If the scouts and the coaches are gaga over a QB on the board at #6, you take him, if they're "he's good, but no guarantees" then pass and see what you have with Hurts.

I mean you wouldn't pass on the next Mahomes at #6, you might pass on the next Goff.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

If Hurts is as bad as many of think he is, he'll fail with this sub-par supporting class and we'll be drafting in the top 5 next year. We can take another QB then.

Exactly. Playing Hurts this year is a free option and a win-win. Either he surprises to the upside and we have our QB, or he puts us in position to draft one next year when we will have Indy's pick as additional ammo if we need to move up.

So of course Howie will be an idiot and draft a QB at 6 this year.

Or he's what the majority are saying, a low end starter that will win enough to put you around 10, 11 and 12 and be in no mans land for a QB. Basically what Bridgewater just did to the Panthers.

You mean the 31 GMs who passed on Metcalf?

Exactly, some scouts almost quit their jobs over that pick.    As told to me by a scout in Jacksonville " if you can bench 225lbs, 27 times, then yes, the Dr’s are correct, he’s healthy you dope”    See if I help him with plumbing issues in his house ever again!!!

Yup, although I've heard next years qb class sucks

What about all these guys that he was drastically wrong on ??

They were all drafted pretty close to within a round of where he had them ranked.  I'm not sure whether that's a drastic difference.  I also think Jeremiah doesn't do a top 50 or 150 as a sort of mock draft. He's ranking the players based on his talent evaluation and what scouts are likely saying around the League.  This is what most other sites do but Jeremiah is probably the most qualified person that's doing the evaluations in the media and the most connected to the NFL scouting community.  I just don't think you can look at him as an outlier and that the Eagles were out in left field in terms of evaluating Hurts as a second round pick.

Sounds promising.

If Jalen Hurts is as good as 2020 Teddy Bridgewater, we'll easily get a 2nd round pick back for him in 2021. Competent QB play on a 2nd round rookie contract with 2 years left? That gets traded.

Concerns about a poor 2022 QB class are real, but Zach Wilson wasn't supposed to be a top 2 pick. Burrow was unknown before going #1 overall. Watson/Wilson/Rodgers might be available via trade next off-season. It's ok to "hold".

Disagree. I don't think its nearly that simple. They need to do a full evaluation at the QB class this year. Then they need to look ahead at the potential of the QB's next year. The worst thing they could do is just throw their hands up in the air and go with the Hurts for one year proposal. If they do their due diligence and aren't wow'ed with anyone, fine, go with Hurts. But the option at taking a QB has to be on the table this year. What good does it do for the team to roll with Hurts without at least exploring other options, getting pick 8 next year, then having to trade multiple firsts and other picks to just draft someone as good or worse than they could get at six this year?

You realize Carson isn't on the team anymore? Maybe you should create your own thread were you can argue with the Carson Wentz supporters.  It seems like you want that argument but I have never seen you effectively engage in the discussion in this thread.

We'll know a lot about Hurts when TC comes around. The videos on Social Media are nice, but they don't always translate to game situations.  Whatever people think of Hurts, his career won't die because of a lack of hard work on his part.  He's not got the natural talent of Wentz, but not many QBs do.

If the other elements that make up being a good QB click with him, he has a good chance of making it.

It's ok to hold if you have a plan in place and did thorough research. It's not ok to hold just for the sake of holding. Other than that, I agree with the rest.

He's right.

There are more than 32 QBs better than him out there. 😁

I really think we need to pump the brakes on declaring Hurts a bum or a future starter. All rookies were handicapped in 2020 due to the lack of an offseason program. On top of that, Hurts spent the first half of the season trying to be Taysom Hill. I'm not overly concerned that he was more of a run first QB in the 4 games he played, because I doubt he really had much time to actually learn the offense and was playing behind an abortion of an offensive line.

Do I think he will be our long term answer at QB? No, based on his play in college, I don't see it. But what he did in 4 games in 2020 with no offseason, limited reps and no protection really isn't factoring into my opinion. 2021 is a full rebuild anyway, so no harm in handing him the keys and seeing if he can show us something. If not we will have 2 picks in the 1st round in 2022 and can target a QB then. You don't draft a QB in the second round and never even see if he can be the guy.

What's your opinion of the 2022 class? I asked someone earlier(don't remember who) and they said it was like this one but without a player like Lawrence. That doesn't seem like a good time to pick a franchise QB

For this upcoming year, the most likely outcome for Hurts is also the worst possible scenario for the Eagles. He'll show some improvement, have a good amount of splash plays, but ultimately lack the necessary consistency. Despite not being great, he'll be just good enough that the organization wouldn't dare move on from him in 2022. Welcome to purgatory (the worst position that a NFL team can be in).

Chazz is like a fifth or 6th round pick. You don't pick a defensive player in the third round that lacks aggression and strength at a strength position.

There has gotta be something I'm missing here if we ignore Parsons in the first. Somebody paid somebody off. Or this is all an illusion.

How did you feel last year?  Because Kenneth Murray was a better player — so was Patrick Queen

Walter Football has him as the 52nd ranked player.

McShay has him ranked 47th

Surratt is an uber-athletic linebacker with great potential. The Chiefs don't have a pressing need at the position right now but if they wanted to exercise foresight, they could do much worse than taking him. His potential makes him an enticing prospect with Day 2 value, probably as a late-second or early third-round pick who needs some seasoning. The Chiefs have been here before, so whether they'd be willing to do it for a second-consecutive year remains to be seen.

A 4-3 LB top 10?  The onus is on you to argue the value there.  This isn’t 1990.

You're literally describing 2018-19 Carson Wentz
