Did a Football Guy make it? Jon Robinson, GM of Tennessee for five seasons.

Director of scouting for the Patriots for five years, Director of player personnel for the Bucs for three years.

So how did he possibly make such a mistake?

We wish our roster and cap was in as good a shape as Tennessee’s.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I think that reflects inexperience, and Doug's playcalling (how many crossing routes, rubs, etc. did we run all season?).

Throwing over the middle is scary, bad things happen if you don't know what you're doing. Got to know where the LBs drop, etc. Windows can close quickly.

Throwing sidelines passes one on one is safe if you have and accuracy, which Hurts showed on those throws.

Nah out routes are layups against prevent defenses

We will get the data we need this year. I expect it to reinforce his shortcomings and we can get on the hunting the next franchise qb

Tennesse after going 13-3 in 2008, missed the playoffs 8 straight seasons, then went 9-7, 9-7, 9-7, 9-7, 11-5.

2020 drafted sucks so far, 2019 was solid, #19 Simmons DT, #51 AJ Brown WR, #82 Davis G; 2018:  #22 Evans LB, #41 Landry LB; 2017:  #5 Davis WR, #18 A Jackson CB, #100 J Smith TE, #155 J Brown LB; 2016: #8 Conklin T, #33 Dodd DE (whiff), #43 A Johnson NT, #45 Henry RB, #64 Byard S, #140 Sharpe WR

That's silly.  Everyone knows these things are cyclic.

I'm sure Tennessee wishes they had our Lombardi. Maybe they'd even trade these contender years for terrible years if it meant they'd win a championship,  as almost every eagles fan used to say they would.

Eagles got that Lombardi.  Now they aren't down with the part of the deal where they are forced to pay up a they said they'd be willing to.  Instead they've turned their backs on every one of the most key components of the championship run and only blame those guys for the teams downfall.

Three elite or close to it players in the past five years. Jeffery Simmons looks really good too, with potential to join the other three as one of the best at his position.

Of course they’d rather have a Lombardi. What’s your point? That it’s OK to be bad at FA signings and drafts the next three years? At some point we have to stop living in the past. Winning the Super Bowl didn’t cause us to bottom out. Bad picks and FA signings did.

There are teams that won a SB and didn't end up at the bottom of the NFL afterwards...

It's not like you win and then end up trash

Yes the GM called him out. Didnt help he was arrested for a DUI 3 days before the season started. Dude just never hit the field. Was even a healthy scratch a few times and they stored him on the Covid list a few times as well.

Yup. He couldn’t just not party during the season so he has to keep going on and coming off because he was a close contact. Dudes immature as hell. I’d be doing everything I could to trade him if I were the Titans GM.

I wonder if they end up going after his guaranteed money.

Yeah, I love afan, but he's biased. He's got on the green goggles. If those same Tennessee drafts were Eagles drafts, he'd be defending how good they were.

Yea. I wonder what kind of window they have. I think his agent would have a pretty good case if they didn’t do anything at the time and just now are trying to go after it. It’s also probably just a matter of time until he does something stupid again though.

The point is,  they're on the way up and we are on the way down.  We are in different points of the cycle.  But our peak was as high as you can go. Theirs peak is yet undetermined.  And they'll go back down too. More than likely with out a championship.

We are lucky.  And their position is not one to envy as we have already experienced it for ourselves, while they are still trying to figure out how to get there and likely will fail like 31 other teams each year.   And we will be back with cap space if our own soon enough. We are in the same cycle as all other 31 teams.

And no one wants to admit it but our GM is great at rebuilding quickly.

You're speaking as if our current predicament was the natural result of winning a championship. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to embrace bad contracts. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to embrace bad trades. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to sign old, oft-injuried players. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to make questionable (at best) draft picks.

If we truly had to sell our soul to win the Superbowl I think everyone would understand and be ok with it. If Howie rolled the dice, mortgaged the team's future, and it resulted in a Superbowl win, then we'd all be content with the current state of the team. However, that's just not what happened. The miserable state of this team is by no means the result of the Superbowl win.

Why round is Dyami Brown expected to be drafted in? He looks pretty good. Strong hands, physical, explosive.

No, Howie rolled the dice he could get us back to the SB. He lost, but he had a lot of bad injury luck.

There were only two questionable movies, signing DeSean and extending Jeffrey - and even then, Wallace getting injured lead to DeSean.

Jerrigan gets injured - Malik gets injured - Hargrave.

Darbry can't stay healthy - Slay

Howie is like the drunk man at the casino that hit it big and then tried to double his winnings. Predictably, he ended up dipping into his kid's college savings.

You never answered my question from yesterday. In your opinion, is there anything that Howie is below average at?

Nope, just bad luck apparently.

Now that Wentz is in IND, the Eagles haven’t drafted a Pro Bowl player since Lane and Ertz were drafted in 2013.  There is no way to remain a contender if you can’t restock your talent as it gets older.

There have been bad decisions in FA and some trades haven’t worked out — but getting nothing out of the draft year after year is the kiss of death, and the biggest single factor in the Eagles’ rapid downfall.

"Howie Roseman is above average at evaluating and bringing in UDFA’s as well scouring practice squads. His elite level recognition is what brought pro bowl player Rick Lovato to Philadelphia.”

And since the main factor in that level of failure remains, there is little hope in significant change.  This could be a long struggle.

Interesting factoid: After Ertz is cut/traded, the Eagles will go into next season without a player who has ever been a 1,000 yard rusher or receiver.

The all-time best receiving season for anyone on the roster will be 2019 Dallas Goedert: 607 yards, 10.5 ypc, 5 TD.

Yeah but Howie has been really good at identifying and liking the pro-bowl talent that goes before our pick.  Just ask Lurie.  So you can pretty much add the Bosas, Chase Young, Mahomes, and many others to the extensive list of pro-bowl talent that Howie has evaluated and identified.
