Lance is a guy that you have sit on the bench for two years while you teach him how to play QB.  If he sees the field before then, he's going to make some plays with his legs, but he's not a QB yet.

Yep and that’s the last thing we need.  Another high pick sitting in the bench.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Why would that be unlikely? If they put them in the trade and they wanted them they might want to give them a year before going after another quarterback. Tua was just drafted in the top five last year so maybe they like Tua and the package of picks they get back so they don’t go quarterback

Tua was worse than Hurts last year and we're discussing taking a QB at 6. Miami/another team would have to do the same.

I completely agree. It makes sense for the Atlanta Falcons to actually take a player like that because you could have them sit behind Matt Ryan for a year or even two until he’s ready. I would’ve said Carolina because he could sit behind Teddy Bridgewater but I think Carolina believes are ready to win now and they need a win now quarterback. I am 100% with you though if he starts day one  you are in trouble

Wouldn't be shocked at all if the top 4 picks were all QBs.

Agreed Tua did not look explosive in any phase at all but I’ll give him a pass coming off that injury.

I mean, Hurts doesn’t know how to play QB and he’s going to start.

The "we" is only the fans and the media. They are falling into the FO hands making the other teams think the Eagles will take a QB making the pick more valuable to teams wanting a QB.

:)

My post implied the wrong thing.  I didn't mean they would cut him because he opted out.  I meant that because of his large salary cap number this season, then he's as good as gone and will have never played a single down for the Eagles.

Another nice trade by Howie.   Another wasted draft pick.  At least this one didn't cost cap space AND the draft pick.

41 minutes ago, DeathByEagle said:

I think his cap number is pretty cheap. Since he opted out I think he still gets his contract number from the 2020 season. I believe that was the rule for anyone opting out.

Nearly $5M.  That's not cheap for a WR that's really never been healthy and will just take snaps and reps in practice from younger WRs that desperately need them.

I don’t disagree he wasn’t very good last year. However he was a rookie with no off-season. Second I brought up A month ago the dolphins would be willing to take a quarterback because they don’t think he is the guy so i know the dolphins would consider it cause there were reports they could

However that does not mean the Texans if they make that trade with Miami (which was under your whole scenario) is just automatically go to take a Quarterback/unlikely to like tua. do you know that the Texans if they get them in a trade don’t like him? You’re assuming it’s unlikely they like tua because he didn’t play well as a rookie, the Texans just think he sucks and they’re gonna move on. They could think the fact that he was coming off a major injury, was rookie with no off-season and they still think he has high potential that they don’t go after a quarterback. You just completely make it likely they would dislike tua it could be the opposite. I think it’s more unlikely they trade for tua and just dislike him from the start.

Actually, in a rebuild, that's not a bad thing.  The high pick at another position could lead to a couple extra wins, hurting the draft position the next year, while having a real talent on the bench because he's too raw might make for an explosive improvement in year 2 or 3 (with another very high pick or two), rather than an incremental improvement in year 1 with a lower pick and less impactful draft pick in year 2.

And?  That was a bad decision, and Hurts also still needs to learn how to play QB.  Working him as a Wildcat player in the early part of the season was even dumber.

And if Lance and Hurts came out together, Lance would still be a 1st round pick and Hurts a 3rd or later.  If the team wants to put the best team on the field, Lance would start.

Someone is going to take Sewell.  Plug and play tackle who could be a pro-bowl player within a couple of years.

That depends how much faith the coaches have in their ability to develop some of these young receivers. And also the health of the OL. Otherwise putting any rookie out there could be a disaster long term.

I think someone is taking Chase top 5

If anyone is there at 6 and they take a QB is going to be tough to cheer for this team.

I'll always be a fan of them, but if they pass on Chase for a QB I'm not watching until Howie is gone. It would be the final straw.

Read my post.  If the team is putting the best players on the field, that would be Lance.  He would give them the best chance to win.  Take all of the other "potentials" out of it.  He'd be a much higher rated talent than Hurts.

So your saying drafting a guy at number 6 who needs to sit because he doesnt know how to play QB yet is a good thing so we can have good draft position in the future in one post. But then saying playing Hurts who doesnt know how to play QB is a bad decision? Im trying to put two and two together here. Why not do with Hurts what you want to do with a rookie who is just as young instead of wasting a pick?

But you don't want to potentially ruin the guy you think is the long term answer. That's all I'm saying.

I don't think there is a chance.  Howie will still be pretending that Jalen Hurts is Russell Wilson II on that day.

Probably.  When is LSU's pro-day?

I know that you are trying to say and I agree that is a potential.  Taking that out of the equation, the Eagles best chance to win would be with Lance.  What does it tell the player, team, and fans that the team starts the player that gives them LESS chance to win?  You should know.  You have been posting about that with Wentz for months.

What separates Trey Lance from Tyree Jackson who we have on the roster already and are converting to TE?

Jackson has a stronger arm.

Oh I agree but this is different. That was a team who were making noises about being contenders. This now is a rebuild in every sense.
