Eagles need to build the rest of the team before they worry about using another high pick on a QB , you can have brady or Mahomes back there and they can't carry the current team.

Get the rest of the team in place , then find a QB , beit a draft pick or a vet , maybe hits works out.

Eh... I see what you’re saying but if you see a QB that you like as a franchise guy, you take him. There’s no saying what the future may hold.

Although it does seem teams like the Bucs, Chiefs, 17 Eagles, Broncos, and Seahawks all had a ton of talent in place when they got their QB and won.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Sirianni was a coach at IUP from 2006-2008. I was there in 2010 for grad school and worked as a student assistant at football games. I never heard of him until he was named a candidate for the Eagles HC job.

There was no way he wasn’t taking the Eagles HC job... no need put a "reasoning” behind it.

I suspect multiple coaches that were interviewed would have taken the job.  But now we know the bar is set: if Eaglephan1986 hasn't heard of a coach the coach only cares about money and would take any job offered.  Same with Reid and Rhodes I'd suspect.  Did you know of McVay before his hire?  Probably not, especially since you didnt have an overlap year with them at IUP 11 years ago

If you see a franchise guy available, you take him without hesitation. Passing on him to take a defensive end (or any other position) because the rest of the team stinks is bad business.

Interesting post, but Chip only regressed for 2 straight.  2013 was improvement.  That was a unique circumstance though.

I guess it should have been two straight years. The 2010 team was better than 2009 despite the record. IMO anyway

We shall see.  I'm interested to see how the draft shakes out.

I agree but the trend is interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Smith goes a lot later than people are expecting. It's hard to justify a top 10 pick on a WR that's probably under 170 lbs.

Hey, we can agree on something 😎

All it takes is letting people know your brilliance.

Here will be Sirianni's draft involvement. Howie "Hey Nick are you there?, we're drafting this guy and this is where we want him on the depth chart." Sirianni, "Thanks Howie for the call, Howie are you there? Howie?".

Trevor is the only franchise QB in this draft. Lance will be Lamar Jackson 2.0 which you can not win SBs with that type of player. Fields and Wilson are ok players but nothing special throws them off the charts. So unless we are moving up and giving the world for Trevor its not smart to draft a QB in this draft when you have an entire team of needs.

On the 2nd thoughts, I posted the same thing. Build the team first then get your QB to maximize your time with that good team before the QB contract kills it. You will be able to add the Colts to that list as well of teams that build up a team first then landed a Qb to drive them to the top.

You know how many so called franchise QBs have been drafted top 10 and won a super bowl  ?

Teams thought they saw a franchise QB, truth be told they dont know if he will be one , they hope he will , odds are against them. Chances are real good they will be drafting a new QB a few years later

For the record, I wanted Wentz back, so I’m not some Wentz hater.

This is what I don't understand about some of the "die hard" Wentz defenders.  Most (including myself) would have been fine with keeping Wentz and seeing how things worked out between him and the new coaching staff and (possibly) an "open competition" in camp between him and Hurts.  But for most "Wentz defenders" any sort of criticism of Wentz' play or even the thought of having an "open competition" between him and Hurts was considered "Wentz bashing".    And even if someone told them that he didn't want to be here, they still refused to believe it.   It truly became "cultish" with some of the "die hard" Wentz defenders, imo.   And now, those same "die hard" Wentz defenders are doing everything in their power to bash Hurts.  It's as if they blame Hurts for Wentz' fall in Philadelphia.

If there are rumors about Lance being the pick already,  that pretty much guarantees hes not.

We don't know what the Eagles are doing in the draft ever, especially not this early. Usually what we DO hear,  doesn't end up happening.

Pretty much, he likely already knew Wentz wasn’t coming back, plus maybe they promised him a QB in the first round just like they got for Doug.  I keep seeing that this isn’t the right time to draft a QB, but was it the right time when Doug was made coach?  If Howie likes a QB in this draft and if he’s not sold on Hurts, they’ll likely draft one early.

Some people will say I told you so but so what. The plan was for Wentz to fulfill his contract and Hurts to be able to at least fill in for the next couple of years when needed. Just as long as they feel comfortable with it and not forcing the issue it should be ok. At least for 1 year they are getting a pass to stink. Next year maybe better because they’ll probably have a better draft pick

The rumors are being fueled by online mock draft guys that assume the Eagles will pick a QB since they traded Wentz.  And by those not sold on Hurts.  That's it.  None of it is coming from the Eagles, imo.

The only thing bugging me about Wentz is his desire to leave Philly despite having such an atrocious season. You’d think a real competitor would want to stay and prove the doubters wrong. But perhaps he really is a bit narcissistic like some suggest and in his mind it’s other people’s fault.

You would think

The old bait and switch: pump up the QB then trade out of the spot.  Eaglephan1986 is rubbing off on me!

Howie will want smoke out there about drafting a qb to see what offers he can get to trade down, i suspect.

He said it was God's plan for him to go to Indy.  He has no hand in it whatsoever.   God looked down upon Wentz and said "Indianapolis Colts!" and poof!  It is so.

You ain’t my type babe

Would you drop from 6 to 8 if Carolina coughed up next year's second rounder? i would think thats an easy yes

Would you drop to 15 if NE offered their first and second next year? thats tempting...
