There was noting reactive, I'd point out that the Eagles converted Bradley from QB to Safety three decades ago.

The guys you convert are the ones with the skills for the new position. WR speed and agility, TE speed, size and hands (you don't ask QBs and WRs to become great blockers), OL you look at DL with size and athleticism who lack explosion and/or aggression but have high IQ.

And Ward is just fine, he's a slot WR, he gets open on 3rd down, you're not going to have 53 above average starters on any roster, you need role players.

And when you can turn UDFAs into role players, you've improved your team at no cost.

Sadly when you can turn draft picks into worse than UDFAs, you've vastly hurt your team at a high cost.  See also, JJAW.  But, we get to rely on UDFAs like Greg Ward and scrap heap pickups like Travis Fulgham, because the FAs they sign can't stay healthy, and the guys they draft can't play... So, now we see Greg Ward and get all excited because almost approaches average.  8 yards per reception.   8.  That's Eight.  That's 2 yards less than you'd hope for from an average TE.  And this is the guy that the team saw with 'speed and agility' and decided to throw a bunch of flanker screens to him.

When the only good moves you can point to for Howie is a bunch of long shots becoming almost average, and a bunch of aging stars that are really good (with the added caveat of 'when healthy') that's a really bad sign for the future of a franchise.

If only they could find ONE above average starter at a skill position for this offense.  That would be fun.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I doubt the top 3 QBs will last to 6.  And if we take someone like Lance or Jones at #6 there will be riots.

Get your riot gear ready.

Conspiracy alert

Guess why Ertz couldnt get an extension. Pederson's son is in this draft as a TE. Thats Josh Pederson from UL Monroe.

Man, I got all excited to see the official Eagles statement graphic.  We knew this was happening, thought it was something bigger.

Now, bring in an outsider with fresh, new, innovative ideas, please don't promote from within.

Will
Matt Burke suffice?

I was winning this mock draft when was reading about those later round TEs. I went with Gray from Duke, but Im sure we will be going with Pederson in the real draft.

No.  We have to celebrate Alex Singleton, Boston Scott and Greg Ward.   We can't lament missed draft picks like JJAW, Sydney Jones, Rasul Douglas and taking Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson.  We need celebrate that our draft picks can't play for us while we are forced to watch Greg Ward fail at flanker screens and punt returns, Boston Scott as the fill in for our oft-injured, in need of rest lead RB and as the kickoff returner.

(Reagor was a punt returner in college, John Hightower was a kickoff returner at Boise State, Quez Watkins also has experience in college at both, primarily at punt returner)  Go out and prioritize athleticism in these WRs they draft... go on and on about how versatile Reagor is and use it as justification for drafting him over Jefferson, and then refuse to use him that way.

This franchise is heading in the right direction... right to the top pick in the draft for 2022.

I find it amusing that Afan dismisses speed and size for our non athletic stiffs but mentions it first, above all else, for the guys we bring in that have those specs.

For the record, it’s a worthwhile lottery ticket.

I feel silly that I didn’t realize he’s been trolling all of us for years.

Looks good!

These QBs need to stay out of the hiring process. Even if I can somewhat understand being involved in the HC hire, what the hell does Watson or any other QB know about GM candidates and how to build a franchise?

Apparently he just wanted to give a list of candidates for them to consider even if they didn’t want to hire them and for ownership to meet with him before making a final decision. He’s just mad his thoughts and feelings weren’t considered. Sounds diva-ish to me

Deshaun Watson thinks he’s in the NBA, I guess ....

Lol well it's the least they could do.

Based off why Adam schefter had on Facebook

By hiring former New England Patriots executive Nick Caserio to solve a large set of problems within the organization, the Houston Texans have created additional ones with star quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson offered his input on potential general manager candidates, but the Texans neither considered nor consulted with those endorsed by their franchise quarterback, league sources told ESPN.

Additionally, the Texans did not inform Watson that they intended to hire Caserio, and he found out about the hire on social media. That contributed to Watson taking to Twitter that night to post "some things never change...."

Watson's feelings were not directed toward Caserio, sources told ESPN, but instead were indicative of the way business was again conducted by the Texans.

Last offseason, Houston didn't let Watson know that star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins would be traded, which led to some disappointment. Now that it has happened again, Watson is said to be infinitely more bothered, sources told ESPN.

This time, Watson had met with Texans owner Cal McNair on several instances, sharing thoughts on certain candidates that came highly recommended, with Watson suggesting that the team at least talk to them, sources told ESPN. He did not expect Houston to hire those that he endorsed, but he was hoping the Texans would be respectful of the feelings of the group of his teammates that he was trying to represent, sources told ESPN.

The Texans, however did not act on their quarterback's thoughts and charged ahead with a hire that mattered to a much smaller circle than the one that Watson was trying to aid, sources told ESPN.

Even if they didn't want to move forward with any of Watson's recommended candidates, sources told ESPN that Watson wanted to at least have the opportunity to meet with ownership's finalists so he could offer his thoughts from a player standpoint to benefit the team -- and then the Texans could hire who they wanted. That opportunity never came.

Bigger sticking point I would’ve brought in guys from other practice squads in general. Seen what they looked like for a week instead of heading into a game with not even enough guys active. Berman talked about this on their podcast. There was no reason not to try poaching some guys on other practice squads you liked and going into a game knowing you weren’t fielding a full roster and could maneuver the IR to your advantage.

Problem was by the second half of the season, between players activated for injuries and COVID, and teams able to protect 4 PS guys each week, the pickings around the league were probably much thinner than normal seasons, while PS spots had to be reserved for NFL ready players like McGill.

They did bring in a bunch of guys off other team's PS during the season.

Better take a look at the rosters of the three teams with the most wins, their lineups are full of UDFA JAGs and projects they turned into starters.

Again there’s more guys than just 4 they can’t choose from around the league. Again Dave they could’ve done it. Quit defending a team when there were other teams this week that did it. Your spin job ridiculous already. Yes we can point out things they failed to do.

They are also full of mvp candidates. Again another crappy spin job by you to point out the bills, packers and chiefs yesterday as those are the three teams with the top 3 MVP candidates all with QBs taking in the first round. No crap they are going to be good when their QBs are having mvp seasons and two are likely first ballot HOFers. Makes a difference when your QB can carry you and cover up your weakness

You mean like 2017?

Did any of them lose 4 starting OL?

You mean those teams that actually acquired top 5 WRs when they had a chance. And developed and drafted immense better than the eagles? But please Dave keep spinning your excuses for the eagles

yes the packers didn’t lose their LT and also had their starting center out for weeks  and I’m guessing the chiefs and bills had their share of injuries as well. Meanwhile the eagles lost their LT who might be a bust or good and seumalo for as long as the packers lost their center. And on top of it the eagles own stupidity to remove herbig when he was playing well

but yes let’s keep going back to 2017. It was now 3 seasons ago. Move on already. Add on yes their offense did cover up for their secondary against good offenses. Hence the Rams game, chiefs game and Patriots game. I actually brought it up that season.  2017 is done. They are far from that and closer to Reid’s 2012 team except lacking young talent like cox, kelce and Graham
