Yeah but Howie has been really good at identifying and liking the pro-bowl talent that goes before our pick.  Just ask Lurie.  So you can pretty much add the Bosas, Chase Young, Mahomes, and many others to the extensive list of pro-bowl talent that Howie has evaluated and identified.

Howie is so good he probably already identified Trevor Lawrence as a top 1st round pick even without a combine.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Some pretty interesting RB prospects in this draft again.  Hopefully the Eagles don’t trade up to grab a 6th round prospect in the 4th round like that other time.

Did a Football Guy make it? Jon Robinson, GM of Tennessee for five seasons.

Director of scouting for the Patriots for five years, Director of player personnel for the Bucs for three years.

So how did he possibly make such a mistake?

Jesus why are you so obsessed with this "Football Guy" shtick? Does one of these guys making one bad pick mean it's ok for Howie to suck ass at drafting? I don't get the logic in bringing up "Football Guy" as much as you do. It's not nearly as good of a defense for Howie being terrible as you think it is.

Yes

This twitter thread would be worthwhile for se here.

That’s what it appeared to me but everything is relative. Smoke and mirrors ? Perhaps, up to Nick and Johnson they’ll figure it out

It does help to pick in the top ten.

Check back in three years on the pro bowl players.

Interesting factoid: After Ertz is cut/traded, the Eagles will go into next season without a player who has ever been a 1,000 yard rusher or receiver.

The all-time best receiving season for anyone on the roster will be 2019 Dallas Goedert: 607 yards, 10.5 ypc, 5 TD.

Duh, the RB is a two year player, the WRs are rookies or waiver wire guys, the blocking TE is unlikely ever to be a 1000 yard receiver.

If Jefferson was on the Eagles last season, he wouldn't have had more than 800 yards receiving, a couple good games and he'd be facing pressing CBs with a safety on top. Without other threats, even a first rate talent is going to struggle as a rookie.

Time to stop comparing Hurts to 2020 Wentz and start comparing him to a respectable starting NFL qb.

He fares well in one comp, not so much in the other.

An experiment under somewhat controlled environment. We all see a lot of room for improvement and to be fair it could happen but we all know this wasn’t the plan for him to be starting this year. I guess baptism by fire

I really don't think the Eagles are interested in drafting a qb round 1.

The Eagles have made extensive efforts to manipulate the rumor mill this offseason and in recent years.  I think they are doing the same thing with the QB whispers.  Stack the deck at QB in front of us so that the board at #6 has the most options of non-QB's...and so that teams trying to trade in front of us are doing it for QBs.  Also, if you enable the QB feeding frenzy, maybe it increases the price of a team looking to trade into #6 for one.

I firmly believe the Eagles are feeding those rumors.  They want to see through their controversial Hurts investment, at least for 2021.

Nothing wrong with that. Bet it goes on every year. Does it bother you that Howie would stoop to that level ? I want a trade back and get at least one extra early round pick if not more. Lot of holes to fill just take BPA’s no overthinking

You're speaking as if our current predicament was the natural result of winning a championship. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to embrace bad contracts. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to embrace bad trades. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to sign old, oft-injuried players. Winning the Superbowl didn't force Howie to make questionable (at best) draft picks.

If we truly had to sell our soul to win the Superbowl I think everyone would understand and be ok with it. If Howie rolled the dice, mortgaged the team's future, and it resulted in a Superbowl win, then we'd all be content with the current state of the team. However, that's just not what happened. The miserable state of this team is by no means the result of the Superbowl win.

Well, kind of,  it did.  And I agree with the idea of doing so even though it didn't work out to get us another one.

I'm not saying we truly had to sell our soul.  I'm saying,  the NFL is cyclic.  And everyone in here knows that,  but act shocked when we find ourselves in the unfortunate part of the cycle. As if this never should have happened. It was always coming. It happens for every team.

We have been here before,  and some teams get stuck here for a long time.  The eagles never stay down too long. I'm confident we will be back in the playoffs shortly.

I have mentioned Davis a few times here , apparently DJ likes him as much as I do.

Kentucky LB Jamin Davis is a stud! 6’4 LB with range, instincts and production. Stuffed the stat sheet in every game I studied.

- Wentz and Doug went multiple weeks not talking to each other

- Wentz's issues with Doug went beyond just the drafting of Hurts

- Only the Colts wanted Wentz, no other team even came close to making an offer

I'm sure some will disregard this as fake news, but I'll say that if this is true, I'm glad we got rid of both of them. Also, we are lucky as F the Colts got suckered into giving up a likely 1st and a 3rd as there was no real market for Wentz at all, they could have had him for a lot less. My only regret is that we didn't get a new GM and start over completely.

I'll disregard it as "I don't care anymore"

13 hours ago, DeathByEagle said:

He was trashing the Bears before they let him go. Im sure he does not care. However Im sure the rest of the teams in the league will care and just might stay far away from him this off season. He might just be done in the NFL.

Well he is kinda cooked anyways

Oklahoma WR Spencer Long. Pretty clear from the video that Jalen Hurts didn't leave the OU program better than he found it. Back to you, Tucker.

You’re doing some serious glossing over of things if you want to simply chalk this up to the NFL cycle.

We went from having one of the best young QBs and rosters in the NFL along with one of the best HCs to none of the above in the blink of an eye.

Good players and good rosters age, that’s true. A franchise’s window for contention changes. That’s also true.

But being this bad, this quickly wasn’t preordained. We got here with a FO and owner who meddled with our coaching staff, alienated our QB with a seriously mind-numbing decision to draft Hurts and managed to not draft a single impact player since 2016 (and that guy just got traded).

Spare me the NFL is cyclical. The Eagles aren’t some ship out to sea, sailing at the mercy of the wind. We created a huge mess, and to be where we are today is absolutely shocking.

No, Howie rolled the dice he could get us back to the SB. He lost, but he had a lot of bad injury luck.

There were only two questionable movies, signing DeSean and extending Jeffrey - and even then, Wallace getting injured lead to DeSean.

Jerrigan gets injured - Malik gets injured - Hargrave.

Darbry can't stay healthy - Slay

We aren't in cap hell because of injury bad luck.

Well, we'll have Hurts he'll probably get a thousand yards running this year.

No, that’s one thing about Howie that doesn’t bother me at all.

Remember that you just dismissed Goedert as a blocking TE the next time you refer to him as one of Howie’s all time best picks or one of the reasons our offense has good receiving weapons.

Skipping NE,

Denver 2015:  9-8, 5-11, 6-10, 7-9, 5-11

Seattle 2013:  12-4, 10-6, 10-5-1, 9-7, 10-6

Balt 2012:  8-8, 10-6, 5-11, 8-8, 9-7

NYG: 2011:  9-7, 7-9, 6-10, 6-10, 11-5, 3-13, 5-11, 4-12, 6-10

GB:  2010:  15-1, 11-5, 8-7-1, 12-4, 10-6, 10-6, 7-9, 6-9-1

NO 2009:  11-5, 13-3, 7-9, 11-5, 7-9, 7-9, 7-9

PITT 2008: 9-7, 12-4, 12-4, 8-8, 8-8

Just looking at the list...

Denver had a HoF QB at the twilight of his career. He retired. We had a franchise QB in his prime years.

Baltimore was gutted because they had to pay Flacco after he played out of his mind to win that SB. Wentz’s big contract kicked in in 2021.

I guess we can take solace in being similar to the 2011 Giants.

Howie is like the drunk man at the casino that hit it big and then tried to double his winnings. Predictably, he ended up dipping into his kid's college savings.

You never answered my question from yesterday. In your opinion, is there anything that Howie is below average at?

You forgot, he's the spoiled kid of the rich dad who's been going to the casino for years and keeps filling his sons pockets to try again.

Some really good talent for what seems to be the 4th year in a row.  It all depends on what style running back Siri wants to pair with Miles Sanders or do you look to replace Miles Sanders?
