Let's not get carried away here.

Dallas Goedert and Jalen Reagor combined for a whopping 920 yards and 4 TDs in 2020, combined stats that wouldn't even make a young Jordan Matthews jealous.

Jacksonville: Chark/Shenault: 1306 yards 10 TDs

Giants: 1407 yards 6 TDs

Houston: Cooks/Fuller: 2029 yards 14 TDs

LAC: Allen/Williams: 1748 yards 13 TDs

Bears and Lions haven't lost Robinson and Golloday yet, so they aren't in the discussion.

And Miles Sanders is not a sufficiently special or durable back that he changes the complexion of having the worst pass targets in the NFL (neck and neck with the Pats) into having anything but a bottom 2 trio of weapons.

I was looking at it thru the lens of WR/TE/RB, but yes if you do just three best we certainly lag behind

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Just my 2 cents on the Wentz situation...I believe with all the leaks coming out about him and then watching Howie not make any real moves to add offensive talent last offseason really destroyed his trust in the organization, he saw the cardinals make a move for Hopkins, the bills trade for Diggs while the eagles went out and paid another DT 13 mil a year...so then the draft comes and they are in range for Lamb and they don’t move up, they have Jefferson fall right into their laps and they go with Reagor, and then obviously the Hurts pick was the straw that really broke the camels back...none of this excuses Wentz’s regression and he’s to blame for that but I believe he was mentally checked out from this organization before the start of the 2020 season, and as the season went on he was caught in that quicksand and there was no way out...I was a big Wentz believer, I thought he was one of the next all time greats but it was best for the organization and Wentz to move on, hopefully Howie learns from this and supports his QB or Lurie wakes up and fires Howie if things stay the same...Go Birds

No one is doubting his mental ability, it’s his arm talent. Plain and simple. That’s why he got benched at halftime in a championship game for a guy who has average NFL arm talent.

Plenty of people doubt his mental ability to make more than one read

Here's a fun question.  We need a talented QB with projectable arm talent.  Might need to accept a redshirt year.

Packers pissed off Aaron Rodgers in the draft last year, neglected to upgrade their roster, now are scrambling to keep him happy.

Would you trade for Jordan Love?  He's already got that red shirt year in the bank, learning from the best in the business.  Packers could get a big return on their investment to turn around and make Aaron happy with weapons in this draft.

Not saying I'd do it, but I'd kick those tires.

Maybe you pull a reverse Brett Favre on GB.

He has arm strength, and he improved substantially at Oklahoma, memo to fans, young players often improve by leaps and bounds.

We'll see if the new staff can coach him up, but even last year, you can see he has nice touch on his longer passes, some beautiful throws - the key is consistency and mastering the mental part of the NFL game. If he can be average in the pocket, then his legs become a serious weapon b/c you can't focus on stopping him from running - if he's a one read/run QB, then he has a limited future. But this holds for almost every QB you draft these days, how many play in the pro style offense in college? That's one reason they wanted Wentz.

Some folks must not pay attention to games because if they did, they would have seen Hurts make some incredible throws last season....bombs that dropped like dimes to Reagor, Jackson and Ward.

Yea, the problem isn't arm strength.  It's being a QB.

Yep.  Don't count this team out next season, especially with the current status of the NFC East.  If Hurts comes out and plays out of his mind,. this could be a 9+ win team...and 9 wins could win the division.

I'm tooting my horn but I have already predicted a couple days ago in this blog an NFC East title and an 11-5 record for our lovable Birds.

Hurts had the highest ratio of rushing yards to passing yards of any QB to start 3 or more games in the last 20 years besides Tim Tebow.  He's not a quarterback.

I don't think we have to worry about that.  I worry about this division more than anything else.  Makes it hard for a 3-win quality team to actually be a 3-win team.

Goedert/Sanders/Reagor might be the worst trio of weapons in the NFL.  I don't think we will have a healthy OL at all.  This time last year, our OL was a healthy Dillard/Seumalo/Kelce/Brooks/Johnson.  Right now, our OL is Mailata/Seumalo/no one/rehabbing Brooks/rehabbing Lane.

Their only chance of winning any individual game is the blueprint from wins in 2020.  Hope the team is missing their QB, hope Hurts runs for enough first downs and TDs.

I'd argue a huge reason for the offense sputtering was playcalling, a crumbling OL and Wentz's absolute refusal to throw shallow YAC routes (which I think would have helped Sanders and Reagor statistically a lot).  Talent was certainly also an issue but I guess I'm also putting a huge portion of the issues on scheme. We'll see if Sirianni can do anything about that.

And while I think the OL is likely to have huge injury concerns, last year's OL injury luck was about as low as you can get.

So yeah, I don't think they're gonna be good.  But I'm predicting like a 5-7 win team next year in a bad division. Which IMO is a crappy place to be in if we start the franchise QB hunt at that point.

We already went over this.  AND he was 6th ALL TIME in passing yards during that same time frame for a rookie QB in his first 4 career starts.  Your theory has been officially debunked.

And I'll ask you again, since you never responded the first time I asked you....how many yards did Tim Tebow pass for during his first 4 starts?

So is Merrill the voice of the team and telling us to be ready for Hurts as QB?

For anyone keeping track, the Eagles play the Colts in 2022.  If the NFL has a sense of humor, they’ll make that game in Philly.

It will be away. The last one in 2018 was a home game.

I was living in Denver during the Tebow Times.  He and Hurts just simply can't be compared to each other.   But it was a nice throw to Thomas in the OT playoff game against the Steelers.

If the Eagles win this year, it should be like Miami, who cleared everyone out in a rebuild, then won 10 games with Fitzpatrick and Tua at QB.

Miami's roster - look how many 3rd day picks, UDFAs and SFAs filled out their team, one big name FA in CB Jones, a few bargain basement signings.

QB:  Fitz/Tua #5-2020

RB:  Gaskin #234-2019, Ahmed, UDFA, Brieda, (T, 5th rd), Bowden (T, with 6th rd for 4th rd), Cox #233-2019, Perry #246-2020

WR:  Parker, #14-2015, P Williams, UDFA, Grant #186-2016, Ford, #e237-2017, Hollins, SFA

TE:  Gesicki, #42-2018, Smythe #123-2018, Shaheen (T, 6th rd)

OL:  Jackson, #18-2020 - Flowers, SFA - Karras (1yr/$3M) - Kindley #111-2020 - Hunt #39-2020

DL:  Wilkins #13-2019 - Davis #56-2020 - Ogbah ($3.75M); Seiler, SFA, Godchaux, #178-2017

LB:  Van Ginkel #151-2019 - Roberts, SFA - Baker, #73-2018 - Van Noy ($3M); Lawson ($6.4M), Gruiger-Hill, SFA

CB:  B Jones ($11M) - Howard #38-2016; Needham, UDFA, Igbinoghene, #30-2020

S:  McCain, #145-2015 - Rowe, SFA; B Jones #70-2020

What carried them was a top ten defense, their DC, Boyer in his first year in that role after 10 years as a DB coach.

Yes, South Jersey and parts of Delaware are considered "metro Philadelphia".  And yes, predominantly Eagles fans, without question.  You can't just use the actual city limit demographics when evaluating the demographics of Eagles fans.  And no one uses that, btw.  When evaluating demographics of fan bases, you first look at metro areas then look at the broader, attached areas....

I was only using Metro Philadelphia but Eagles fan territory goes out much further, well into Lancaster county, Berks, parts of Harrisburg,  Poconos, and even northern parts of Maryland. (All predominantly white areas). I can assure you, without question, the majority of Eagles fans are white.

Yes I know where Eagles fans live. Im in South Jersey. But there are Eagles/Philly fans all over the world. Your in Florida right? Half the state of Florida are Eagles fans so yes it goes MUCH further then Philly. So should we count them as well?

The article said "Philly" and people were talking about the race demographics in the city. So to me when someone wants to start throwing out numbers they should be correct so go by "Philly" which if you dont know is short for the city of Philadelphia.(Yes I know your not that simple and know that) Not your "Metro Philadelphia" including 3 other states.

Maybe he was.  I just asked.  Seems to be a whole lot of nothing.  I just want some normalcy with this team.

I doubt it since no one in here suggested it was a problem that Sirianni took some time off from work to have a personal life. In fact, everyone agreed it was a non-issue.

You didnt need Merrill to see the writing on the wall. Its just common sense to see they will be playing Hurts. Id expect them to draft a QB in the 2021 draft. I just expect that pick to be made in a mid/late round.

I was responding to the poster saying, "How can they be racist if most of Philly is black?? or something along those lines.

And my point was that the majority of Eagles fans are indeed white and they're not racist...they just "fell in love" with a certain white, red headed QB named Wentz (maybe because he reminds them of their own heritage (Irish, German, Polish, etc).  Heck, they picked him over the other white guy that won them a Super Bowl...so no, it's not "racist" per say...more of an infatuation...that has seemingly come to an end...since most 59% wanted Hurts over Wentz regardless.

He’s just a cheerleader.

So we are relying on Hurts being better than Tebow?  That’s the argument for him?  I already said he’s a better passer than Tebow.  But that’s the category he’s in.

This was the quote that started the topic to get the demographic numbers.

"WTF kinda BS is this. Besides isn't Philadelphia a majority black city anyways?"

Does it say Eagles fans? No It asks about the city of Philadelphia. You need to pay more attention to details sir.

I also would never put out a claim like the bold section. you have no idea world wide if a majority are white. you also have no idea if they are racist. Racist can go both ways. For those claims you better have sources and I can bet there is zero chance you can get that. Best to keep your theories out of a subject like that and stick to facts.

He's not even close to the same category.  He was a better passer than Tebow in college and has been an exponentially better passer than Tebow in their first 4 NFL starts.

The smartest thing Hurts did was get out of Alabama, which does not do a good job of developing NFL QBs.

Tua at #5 was overdrafted, after that it's a pretty bad list of QBs from Alabama:

McCarron, #164-2014

McElroy, #208-2011

Coyle - #85-2006

Barker - #160-1995

Oklahoma on the other hand, Murray and Mayfield both #1, Landry Jones #115-2013, Bradford #1-2010.

So I'd just dismiss Hurts at Alabama and focus on what he did at Oklahoma coming in cold with a new scheme.

And that's why his quote doesn't make sense because the Eagles fanbase goes beyond the city limit of Philadelphia.  And when 99.99999999% of people say the name "Philadelphia" in regards to a population (and yes, fanbase) they are referring to METRO PHILADELPHIA...which includes all 6.1 million people and the suburbs that I quoted earlier.
