Yes and no, they picked high almost every year, even a blind squirrel . . . here are the guys who started for the SB team, 12 picks in the last 7 drafts:

2014:  #7 Evans WR,

2015:  #34 Smith T, #61 Marpet C

2016:

2017:  #50 Evans S, #84 Godwin WR

2018:  #38 Jones RB, #63 Davis CB, #117 Whitehead S

2019:  #5 White LB, #39 Murphy-Bunting CB,

2020:  #13 Wirfs T, #45 Winfield S

top backups

#19-2017, Howard TE

#12-2018 Vea DT,

#94-2019 Dean CB

#208-2019 Miller WR

#161-2020 Johnson WR

#144-2018 Watson WR

#107-2019 Nelson LB

The key for TB's success was bringing in Brady, Gronkowski, Jensen C, Suh, Nunez-Roches DT, JPP, and holdovers David and Gholston, pre-Licht.

Yeah, it's not perfect for sure... but I feel like we can spin this same data as evidence for good drafting as well...

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Reminds me of Quez a little bit but with much less production.  Why was his production so low?

Iowa has never had an offense that puts any focus on WR.  Very tight end and running back heavy.

WTF kinda BS is this. Besides isn't Philadelphia a majority black city anyways?

Vea is a starter not a backup

And how can you talk about key to their success, and not mention shaq barret,  you dont wartch enough of them to offer a serious take.

Oh yeah, Barrett is just plain weird. Cut 2 times by Denver as a rookie UDFA, then signed to their PS. Then played 4 years, 18 sacks of the bench. BPass rush OLB/DE.

Goes to TB, has 19.5 sacks last year, 8 this year as a starter. Another free agent addition.

Point is it took seven years to build up the team through the draft, missing the playoff six times, and what turned the corner was a FA blitz.

One thing that stands out about TB was their failure to find UDFA/SFA gems, which is probably why it took so long to build the team.

I don't think Sirianni prioritizes speed in WRs, size, hands, route running are probably more important.

Eagles have enough speed on the roster that it'll be an afterthought when drafting, what they need are reliable targets who can get open underneath.

Key will be keeping team together lots of top free agents  , I say all but fournette and suh are back , but they will get comp picks.

Not sure about that. Its said to be a very horizontal offense which means getting the ball to WRs in space. Now that can work with quicker than fast guys, but those arent usually your best run blockers. On the other hand your JJAWs and Alshon Jeffery arent at their best in horizontal offenses trying to make plays with the ball in their hands. The best of both worlds might be someone around 6'0'' with good speed and quickness.

Quartney Davis, Parris Campbell are recent picks that are around that 6'0'' size. Of course he seems to want an X with prototypical size. Hence Pittman and Patmon as well.

Ok, so you want to waste not 1 but 2 early picks in back to back years of the draft for the possibility that he might be a ok QB in the NFL in 3 years and needs a new contract the next year. This is getting good, lol

Nope.  I never said I wanted Lance, but nice try.

Yep, I called this months ago that it was only a matter of time before there was an article pointing towards this.

One of the worst things with racism is that people just assume things.  Nothing based on facts but these assumptions with no backing.  It's honestly tearing our country apart and "journalists" like this moron from Deadspin are the people driving it and keeping it going.  Here's a thought.  Stop writing stories based off assumptions and find the truths.  This is wrong on so many levels.

But what if Lane or Brooks or Slay or Kelce or Cox or the Coaches have win and playoff bonuses.  Think they are playing the less talented player?

And that comparison above...sitting behind Montana is a completely different story than sitting behind Jalen Hurts.

Coaches would be part of the decision making process on who should be the QB.  They keep their jobs based on wins and losses much more than getting bonuses.

Meanwhile, Lane, Brooks, Slay, Kelce and Cox are on their way out of here.

If Lance fails, does Howie survive for the next franchise qb?

If not, I say draft Lance.  Big upside either way.  Either Lance is the next big thing or Howie gets fired.  Could you make a better investment with the 6th pick?

Masochist.

He’s not that good

While I agree with everything you said, that was than and this is now. Those days of sitting a quarterback to watch from the sidelines and learn are over. Maybe if you have a hall of famer like Rodgers you can get to do that but that's no longer the standard. It's to much of a business now with all of the money involved. This is a win now league and what have you done for me lately.

Well... what seems to be happening is QBs are being ruined rather than developed.   Look at the QBs being moved on from their current teams... 2016, both gone.  2017, gone...  its a shame.   Maybe they should think more about the long run than the short run.

5 minutes worth of research could have squashed this, but I guess that is too much to ask these days from some of these writers.

So we are debating whether or not the best pass catchers on our team would get scooped up as back roster additions on other teams.

That's what Howie has done to this roster.  It's criminal.

That would involve work, talking to people and investigating stuff.   Too much effort.

The Philadelphia metro area 6.1 million people (Philadelphia + suburbs) is predominantly white:  61% White, 20% Black, 10% Hispanic, 6% Asian.

What I want to know is how does Deadspin know how many fans want Wentz over Hurts?  Did they do a poll or something?  Are they going off what 20 people said on Twitter and assume the entire fan base feels this way?

Like that with everything now days.

They are assuming it because 41% of those polled wanted to keep Wentz.  And to point at "racism" as being the cause is absurd, imo.

Growing up in Philly, the majority of "white people" were of Irish, German, Polish and Italian descent so I can see how some people might have been infatuated with having a red-headed, 6'5, white QB, with the last name "Wentz".......but at the end of the day, Philly is Philly and they're going to want the guy that wins...hence why (even in their own poll), 59% still preferred Hurts (the Black guy) over Wentz.

And 100% green. All who want the Eagles to win.  We just want the best player.  Race be damned.  THAT would be the real Philly take.

Damn right. A few of us want Lance. Guess that is an issue too.

Has Kelce made a comment yet? Is there a date in which he'd have to make a comment?

Going to miss him when it happens
