At least our new d-coordinator is trying something different since the guy is practically a bust and I'm sure he know it.

I’ve said since the trade he should play linebacker.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

When Hurts was drafted Wentz was pissed. The Philly Voice stories. The reports that Wentz stopped talking to Doug. Not liking the hard coaching from Flip. Reluctance to accept responsibility for his poor play.

So let me rephrase, is there one single thing that you can point to (other than anonymously sourced stories) that display his mental fragility? If, as you said, Wentz showed us a lot of mental fragility, there has to be at least one instance. I'll even take a quote from a player or person within the organization.

Sure, there is a mental component to that.

Look, I’m not saying Wentz has no mental toughness whatsoever, but he showed a lot of mental fragility during his time here too.

As far as physical toughness, I certainly wouldn’t question that.

I don’t think wentz is perfect whatsoever. He has his warts and flaws. I think he lacked accepting coaching and it showed in his mechanics being inconsistent. I also think he has some entitlement issues based off reports that came out over the past couple years. (Fairness i think a lot of starting QBs have entitlement issues we just don’t get leaked stories like the eagles do)

Imo i would say he and the eagles handled things poorly with the hurts situation. JMO i firmly believe he was pissed off in April (eagles covered that up in their presser about Hurts pick), wanted out back then, tried to play it out and then a snowball of a couple bad games early then became an avalanche. At that point he saw the point of no return in philly. However i also don’t think the eagles did a very good job either over the years to get to this point in time

To me this is a complete organizational failure from lurie, roseman, doug, coaches and wentz. The fact is it falls on all of them for allowing it to get to this point. I would’ve blown the whole thing up got rid of all three if i were lurie if all these reports were true (and I’m guessing lurie knows what is and isn’t true) and them leaking out.

Reality is so much more mundane. Howie gambled on a talented young QB, at first it looked brilliant, then a knee injury took away some of his mobility, then a decline in team talent exposed some of his flaws, then a clusterf--- season led him to seek a new start. Drafting Wentz wasn't a mistake, extending him after the 2018 season, when he was still playing at a high level at 25 years old wasn't a mistake (look at 2nd contracts for starting QBs, it was the market value). QBs have made it work with less than ideal talent, Wentz did at the end of 2019. It was Doug who tried to force a big play offense on his QB when the OL was imploding. Doug needed to win now, and a ball control scheme, while it would have protected Wentz, would have been a dead end given a defense allowing 26 points per game. But Wentz also handled it badly, making bad decisions, showing a lack of poise under pressure.

It's best to move on, sometimes crap happens, good moves go bad, ignore sunk costs and make the best of a bad situation. The rebuild was inevitable, now it's a done deal. WEntz, DeSean, Jeffrey, Malik, Ertz are headed out the door, McLeod, Slay may follow, Graham, Cox, Lane and Brooks may be the only veterans on the 2022 team if Kelce retires.

A well executed ball control scheme can protect a struggling defense too.

Maybe.  And they could likely trade down 6-7 spots and still get him.

No kidding.  Everyone trashes this "wasted pick” like the guy isn’t still on the roster.

Get these guys on the field.  Get Avery out there, get K’Von out there, get Dillard out there.  Do what the former coaching staff refused to do — kick the guys who can’t play (Mills, Jeffery, Gerry) to the damn curb, and see what they have in these draft picks.

The stories have been reported. If you don’t want to believe them so be it.

Reality is Howie failed to do his job effectively.  Howie then proceeds to throw everyone else he can find under the bus.   That's the reality of 'modern America'... no one wants to take responsibility for their own failures, but have to try to scapegoat someone else.

Spare me.

"Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.”

Howie is great at telling Lurie who the orphan is.

Lol man some of you really don’t like Wentz. Well he’s not here anymore so I guess you can quit with the ****ing about him and move onto something else to talk about.

When a player or someone from the organization went to the media to trash Wentz, what do you think their intentions were? Seriously, what do you think they were hoping to gain? If they were truly altruistic, they would have went to Wentz privately with the hope that he changed his supposed ways. The fact that they even went to the media and anonymously bashed him is all the proof you need that these sources had an agenda. So you're willing to trust people with an obvious agenda, even when the people who are willing to put their names out there disputed it?

Yes, I believe those reports have a lot of validity. That doesn’t mean I believe everything I read, but considering how things played out it’s fairly obvious he had some issues here.

Im a Wentz fan and wish him great success in Indy. With that being said, he's a mental midget. That Hurts pick really messed him up.  But I don't think that was the back breaker.

That concussion at the end of 2019 was.  Reports came out that him and his wife talked about him retiring.  Then he comes back only to be mauled to death being sacked 75379 times in 12 games. Dude was playing scared and with good reason.  Bad concussion followed by horrendous oline play and bad play calling.  Recipe for disaster.

Good luck in Indy..

Of course players arent going to attach their names to negative quotes about a player.  Not many do unless their name is T.O.

I don't know how accurate these reports are but there's been several.  In fact too many to just sweep it under the rug.  Maybe the locker room is split 50-50 as far as Wentz.

I'd be curious to know what the specific moment was with Wentz that caused them to have one foot out the door with him. It obviously wasn't before June 2019 when they gave him his deal. It couldn't have been during the regular season when he took a practice squad team to the playoffs. So I'm assuming it was when he got knocked out of the Seattle playoff game. Which is a stupid reason if it is because it was a freak incident/cheap shot after he had completed a full 16 game season. I never bought the lip service about them drafting Hurts to be a complement/Taysom Hill piece added to the offense. They obviously drafted him to be their next starter with what transpired.

Oh there were clearly issues. That we can at least all agree on. However, I'm reluctant to disparage Wentz's mental toughness when the only indications of that come from anonymous sources that have a clear agenda.

I’d say it goes back farther than that. It was the ACL tear that started this mess. Both physically and mentally.
