I am not a hurts humper but taking out the scoring drives doesnt seem like a fair way to analyze the data

I only count Wentz's good plays and Hurts' bad plays in order to be objective.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

So long Desean... we'll always have this somersault!

Didn't he get hurt after that?

Indy runs a 4-3, with cover 2 concepts

Avery wouldn't have to cover man, but he'd have to be able to backpedal in zone and close on the underneath throw.

I don't think Howie gives a fig about saving face, rather he faces the challenge of reworking the back seven to fit Gannon's version of the Indy defense.

Mills is the only CB who fits the Seattle mold (Douglas would, but he's gone), and Gannon will have to determine if Epps can play FS in his scheme.

This defense will probably struggle next year, especially the first half as they revamp the personnel.

I have no idea but it seems like Howie wants to find a roster spot for him.

That's exactly what he's doing.  Trying to save face after that terrible trade.

Taking out the 2 scoring drives, and 2 end of game drives that meant nothing, here is Hurts second half play charts.  Not good.

I see you are still clinging to this second half stuff.

Disregard that Hurts produced more yards and the team scored more points with him than with Wentz.  But hey you have this arbitrary negative stat from his rookie season so let's cling to that forever.

Actually, the defense should be so much better since the DC was mailing it in last year, right?

That's just as meaningless as those cherry pick stats. You can't read anything into Hurt's performance last year, other than he got some experience with NFL speed.

We'll find out if he can play in 2021.

He'll be talking about these 2nd half stats until Hurts makes a pro-bowl.

What about Feliepe Franks? His name gives him bonus points

I expect it may be in the second half of the season, the first half will be ugly as inexperienced players try to pick up a new system.

But hopefully no more of those marshmallow soft zones with CBs playing 10 yards off the receiver.

I expect Gannon to dumb it down in 2021, then add more concepts in 2022.

Still may be better than Davion Taylor.  I think the problem is that there are several decent LB prospects in this draft that will be available when the Eagles pick.  I am sure this just means they will take LB off of their draft board since they have the position locked up now with Avery.

You got one thing right.  My ego.  Either way.  It’s a 3rd round pick!   I don’t give a ish what it would have been in years past, this year or next.  It’s a 3rd round reach....bust....Howie special.  There’s nothing to "look up”.  And it would have easily been the worst pick for the Eagles in 2020 if not for Howie drafting Hurts and setting this whole debacle in motion.  The guy missed on the top 3 picks. Davion Taylor was drafted to be a LB.  On a team who started NATE GERRY!!!   And he couldn’t get on the field!!!!   He sucks!   And so does Howie.  Take a knee.  Sheesh.

I'm not disagreeing with you on anything but the pick. Each round is 32 picks - anything after pick 96 is something other than a 3rd round pick and I don't care what the NFL calls it due to compensatories.

Of course it is. By taking out the good things it becomes a fact that he was bad.

Why? Dominoes - I see that as one of the first that led to a Super Bowl. I'm thankful everyday now that Chip was such an idiot.

Love this draft.  I still would rather trade back with our 1st round pick to pick up and extra 2nd and/or 3rd.  There seems to be lot of obvious talent at 38, and I really want that pick (Wyatt Davis for example).  Although, Howie wouldn't recognize obvious talent if it fell out of the sky, landed on his face, and started to wiggle.

As I recall there were very few entrants  😂

I’ve seen televised open hand slap contests; one between 2 women was memorable.  Some of the prison ones are entertaining — it’s not like they have full schedules to interfere with practice time:

Second half play is important in the NFL.  The other 31 teams don't quit at halftime.

What this stat shows is NFL defensive coordinators can shut down 1 read and run QB's.  The more film they get on him, they will shut him down before the half.

Didn't like the trade back options I got at 6, and I traded back from 38 to 51 and picked up 82 when Wyatt Davis was drafted one pick before the Eagles.

I also think it's foolish to think Hurts made this team significantly better.  He looked like a rookie QB that is a better runner than passer.  He had an abysmal completion percentage.  He often was too quick to rely on his legs.  He has significant work to do in order to be a competent QB. It's unclear that he can be anything other than what he showed. What he showed wasn't enough to make this team anything other than a bad to mediocre football team.  Carson played terribly in 2020 but there were 4 other seasons where he played much better than Hurts did.  In Carson's first 4 games as a starter, he threw for over a 1,000 yards, 7 TD's, 1 INT and had a completion percentage of over 67%.  Let's see Hurts approach Carson's numbers as a passer before we declare him the better option.  He's unproven and did nothing last season to prove he has more potential than Wentz.

He was a rookie with no exhibition games, a truncated offseason, no time practicing with the 1s.

We have no idea if Doug made any adjustments at halftime.

So to read anything into those four games is a stretch.

Well shut, imagine how much better he will be as he continues to develop and improves his second half play when he was already out producing Wentz via only first halves.

Your Hurts hate is getting pathetic. Wait and see what he does in his second season before you try to act like the book is written on him.

It's February, Don't even know when they'll be able to have mini-camps.

It's more a statement that Gannon has looked at film and decided Avery has no future at DE, so try him at LB before you cut him or trade him for a 7th rd pick.

Why do you keep bringing up Wentz.  I am talking about the Eagles and their players.

You are like the cult of Foles crowd talking about players who are not here.

And I do not see Hurts being any better than what we have seen.  One read and run does not work in the NFL.
