Alright wentzldiks, riddle me this: Why waste a roster spot on a backup QB, if he can't be competent? I'll wait.

I agree, we should have traded Hurts instead of Wentz. Dam you Howie.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Find me a stronger Quarterback in this draft. Dare ya. Thats 600lbs boys.

That crap must have been massive. Hope he didnt pop a blood vessel on that 600 pound record breaker.

I did my first few TDN mock drafts and found myself double dipping at LB in round 3.

My question: Did Singleton show enough last year to not double dip at LB? Considering we likely won’t play much with three LBs, is it worth it to take two LBs high?

And heeeeeere we go ......

Wentz doesn’t say anything and he’s relentlessly bashed and labelled a malcontent who wants out

First thing Wentz says and "he didn’t even wait for the trade to become official and ..... "bash, bash, bash”

What did you say about Reggie White when he said God told him to go to Green Bay?  Either start the Reggie White bashing now, or just STFU

Oh stop with the lazy rhetoric. And enough with "Wentz not saying anything”. He said and didn’t say enough and it’s pretty clear what his intensions have been. He said enough behind the scenes to warrant this trade and enough for me to understand that he is an immature person. And that’s okay, he is 28 years old. I was certainly immature at 28 (and still probably so now). But Carson has some issues.

Oh and Reggie White was a free agent. Nice try.

One thing I can say with near certainty with Hurts: He will get the most out of his ability. His work ethic by all accounts is incredible. How good is a maxed out Hurts? That’s certainly debatable.

Eh, don't read in to that comment.  I'd argue that most Christians will say that God has a plan for them.  Look at Reggie White, God told him to sign with GB, who coincidentally had the biggest offer if I recall.

I don't think he's trying to deflect blame at all.

I do.  Anytime a higher power is used to support earthly and insignificant events I wonder.

*Taller, not "bigger/stronger".

Hurts has a "bigger/stronger" frame.  Lance would need to "bulk up" some in order for his frame to be comparable to Hurts' frame and he would likely lose some speed, if he were to go in that direction.

As for the rest, I haven't seen it in either his game film or on the stat sheet.  He reminds me of a poor man's Cunningham, to an extent...without Cunningham's vision or arm.

That said, I don't like "talking down" about young, college prospects.   I think Lance is a developmental QB who could eventually do well in the NFL but I certainly don't value him higher than Hurts.

Lance is a better QB than Hurts is, today.

Of course not.

I don't see it and nothing Lance has done in college shows that to be the case.

That said, we'll find out within 12 months time if Lance "is a better NFL ready QB than Hurts".   That's if Lance even starts his rookie year.  (Wherever he ends up).

Singleton, IMO, is best used as a rotational linebacker and not a foundation piece at all.  He's 28.  Yes, he led the team in tackles but SOMEONE had to make a tackle.  Not taking away from him.  He did look impressive but I think the the overall lack of talent at LB also made him look better than he is.

If you double dip in LB and they make sense then by all means do it.

You literally said after his first PC he couldn’t comment on a starting QB because he didn’t have time to sit down and review the film. All you do is spin your thoughts on the fly. And hiring Johnson is so overblown, the only connection is Hurts dad coached Johnson in high school. That’s literally it. And the fact you end this post defending Howie when I never even mentioned him is the cherry on top. I never thought I would find someone that felt the need to white knight Howie Roseman of all people.

I'm sure after he was hired, the first thing Siri did was review QB film, and he also talked to both QBs. Had he seen something to change his mind, he would have called Howie, "you can't let  him go, it would be a disaster. How can we make this work?" There is zero evidence that Siri felt blindsided, and it's hard to imagine the QBs weren't thoroughly discussed in the interview, though a trade wouldn't be discussed until the hiring decision. Once Siri was hired it's extremely unlikely that they didn't discuss whether they can make it work with Wentz and Hurts or should Wentz and/or Hurts be traded. The timeline, Siri is hired, hires his staff including Johnson, reviews film, then sits down with Howie and discusses the QB situation. After a week, Howie is taking calls but noncommittal about trading Wentz, keeping options open.

Johnson did know Hurts as a football player, he recruited him for MIssissippi State and was at Florida when Alabama beat them 24-7 in 2018, with Hurts at QB. I doubt he was hired b/c of his connection with Hurts, but it didn't hurt that he had a personal relationship with him.

FWIW, Howie's and the FO's best decisions were made when he had strong football knowledge and experience around him.  Last season was a perfect example of what happens when you let him run the circus.

Howie had control after 2012, Chip didn't have time to make decisions when he was hired, as a college football coach he didn't have knowledge of pro football, or even college football outside the Pac-10 (though I'm sure he gave input on Pac-10 players that first offseason, Ertz, Barkley, Kruger and Poyer). Chip brought Gamble in, a "real football man" to wrestle control and that's where the battle began in 2014. Chip fired Patch and Mueller in 2015 (heads of college scouting and pro personnel). Howie then regained personnel control in 2016, "i.e. ran the circus," when the organization was in disarray b/c of Chip's moves - and Howie hired those "football men" who advised him. He brought back Patch and Mueller as advisers in 2016, along with Tom Donohoe and brought in Douglas and Weidl in 2017, Weidl replaced Douglas in 2020.

Howie's biggest mistake was loyalty to players (may have been partially driven by Lurie) who brought them the Championship, his strongest suit has always been the ability to find marginal players at the end of the draft, off the waiver wire and raiding other teams' practice squads. So overpaying to keep fading players was not his normal MO.

I think that all depends on the style of Gannon. I know most want to expect him to call a game like Eburflus did but that is not always the case. he could run a completely different style/scheme , even formation preference. Nothing has been said yet on anything.

I think Singleton is a very good stop gap run defender and blitz LB. I see him as a situational LB on run downs and redzone.

I don’t mind a Running QB as long as he goes through his progressions first then takes off.
Hurts is a 1 sometimes 2 read QB then looks for running lanes. This will not work. The only reason Lamar gets away with it is because his speed isn’t normal and even at that Defenses he struggled last season till the last couple weeks.

Hope Sirianni can’t get him to learn to read the D go through his options before tucking it and running.

That's an argument/conversation I'm not going to engage because everyone is different with their faith and beliefs.  I'm not going to knock a super Christian like Carson Wentz the same I'm not going to knock an Atheist.  If Carson truly thinks this is God's plan for him that's great.  I hope the plan works out.

Are you sure?  We're talking 4 years of college and 4 games in the NFL; he's not a new or unknown commodity -- and he got much worse with each successive game.

Well we know your not from the Philly area since Geno's and Pat's are probably one of the worst cheesesteaks in the area. Only the outsiders who watch MNF talking them up during pregame think they are the Philly standard.

Me too.  But after he plays 75% of snaps and they go 1-15 this season

Goodwin had some serious underlying health issues, from what I recall.  I don't think the Eagles would hold that against him.  If he's not back, it would be for reasons not related to him "opting out", imo.

That of course is the question with every QB in the draft as well.

However, I'll bet on the guy with off the chart intangibles, who'll take to hard coaching and even after success, never stop working to improve.

When it's your QB setting the example for the team when it comes to hard work, it resonates through the clubhouse.
