, it needs to be in a scheme that is attacking and allows him to play straight line.

Maybe Avery can cut a little weight and add some agility to be not atrocious in coverage.

Gotta feel bad for Desean, missing out on a superbowl by just a few years with the Eagles then the Bucs.

He's the anti McCoy. Has two rings without even playing.

Agree. Getting a 2020 3rd and a 2021 (likely) 1st for a guy who was terrible in 2020 and clearly wanted out was a solid job by Roseman. If the initial offer was 2 2nds, I like getting the 3rd this year and the conditional 1st next year (as an aside, had the initial reporting been a conditional 1st instead of a conditional 2nd might have influenced reactions, so makes me think Schefter's sources were in Indy). Anyone complaining that we didn't get more, given the situation, is delusional. Think of it this way -- Stafford, who played better and has a much better/friendlier contract (2 years, $43mm with no guarantees vs. 4 years, $98.4mm of which $40.4mm is gteed for Carson on 3rd day of year (full 2021 and $15mm of 2022)). So 2 years of Stafford for $43mm, but full flexibility, or 2 years of Carson for $47.4mm with most of it guaranteed. Stafford got the Lions a 2021 3rd, a 2022 1st and a 2023 1st, but the Lions had to take back Goff's brutal contract with $43mm of remaining guarantees over the next 2 years. So...if that 2023 1st was for taking Goff, then we basically got the same deal for Wentz that the Lions got for Stafford by not taking back a brutal contract.

The problem is how we got to this place -- getting put in a corner where we had to trade him in the first place. Drafting Hurts was remarkably dumb -- we knew Wentz bristled at the Foles stuff, and once Nick is gone we draft a QB in the second round. If you think Wentz should be tougher, well, you knew he wasn't and gave him that contract. If you weren't sold, exercise the 5th year option for 2020 and draft Hurts. But signing him to a massive deal and then bringing in a 2nd round QB for a guy you know won't handle it well? Idiocy.

Then, you hire a new coach and don't get Wentz on board with it? That was legitimate insanity. The dead money is basically the same as having him on the roster, so it was a free option to keep him for 2021 and see if the new staff can fix him. How do you not sell him on that idea, and instead trade him for no savings? We all heard that they were looking for a coach to work with Carson, and then this? You have a guy who has shown a massive ceiling -- if you are spending the cap space anyway, take the year to see if he is fixable.

So, saying Roseman did a good job with the trade is a akin to congratulating your kids for mowing the lawn...after they burned the house down.

They saved $10 mil

I’m sure they tried to sell him on resurrecting his career and even hired Frank Reich Lite but he may have not been taking calls. So much for professional courtesy

So an athlete who dislikes competition and obviously not a team first guy considering what would happen if we were in the thick of things , Wentz has another season ending injury and Sudfeld is the bar.

On a side note I was feeling like the Eagles had been taken to the woodshed but now feel a little better, he only cost the Eagles $56.4 mil for and they got 1 decent year and 1 crap one. Unfortunately most of that paid money will be hitting the cap this year

You say tomato

EI has been a management thing for years

Taking out the 2 scoring drives, and 2 end of game drives that meant nothing, here is Hurts second half play charts.  Not good.

I am not a hurts humper but taking out the scoring drives doesnt seem like a fair way to analyze the data

Honestly, at this point, we really can't make any assumptions, no matter how logical. If Doug wanted Hurts, and we are moving forward with Hurts, then why isn't Doug still here? We need to assume they are all making this up as they go. Here's my most likely scenario, which is all a guess.

1. Doug says he wants to promote Taylor, keep Wentz, change little and run it back. Lurie decides he wants change and a coach that can work with Wentz, so they can Doug.

2. During the coaching search, they focus on guys to "fix" Wentz and end up landing on Reich's OC. So far everything makes sense.

3. BUT...these geniuses don't get Wentz to buy in to the hire. So they spend weeks finding a coach for Wentz, and the incompetent fools never confirm that hiring Sirianni will fix the issues and make Carson want to stay.

4. Carson makes it known he wants out, regardless of the coaching change.

5. The team is forced to trade a guy who wants out, despite basing their whole coaching change around him.

If this is how it happened, it is breathtaking stupidity.

You can lead a horse to water

Desean released?

I was not a fan of the trade for him and it proved correct, and the contract extension was a stupid as it looked at the time. Hope he can stay healthy elsewhere but I don't see it. He's earned a very comfortable wage in the NFL, so it's a hard problem to have right?

So long Desean... we'll always have this somersault!

I have no idea but it seems like Howie wants to find a roster spot for him.

That was a mistake.   It was also a mistake bringing him back.   It was also a mistake activating him for the Cowboys game and taking snaps from the young WRs... but at least he helped everyone by taking himself out by being a moron and doing this somersault.

Indy ran a 4-3.  I think when he was with the Vikings they had a 4-3 and used some 3-4 looks.
